It’s official - Rush Limbaugh is a junkie

Rush is in trouble again. The lock’em up, throw away the key man, can’t even follow his own advice.

According to MSNBC, April 29, 2006:

“WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A three-year investigation into drug use by Rush Limbaugh ended abruptly when the conservative commentator was booked on a single charge of prescription fraud in a deal his attorney says spares him a trial.

The charge will be dropped if Limbaugh continues treatment, attorney Roy Black said Friday.

“He feels that a great burden has been lifted from his shoulders,” he said. “What he told me is that this is the first day of the rest of his life.”

All a commentator can say is:

Ha! Ha! Haaaa!!!!!

The origins on May Day (the workers holiday).

Chicago, IL, was a major center for the labor movement in the 1870s and 1880s. It attracted both the mainstream, reactionary unions and the more radical ones. On May 1st, most of the Chicago workers went on strike demanding an eight out day. Within two days a shooting death occurred during a riot at the McCormick Reaper plant. Police were trying to break the strike.
On May 4th, at the Haymarket Square, protesters met to denounce their treatment at the hands of both the company and the police. There were at least eight speakers on a wagon, used as a stage. Towards the end of the meeting, police were trying to disperse the crowd. Someone (to this day no one knows who) threw a bomb and killed a cop. The cops opened fire on the crowd.

The police put the blame on the speakers for “inciting the crowd’ and arrested eight people. They were charged and convicted of murder. Four were actually hung, November 11, 1887, Albert Parsons, August Spies, Adolph Fischer, and George Engel. Another, Louis Lingg committed suicide in prison awaiting her death sentence. The other three had their sentences commuted to life. On June 26, 1893, Governor John P. Altgeld pardoned the three who were still in prison. It was not a popular decision with a lot of people, but he was about to leave office and obviously realized an injustice had been done.
The one bright spot in all of this is that the strikers did win an eight hour work day, which many people today take for granted. That is most unions in the world and some countries celebrate May 1 as international Labor Day. It this country it was changed to law day and the government tried to replace it with the Labor Day we celebrate in the fall, which really has nothing to do with labor.
Happy May Day!

Missing in action – the Democratic Party

The Democrats have been missing in action for some
time. They just don't get it. They jettisoned the
people with social interests, Women's groups, unions, Afro American interests and many others. They (as a whole) have not come out strongly against the war, although most of their “would be supporters” want that.

This is a party that needs a backbone. Even die-hard democrats are starting to ask why this party can’t take a clear stand on any issue and stick to it?
They have worked hard to win over some white red-necks who are already loyal to
the Republicans. This next election should be a cake
walk for them, yet I'd bet a large sum of money, they
actually loose seats and the presidency. They have to stand for something and give the people a vision before they can beat even the weakest of Republicans.

Who will oppose the war this next election?

Nepal's King Gyanendra Going DOWN!!!

The King is going down fast as members of opposition political parties have rejected all attempts by Nepal's King Gyanendra to broker a peace deal to keep him from losing all power. There is growing opposition and it is spilling into the streets. According to CNN.com, April 20, 2006:

KATHMANDU, Nepal (CNN) -- A small group of pro-democracy protesters have returned to the streets of Nepal's capital, one day after police killed three when they opened fire on a crowd.
A shoot-on-sight curfew went back into effect on Friday after security forces prevented thousands of protesters from storming the city's center on Thursday.
People have been warned to stay indoors between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. (0315-1415 GMT) or risk being shot.
Katmandu residents rushed to buy food and supplies before it began, but staples like milk were in short supply.”
On top of that, according to our own
The Wichita Eagle, Apr. 23, 2006:
Rebels attack security bases in Nepal
BINAJ GURUBACHARYA
Associated Press
“KATMANDU, Nepal - Communist rebels (Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)) attacked security bases and government buildings overnight in Nepal's mountainous north-central region, officials said Monday.
Details were sketchy about the overnight attack at Chautara, about 75 miles northeast of Katmandu, but officials reached at neighboring districts confirmed the attack.
The attackers knocked down the telecommunication tower around midnight cutting off all communications. The attack began late Sunday night but fighting continued until early Monday.
The rebels attacked the army base, police post, the district administration office and the local jail, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized speak to the media.
An army helicopter that headed to the mountainous area after the attack was forced to return to Katmandu because of bad weather overnight.”

The problems in Nepal are concerning both the US and India, who are finally realizing their puppet is bout to go down.

SNOBS want to build a Wall

We can tell the snobs and the petite bourgeoisie are taking over when they want to hide the poor. In other words: “out of site, out of mind.” Or to put it more bluntly: “There are too many FUCKING SNOBBS” in Kansas’ largest city; Wichita.

According to The Wichita Eagle, Apr. 19, 2006:

“Robert Garst tries to keep his south Wichita yard tidy. But he says at least one of his neighbors in the manufactured home park that borders his property has a different philosophy.
Foot-long broken tree limbs cover his neighbor's porch. And a small shed that sits next to Garst's property line has a large hole in it through which, he says, snakes come and go freely.
"As far as trailer houses go, as long as they take care of them, that's their right," he said. "But take care of them if you want to live there."
Garst is in favor of proposed changes in city and county zoning codes that would require existing manufactured-home parks to put up a visual barrier anywhere they border conventional homes.
New parks already have to build 6- to 8-foot walls, plant a line of evergreens or construct some other visual barrier where they abut other residences.”
The tacky looking new homes that are being built in this area, as if homes will be extinct next year, aren’t all that attractive to begin with. But wealthy people with uniform looking homes give them a sense of superiority against the less wealthy. To wall those people in makes them feel even more superior. They can actually cage the “little people.”
It’s too bad there is no concern that some of these people are having a hard time making it and finding work in this community that allows them to buy better homes. But this is a bastion of Republicans who feel only wealthy people have value and greed and snobbery are a “Christian Value.” It’s all part of living in Kansas.

They got to live somewhere

It’s not surprising that we are seeing more and more animals trying to live in our neighborhoods. There neighborhoods are gone. Our Western European attitude about nature is to conquer it, harness it or destroy it to get it out of the way.
We used to treat Native American Indians that way. They thought we hated nature. They were right. Lizards start showing up in our houses, as reported by The Wichita Eagle, Apr. 15, 2006, alligators end up in swimming pools, since they take up the space they used to hunt for fish and Coyotes are coming into towns to eat out of garbage cans and they eat small pets, such as cats and dogs. Coyotes are not dumb. They have survived against man’s onslaught for many years now. Why should they volunteer to die off now?

So as we build our monotonous looking specious homes, with dead sterile yards that take from nature and put nothing back, don’t be surprised when the smarter animals come for a visit. They have to live here also. They don’t usually choose to die off for our advantage. There are only so many resources we can take from this world and expect it to survive. Global warning should be a wake up call that we need to change our ways. The same thing goes for the “peak oil” controversy. If we destroy nature, we destroy ourselves.

Conservatives still target Venezuela President Hugo Chavez

I received this conservative bullshit on my e-mail:

Cindy Sheehan & Chavez

"Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression;we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century." The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

And of course he is!

The article encourages people not to be shopping at a Citgo station. I strongly encourage people to do just that. Seek them out and give them all the support you can!

Kansas School Board tries to hide meeting on sex-ed

For those interested in Abstinence only sex-education, the Kansas School Board is having a meeting at Wichita's North High, Next Tuesday, at 10:15a.m. If you’re for it, chances are you’re a minister or a rich corporate person who can easily get the day off.

If you’re a poor sucker, as most of us are, who wants accurate education to stop unwanted pregnancies, try explaining to your boss why you need your minimum wage job (or slightly higher) off so you can support, what the wing-nuts call pornography (sexual information and the endorsement of condoms) in school.
The meeting will be 90 percent the people right-wingers want. They’ll push they’re religious views and those who don’t buy it will just suffer the consequences. If you’re youngsters get pregnant or get AIDS, it’s just “the Lord punishment” according to the majority on the board.

Global warming is no longer debatable – it’s real

Conservatives keep telling us not to change our life style. “There’s no solid evidence to support global warming.” “Many scientists are skeptical.” We have refused to sign any agreements to limit greenhouse gasses. Well folks, were now paying for it and I’m not sure there’s enough time to reverse the process.

According to Time, April 2, 2006:
Polar Ice Caps Are Melting Faster Than Ever... More And More Land Is Being Devastated By Drought... Rising Waters Are Drowning Low-Lying Communities... By Any Measure, Earth Is At ... The Tipping Point.
The climate is crashing, and global warming is to blame. Why the crisis hit so soon--and what we can do about it.

No one can say exactly what it looks like when a planet takes ill, but it probably looks a lot like Earth. Never mind what you've heard about global warming as a slow-motion emergency that would take decades to play out. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the crisis is upon us.

It certainly looked that way last week as the atmospheric bomb that was Cyclone Larry--a Category 4 storm with wind bursts that reached 125 m.p.h.--exploded through northeastern Australia. It certainly looked that way last year as curtains of fire and dust turned the skies of Indonesia orange, thanks to drought-fueled blazes sweeping
