Until recently the 4th of July was a wimp holiday. Not that the meaning behind it was all wrong. The US was one of the first colonial states to break with feudalism and embrace the new economic system of capitalism. As every Marxist knows the stages of development are from primitivism to feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism. That was the five stages of Marx’s view of economic development. Yes the US is long overdue for socialism, but in 1776 at least two founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson and Tom Pain were considered “republicans.” They were of the few founding fathers that opposed developing a new American aristocracy. To some extent we got our aristocracy, but Jefferson and pain were ahead of their time.
Pain even went over to support the French Revolution, which was a clear cut from feudalism. Jefferson never stopped in his support of the French Revolution.

So today some of us still celebrate the end of feudalism by supporting the 4th of July revolution. A lot’s gone wrong in 200 years, but for a short time, it got done right. It was never an Afro-American revolution or one for the Native American Indians, but it was a change that rippled through Europe and eventually through the American hemisphere. In some ways the revolution still goes on today, in places such as Cuba and Venezuela. There’s more to be done, but why not take out the time to set off the most illegal fireworks we can get our hands on.
It’s the least we can do for our real forefathers and not the rehashed Hamilton style attempts rebuilding an American aristocracy.

It’s obvious a country is not a fee democracy when a movies star, Cameron Diaz gets flack from locals about a purse like bag she carried over her shoulder. It had a read star and in Chinese it said “To serve the people.” The red star reminded many reactionaries of communism and the slogan was a favourite of Mao Zedong.
Such items are fashion statements in less fascistic countries, but Peru has been a dictatorship for most of it’s history and one of it’s last president took over in a coup and ran the country as a dictator until he was run out.
Locals also complain about the so called “Shining Path” (the press nickname for the Communist Party of Peru), which has waged an intense guerrilla war on behalf of peasants and slum dwellers in the cities. Since Diaz was travelling with members of the government and other big time rich VIPs, it’s not surprising that she got so much flack for a handbag.
Last night on nightline they went to a store that sells Mao shirts and other communist inspired clothing and found a girl working there who thought kids wore that stuff to be “creepy.” Between her and the announcer they could see no reason anyone would want to be associated with communism and yet my friends list is full of revolutionaries and people who admire both Che Guevara and Mao and know fully well who they are supporting and why.

Sex sells and the subject is brought up several times. But this book is more of a documented history of the US drug and porn culture. It does not have a lot of gratuitous sex or drug use portrayed in it as in Memoirs or a Drugged-Up, Sex-Crazed Yippie, my fictional novel. This is more of a resourse book and will come in handy for those who want to argue about America's drug laws. It is heavily researched and has some amazing information in it. It is political and serious. So it's a completely different book, but I think many readers will want to get a copy. For one thing it exposes the racism of drug laws. It also shows how the narcotics population has remained nearly unchanged since the early 1900s. Some great arguments against our "war on drugs" can be found in this book.

Gays make their presents known in Wichita.

Wichita’s Gay Pride parade was the largest in this cities history according to TV news counts. This shows that gays in Wichita are tired of being pushed around by fundamentalist preachers. Some of those preachers attended the event to heckle the gays and a minister was arrested for trying to block it. But they were far outnumbered by the gays and their supporters.

A monument dedicated to a hollow victory

It would not be surprising if the last emperor of Rome, realizing his fate was sealed would try and build a giant ostentatious monument to himself and Rome in hopes that these things would survive his crumbling empire. They same could be said of various Egyptian Pharaohs.

The memorial is one more constant reminder to re-enforce the idea that such leaders as Bush are as necessary to us as our fathers and mothers were when our diapers needed changing.

It's the same with efforts to get the Ten Commandments put in public building, such as schools and the courthouses. Religion is one more myth used to convince us all that we need a special father figure, someone much bigger than ourselves to take care of us.

And what about the 1.5 million Vietnamese the US Army killed during the Vietnam war or the nearly 1 million people killed during the carpet bombings of Easter Kampuchea(Cambodia). Many of these people, if not the majority, were civilians. When will someone raise a monument for them.

A warm reception for Bush--NOT

When President George Bush came to Wichita, he probably figured this was a nice Republican friendly town he could visit without much fuss. Although he was able to avoid looking at protesters for more than a few seconds, Wichita protesters wanted him to know he was no more welcome in this city, than any other of its size.

Over 150 protesters lined up along 21st Street in Wichita to Show their disapproval of Bush.

Bush's agenda included an appearance at the Boys & Girls Club, near 21st and
Grove St. Unlike a fund raiser for Senator Pat Roberts' re-election campaign, which was moved more than twice to throw off opponents, Bush was forced to endure this protest as his motorcade made it to the Boys & Girls Club.

The protest was put on by The People Who Care, a coalition that invited anyone in the city, who opposed the president and included members of the local Peace and Justice Center. Most of the protesters focused on the Iraq war with signs pointing out the 3512 U.S. Dead as of June 13. Many of the signs said simply "U.S. Out of Iraq Now."


Fever people showed up at a protest in the middle of town, knowing that the fund raiser, where people paid $500 plate and $4,500 to have their picture with the president, was moved to a remote location where protesters could not get close enough to annoy the rich boys club that continues to fund this type government we now have.



Most passing motorists were supportive of the demonstration. However one woman yelled insults and made obscene gestures as she drove past.

WICHITA, Kan. -- Protesters and curious onlookers mingled along the streets of this city hours before President Bush was scheduled to visit a boys and girls club and raise campaign funds for Sen. Pat Roberts.

Mary Harren hastily organized a loose coalition of war protesters calling themselves, "We The People Who Care."

"We are asking that we bring the troops now. Get us out of Iraq," Harren said. "They never should have been sent there in the first place. They were sent under false pretenses."

Well, some of us are not happy to see him and we plan to protest his visit every minute he is here. Our numbers will be small, but Kansas' opposition needs to be heard. Even some Republicans are getting sick of the way their party has blundered and wasted some much of the tax-payers time and energy on stupidity. The war is not popular even in this town.

Paris Hilton has proven once again that money can buy you anything. It can even get you out of jail after you had your license suspended for DUI and you’ve been driving around partying all night. One day was all she spent in real jail time, if that. When your dad owns a chain of hotels you are above the law. Drugs, drunk driving, never fear. Money is here to get her out of any jam. As with Jeb Bush’s daughters in Forida, we have learned there are two kinds of rules. Those that most of us have to live by and get huge jail sentences if we don’t and the people of privilege, due to their wealth and political privileges, don’t have to abide by any rules. They are above the law and can simply buy their way out of trouble.


Paris Hilton is a true bloodsucking leach on the rest of society. If she was on welfare, we’d be calling her a bum. But wealthy people who sponge off society and don’t do any practical work are called celebrities and never get called bums.

I still have to spend some time looking for a job and next week, if all else fails, I will have to go back where I worked four years ago. I know I can get a job there.

Lately I've had to wonder what it takes to get a job because it takes to little to keep one. A single digit IQ is sufficient for most jobs.

Just look at our president. He can't be fired and he continues to fight a war NO ONE with an IQ over 9 believes he can win.

Local fundi church under fire at last

For some time, the Spirit One Church on Highway 96, North of Wichita, has been used as a staging ground for anti-abortion activities, a platform for fundamentalist politicians and a platform for a number of conservative causes, supported by the church as a stable institution of the far right. Recently the building was struck by lightning during a thunder storm (a porno shop across the street survived the storm unharmed).

Now the church has bigger problems as area activist have pushed for the IRS to review the church's political activities and decide if they are abusing their tax-exempt status by blatantly taking part in political activities.

The IRS has contacted a Wichita church about whether it has violated rules that prohibit churches from engaging in most political activity, the church's pastor said Thursday.

Pastor Mark Holick of Spirit One Christian Center, 1515 E. Harry, said the IRS sent him a letter last month asking him to respond to questions about political activities at the church.

Those activities include the pastor's involvement in distributing voter guides and messages on the church's marquee critical of candidates and their stances on abortion.

Under IRS tax code, churches and nonprofit groups are prohibited from some political campaign activities, including endorsing candidates and contributing money during active elections.

Groups that violate the ban risk losing their nonprofit status.

Michael Devine, IRS spokesman in Kansas, said he could not comment on specifics about the church's situation because of IRS privacy codes.

Holick said he submitted his responses Thursday, the final day he had to respond to the IRS.

On Thursday, he said he was disturbed by the IRS' inquiry.

"It's a clear violation of the First Amendment, the free exercise of religion, the free exercise of speech," said Holick, one of the most outspoken abortion opponents in the Wichita area.

He scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. today at his church to discuss the issue.

Holick said the letter raised 31 questions.

The IRS wanted to know if former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline spoke at Spirit One about elected officials and whether he asked the church to support his campaign. Holick said he answered no to both questions.

Holick said the IRS wanted information about four statements posted on the church marquee, how long they were posted, when they were posted and what the cost was. He said the four statements were:

• Morrison accepts blood money from abortionist Tiller. How many babies??

• Canfield supports life and traditional family, Barnett does not.

• Paul Morrison early release of felons. Reginald Carr multiple murders.

• Abortionist Tiller has given $300,000 to Sebelius. Price of 1,000 babies!

During the heat of the campaign last November, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' spokeswoman Nicole Corcoran said: "The governor has never received money from ProKanDo and has not a single donation from Dr. Tiller in her race for governor. These claims are totally false and made-up numbers."



There is a suspicion that one person filed a complaint that the IRS has finally acted on. This is not the first time someone has filed such a complaint. I personally have done that myself, but nothing was done about it. Perhaps the IRS has finally had enough complaints from citizens that if felt compelled to do something after all this time. If the fundies want to spend so much of their time and money attaching the left and secular politicians then the least they can do is pay taxes as the rest of us do. It looks like Spirit One may finally have to.
