News worthy events of 2007

1. Benazir Bhutto, a presidential contender in upcoming election, was assassinated, leaving Pakistan a country already in shambles, to deal with even more chaos. The war in Afghanistan (our prized puppet government) has been spilling over the boarder for some time.

2. Britney Spears runs over the feet of two paparazzi and a cop. After a dismal year of bad press followed by an album that got dogged by the critics, she finally does something interesting and fun to read about.

3. The BHUTAN COMMUNIST PARTY (MARXIST-LENINIST-MAOIST) has announced it will launch a people’s war. If it does, the will be joining successful Maoist insurgencies in India and Nepal.
4. A new 'Shining Path (Communist Party of Peru) Resurgence in Peru. Smaller than the original, but it has new younger and less experienced leaders. http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAOIST
_REVOLUTION
5. There was the troop surge headed by Gen. Petraeus (AKA Betray Us). So far he has proven that if we throw enough troops and money at a puppet government, they will pretend they like us, despite the fact that we stole their sovereignty, stole their resources and forced them to live under a puppet regime. Did anyone notice that no presidential candidate has used the term “pull out?” They say “exit strategy,” a bit like Richard Nixon’s promise of “Peace with honor.”

6. Thousands march in D.C. war protest According to The Wichita Eagle, Sep. 16, 2007. There were several marches across the country in 2007. All were soundly ignored by the government and much of the press.

7. “Paris Hilton out of jail But at least the Rich Bitch had to spend some time in jail for flouting drunk driving laws. How many regular people ended up doing real time for that?

8. Chavez takes on Bush- It was a propaganda fight between President Hugo Chavez, Venezuela and President George Bush, USA, to try and influence the voters of Latin America. Clearly Bush has the edge running the only super power left in the world even though. Chavez has provided the strongest opposition to US imperialism in Latin America since Fidel Castro of Cuba. Chavez has outlasted attempted coups, attempts by the middle class to oust him in an election and he has held his own, politically. He is one of the few left leaning reformers to outlast the usual CIA tactics to overthrow even a mild reformer for Latin America’s poor.
9. Anna Nicole Smith died – We Americans love a good con.
Not that she was an extremely talented person or that she was a caring individual or politically left. No she was successful white trash – and I mean that in a positive way.Roseanne Barr once called herself “white trash with money.” But Roseanne was a comic genius who clawed her way to success from small night clubs. She was able to provide the Hollywood elites with a show that focused on working class people and their everyday lives. Smith just showed us the excesses of having too much money.

Marketing ploy bombs in Boston
BY SCOTT LEITH
Cox News ServiceATLANTA - The fallout from a botched marketing campaign for an edgy Cartoon Network program might have been even more surreal than the show itself. After it was discovered that a crippling bomb scare in Boston was actually caused by a low-budget promotional plan for a cartoon, some people in the rest of the country wondered whether Bostonians had lost their sense of humor -- or their common sense. While indignant local officials pressed for payback -- including the arrests of two men -- the moves drew bloggers and some critics who marveled that so many people were out of touch with Atlanta-based Cartoon Network's "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."

Pakistan's Bhutto killed in attack

By SADAQAT JAN and ZARAR KHAN, Associated Press Writers 32 minutes ago
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan - Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday by an attacker who shot her after a campaign rally and then blew himself up. Her death stoked new chaos across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.
At least 20 others were killed in the attack on the rally for Jan. 8 parliamentary elections where the 54-year-old former prime minister had just spoken.
At least nine people were killed across the country in rioting that broke out in the aftermath of the assassination. In the southern port city of Karachi, angry Bhutto supporters shot at police and burned a gas station.
At the hospital where Bhutto died, some supporters smashed glass and wailed, chanting slogans against President Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf blamed Islamic extremists for her death and said he would redouble his efforts to fight them.
"This is the work of those terrorists with whom we are engaged in war," he said in a nationally televised speech. "I have been saying that the nation faces the greatest threats from these terrorists. ... We will not rest until we eliminate these terrorists and root them out."
In the U.S., a tense looking President Bush strongly condemned the attack "by murderous extremists who are trying to undermine Pakistan's democracy." White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said Bush spoke briefly by phone with Musharraf.
Musharraf convened an emergency meeting with his senior staff, where they were expected to discuss whether to postpone the elections, an official at the Interior Ministry said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks.
The government announced three days of mourning for Bhutto, including the closing of schools, commercial centers and banks.
Nawaz Sharif, another former prime minister and leader of a rival opposition party, demanded Musharraf resign immediately and announced his party would boycott the upcoming election.

http://www.marxist.com/pakistan-assassination-benazir-bhutto271207.htm Pakistan: The assassination of Benazir Bhutto By Alan Woods Thursday, 27 December 2007 Benazir Bhutto has been killed in a suicide bombattack. The leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) hadjust addressed a rally of PPP supporters in the townof Rawalpindi when the attack took place. Firstreports talked of at least 100 killed in the attack, but more recent news put the figure at 15. This murderous onslaught on the PPP came in the middleof an election campaign where, after years of militarydictatorship, the masses were striving for a change. There was a wave of support for the PPP, which wassure to win National and provincial assembly electionsthat were due to be held on 8 January 2008. The campaign was gathering strength, and the PPPMarxist wing was getting enthusiastic support for itsrevolutionary socialist message in places as far apartas Karachi and the tribal areas of Waziristan in thefar north. These elections would have reflected a bigshift to the left in Pakistan. This prospect wascausing alarm in the ruling clique. That is what wasbehind today's atrocity. This was a crime against the workers and peasants ofPakistan, a bloody provocation intended to cancel theelections that the PPP was sure to win and to providethe excuse for a new clampdown and the possiblereintroduction of martial law and dictatorship. It isa counterrevolutionary act that must be condemnedwithout reservation. Who was responsible? The identity of the murderers isnot yet known. But when I asked the comrades inKarachi, the reply was immediate: "it was themullahs". The dark forces of counterrevolution incountries like Pakistan habitually dress up in thegarb of Islamic fundamentalism. There are even rumoursin circulation that Benazir was shot from a mosque, although the western media insist that the murder wasthe result of a suicide bomber. Whatever the technical details of the assassination, and whoever was the direct agent of this criminal act,the threads of the conspiracy undoubtedly reach highup. The so-called Islamic fundamentalists and jihadisare only the puppets and hired assassins ofreactionary forces that ere entrenched in thePakistani ruling class and the state apparatus, lavishly funded by the Pakistan Intelligence Services(ISI), drug barons with connections with the Taliban, and the Saudi regime, always anxious to support andfinance any counterrevolutionary activity in theworld. The war in Afghanistan is having a ruinous effect onPakistan. The Pakistan ruling class had ambitions ofdominating the country after the expulsion of theRussians. The Pakistan army and ISI have been meddlingthere for decades. They are still mixed up with theTaliban and the drug barons (which is the same thing).Huge fortunes are made from the drugs trade that ispoisoning Pakistan and destabilizing its economy, society and politics. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto is just anotherexpression of the sheer rottenness, degeneration andcorruption that is gnawing at the vitals of Pakistan. The misery of the masses, the poverty, the injustices, cry out for a solution. The landlords and capitalistshave no solution to this. The workers and peasantslooked to the PPP for a way out. Some so-called "lefts" will say: But Benazir'sprogramme could not have provided the way out. TheMarxists in the PPP are fighting for the programme ofsocialism - for the original programme of the PPP. Butthe masses can only learn which programme and policiesare correct through their own experience. The January elections would have give the masses anopportunity to advance at least one step in the rightdirection, by inflicting a decisive defeat on theforces of reaction and dictatorship. Then they wouldhave had the possibility of learning about programmesand policies, not in theory but in practice. Now it seems most likely that they will be denied thisopportunity. The purpose of this criminal provocationis quite clear: to cancel the elections. I have notyet seen the response of the Pakistan authorities, butit would be unthinkable that the elections could nowtake place on 8 January. They will be at leastpostponed for some time. What effect will this have upon the masses? I havejust spoken on the phone to the comrades of TheStruggle in Karachi, where they have been battling thereactionary thugs of the MQM in a fierce electioncampaign. They tell me that there is a general feelingof shock among the masses. "People are weeping andwomen are wailing in their houses: I can hear themnow," the comrade said. But the shock is already turning into anger: "There isrioting in the streets of Karachi and other cities.People are blocking the roads and burning tires." That is a warning to the ruling class that thepatience of the masses is now exhausted. The movementof the masses cannot be halted by the assassination ofone leaser - or by a thousand. The masses always adhere to their traditional massorganizations. The PPP developed in the heat of therevolutionary movement of 1968-9, when the workers andpeasants came close to taking power. The dictator Zia murdered Benazir's father. That didnot prevent the resurrection of the PPP in the 1980s.The forces of state terrorism murdered Benazir'sbrother, Murtazar. Then they exiled Benazir andinstalled a new dictatorship. That did not prevent thePPP from experiencing a new resurrection when 2-3million people came onto the streets to welcome herback. The masses will recover from the momentary shock andgrief. These emotions will be replaced in time byanger and the desire for revenge. But what is neededis not individual revenge, but collective revenge. What is needed is to prepare the masses for a newrevolutionary offensive that will tackle the problemsof Pakistan by the roots. The ruling clique may delay the date of the elections, but sooner or later they will have to be called. Thereactionaries calculate that the removal of Benazirwill weaken the PPP. That is a serious miscalculation! The PPP cannot be reduced to a single individual. Ifthat were true. It would have disappeared after thejudicial murder of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The PPP is not one individual, It is the organizedexpression of the will of the masses to changesociety. It is the three million who came on thestreets to greet Benazir's return. It is the tens ofmillions more who were preparing to vote for a changein the January elections. These millions are nowmourning. But they will not mourn forever. They willfind effective ways of struggle to make their voiceheard. The masses must protest the murder of the PPP leaderthrough a national protest movement: mass rallies, strikes, protest demonstrations, culminating in ageneral strike. They must raise the banner ofdemocracy. Against dictatorship! No more martial law!Call new elections immediately! The PPP leadership must not capitulate to any pressureto delay the elections. Call the national andprovisional elections! Let the people's voice beheard! Above all, the PPP must return its originalprogramme and principles. In the PPP's founding programme is inscribed the aimof the socialist transformation of society. Itincludes the nationalization of the land, banks andindustries under workers control, the replacement ofthe standing army by a workers and peasants militia. These ideas are as correct and relevant today as whenthey were first written! There is nothing easier than to take the life of a manor a woman. We humans are frail creatures and easilykilled. But you cannot murder an idea whose time hascome! [communistpartyofpakistan] Death of Benazir Bhuttoo -- by Murtaza Shibli

Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated in Rawalpinidi, going out of the same park, first Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawab Liaqat Ali Khan was assassinated 56 years ago. He was assassinated about 150 feet away from it and this is why its called 'Liaqat Baagh'.

After last Assassination attempt that had caused deaths of 140 in her Arrival Rally, she should have listened to ISI that was not letting her out to go to rallies after Emergency was imposed. She had thought, it was just to scare her off and no more real threat to her existed though it was because of a Police Van between the Suicide Bomber and her that had not let impact of the blast reach her vehicle last time and she had survived un-harmed.

I think, she should have just campaigned through speeches on private radio stations and TV Stations instead of going in public but she was just too brave and kept taking risks. PML Q or government can not be blamed for the attack because she was not as big a Political challenge for them. Actually, such an incident couldn't be considered favorable for Pres. Musharraf and PML Q. Definitely JehaaDi Religious Zealots did it.

Historical Note:

* It was agreed that if Gov. Gen. or President was going to be a West Pakistani, the Prime Minister would be an East Pakistani or vice versa in Pakistan.
* East Pakistani Khwaja Nazimuddin had asked Nawab Liaqat Ali Khan to become Prime Minister instead of him in East Pakistan Quota because of his monitory sacrifices for the party and the cause of Pakistan.
* Nawab had acted loyal to East Pakistanis repeating in Cabinet Meetings, "I have to represent East Pakistan. I am an East Pakistani Prime Minister".
* He was assassinated, when he had planned to implement Socialistic Land Reform in Pakistan to get rid of big 'JaagirDaars' and now Benazir has been assassinated because she had wanted to get rid of 'JehaaDis' and Islamic Extremism.
* Gen. Ayub had switched to Presidential System and then there was no parity system left but he used to fill about half of his Cabinet with East Pakistanis.
* Going back to Prime Minister System in 1970, definitely Sh. Mujib was supposed to become Prime Minister since President Yahya was a West Pakistani on old parity basis.Kashmir Affairs wrote:
Death of Benazir Bhuttoo
Murtaza Shibli
Editor Kashmir Affairs, London [www.kashmiraffairs .org]
The death of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhuttoo is being mourned by millions of Pakistanis. She had a profound public base despite staying out of her country for nearly a decade and dogged by corruption and nepotism charges.
Her death, however, should not come as a surprise at all. For the past three decades, Pakistan has been turned into a ‘Jihad factory’ under the guidance of the US and other Western powers. After 9/11 when Pakistan launched a war on its own people in the name of ‘War on terror’, it was not uncanny to predict that the Jihadis who were nourished previously will turn against their old allies – the politicians and the military and the innocent people of Pakistan will get caught and entangled as a collateral.
‘Martyr of Democracy’?
Is Benazir Bhuttoo a martyr for democracy is Pakistan ? Many of the Pakistani political parties are calling it a set-back for democracy which could be seriously contested, but her death is certainly a blow to the electoral exercise. Strangely, exiled leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM, Altaf Hussain called her ‘martyr of democracy’. Altaf Hussain’s MQM is blamed for hundreds of terrorist actions that led to the deaths of thousands of people in Karachi . The world’s ‘greatest democrat’ George Bush has claimed that Benazir laid down her life for the ideals of democracy.
Benazir Bhuttoo was indeed a very popular woman politician of her country, but she was by no means a democrat. During her tenure as twice Prime Minister of her country, she stifled the growth of democracy and undermined the democratic institutions. She not only concentrated in herself the absolute power of the country, but also assumed the title of chairperson for life of her political party – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Her husband Asif Ali Zardari is generally seen as the villain who tarnished Benazir’s image through corruption and violence. Zardari, a jagirdar or landlord used his traditional violent methods to subdue his opponents and used the government power of his wife to extract benefits through his various corrupt, and often violent deals. He was alleged to be involved in the killing of Murtaza Bhuttoo, Benazir’s brother. Asif Zardari had even maintained private jails where he tortured his opponents. This all happened whi! le Benaz ir Bhuttoo’s ‘democratically elected’ government was in power.
Benazir’s record for corruption surpassed all the pervious governments as she amassed huge assets mostly in Dubai , the UK and other Western capitals plundering the assets of her country. Her government was involved in the massive human rights violations particularly in Karachi where the MQM militants had virtually brought the financial capital of Pakistan to a grinding halt. The reaction of the Benazir government was ruthless operations that killed thousands of innocent and unarmed civilians.
Although Benazir was portrayed as the ‘modern and moderate’ face of Pakistan who could help fighting Jihadists, this fact is conveniently buried that it was her government that helped formation of Taliban whose legacy continues to ruin Pakistan, Afghanistan and beyond.
After her return from self-exile, Benazir went beyond all decency and decorum to appease the US and other Western powers. Her assertions that she was not opposed to the American operations in the Pakistan ’s tribal areas to fight ‘terrorism’ and would allow disgraced scientist AQ Khan to be interrogated by the US showed her desperation for power. Power was all that mattered and she showed no regard to the public feelings or her country’s integrity. She even talked tough about Jihadis and was willing to follow the course of General Musharraf’s military response to the crisis rather than any political negotiation to rid the country of growing extremism.
Who killed Benazir?
There is no doubt that Benazir Bhuttoo had many enemies. After her rhetoric against Taliban and other Islamic fundamentalists, her list of enemies grew phenomenally.
Despite the ‘deal’ between Pervez Musharraf and Benazir Bhuttoo, she was seen as main challenge to the current government. This is important to note that General Musharraf allowed Bhuttoo into Pakistan only after tremendous US pressure. When she arrived in Pakistan in October last, the millions of people who came to receive her gave sleepless nights to the government authorities. This ultimately paved way for the return of Nawaz Sharief another former Prime Minister who was earlier deported as soon as he landed in Pakistan .
Although the Jihadists and Al-Qaeda had allegedly vowed to kill her, the current Pakistani regime headed by General Musharraf can not be absolved and will be the greatest benefactor of her death. Another rival who may have been willing to see her dead are Chaudhry Brothers – Chaudhry Pervez Illahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of Pakistan Muslim League Q, the political partner of General Musharraf. The Chaudhry Brothers were the bitterest opponents of Benazir’s homecoming and tried unsuccessfully to stop President Musharraf from doing a deal with Bhutto.
When the terrorists attacked Benazir’s homecoming rally on October 18, 2007, she blamed former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Ilahi. Chaudhry Brothers have had well documented connections with the Jihadist extremists and are well known to use violence for their political goals.
Even if President Musharraf’s government may not be directly involved in her killing, it can not be absolved of inaction in protecting her. Despite being on the ‘hit list’ of terrorists and extremists, Benazir was not provided ample security cover. The deterioration of Pakistan ’s intelligence and security apparatus to predict or stop suicide bombings can be gauged by the number of rising fatal bombings in and around the highest protected area of the Army Headquarters GHQ in Rawalpindi . Benazir Bhuttoo was also killed in Rawalpindi not far from the country’s military headquarters.
The Future
The future of Pakistan is fraught with instability and the death of Benazir has further undermined the internal security of Pakistan . After her death, her party could win the majority of seats if the elections go ahead, but there is no single leader that could hold the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) together. Unfortunately, Benazir’s legacy for her party is highly undemocratic and there is a chance that the PPP could split with many contenders and claimants for the throne. This could create further divisions among the Pakistan ’s fractured polity.
Light at the End of Tunnel
There is no doubt that the death meted out to Benazir Bhuttoo is tragic and testing for Pakistan . But there are some positive things that seem to be coming out of this national tragedy. In his reaction and speech to the nation, President Pervez Musharraf declared three day ‘official mourning’ when the national flag will fly at half mast. This is for the first time that the death of an opposition leader has been recognised officially. Similarly, Islamist Jama’at-e-Islami while condemning the terror act has called for a general strike. Other political parties from a wide spectrum of persuasions have condemned the killing and offered condolences.
The suicide attack on Benazir’s convoy on 18th October 2007 that killed nearly 150 Pakistani civilians precipitated the anger of Pakistanis against the terrorism and extremism. There was a massive public recognition and reaction against the extremist ideology. Benazir’s death might act as a catalyst to unite the Pakistani nation and strengthen their resolve to fight the menace that has engulfed the country thanks to its willingness to act as proxy to the alien interests in the region.
If Pervaiz Musharraf’s government can offer initiatives to value the public opinion of Pakistanis in this time of multiple crisis and bring about a real national reconciliation, Pakistan could emerge from the challenges that are not only threatening the core values of its society, but also the very existence of the country and its people.

Another scare tactic damages legitimate pain management

The problem with these articles is that they often scare doctors out of prescribing pain medicine for those who really need it. People dying of cancer of people with persistent and severe pain often have trouble getting the drugs they need because the DEA (drug enforcement agency, which has more power than doctors in this country) scare doctors away from legitimate pain treatment. Some pain patience end up committing suicide after being unable to cope with pain. A friend of mine with bone cancer was given Lora tab for a disease in which the highest form of pain relieve was needed and he is dying anyway, so addiction is not on the table. What is, is his ability to live out his last few days with as little pain as possible.

Thanks to this type of publicity, people like him may have problems getting the relief they need and deserve:

From The Wichita Eagle:

Board may pull doctor's license

BY RON SYLVESTER

Linda Atterbury Schneider

After a federal judge in Wichita found Friday that osteopath Stephen Schneider posed a danger to the community, a lawyer for the Kansas Board of Healing Arts said the order may be enough to pull his medical license.

U.S. Magistrate Don Bostwick ordered Schneider and his wife, Linda, held in jail without bond on 34 federal charges related to their practice of prescribing painkillers at their Haysville clinic.

The Schneiders pleaded not guilty Friday. Outside the courtroom, the Schneiders' relatives defended the doctor and his practice.

"He treats your soul as well as your sickness, because he has a good heart," said Pat Hatcher, Linda Schneider's sister, who is caring for the couple's two teenage daughters.

Prosecutor Tanya Treadway told the judge that Schneider stands accused of contributing to the lethal overdoses of 56 patients by giving them illegal access to powerful drugs.

"And we still have 35 more (deaths) to investigate," Treadway said.

Bostwick's order may give the Board of Healing Arts the authority it needs to act.

Kelli Stevens, litigation specialist for the board, said the board would look over the court order next week and see if it would prompt an emergency action against Schneider's license.

To do that, the board needs proof Schneider provides "imminent harm to the community."

"In this case, especially now with the judge's order, we may be there," Stevens said.

The board filed a petition against Schneider in 2006, but it was delayed as the state added extra patients to the case; then federal investigators asked the board to delay the case so federal prosecutors could proceed with theirs, she said.

The original six-page petition had grown to more than 50 pages by the Nov. 13 filing.

Claims against Schneider

Schneider, 54, wouldn't give up his license voluntarily, he said through his lawyer at Friday's hearing.

"Dr. Schneider still has patients out there who at least will need referrals to other health care providers," lawyer Jay Greeno said. "Not all of his patients are there for pain management issues. They have other health issues that need to be taken care of."

Bostwick said he doesn't have the power to order a doctor to give up a medical license.

"I do have authority to say if he's released, he couldn't prescribe medications or practice medicine," Bostwick said.

He said he didn't know how he could ensure Schneider wouldn't continue seeing patients or authorizing prescriptions without assigning him 24-hour surveillance.

"I don't know how I can effectively and efficiently police that," Bostwick said.

Schneider didn't change his medical practices, even as federal investigators scrutinized him for two years before Thursday's grand jury indictment, Treadway said. Greeno pointed out that Schneider is presumed innocent of the accusations until he's proven guilty in court.

"He should be allowed to keep his license until the appropriate agencies take action -- if and when they do," Greeno said.

Treadway said that if Schneider gave up his license voluntarily, the government would agree to his release.

"You might," Bostwick said. "I might not."

The Board of Healing Arts has the authority to restrict, suspend or revoke a doctor's license.

A petition filed Nov. 13 by the board claims 14 cases in which Schneider showed negligence and incompetence or unprofessional behavior.

Those include:

Patients receiving prescription painkillers when drug screens showed evidence of illicit drugs, such as marijuana.

Patients receiving prescriptions under Schneider's watch, even when they had a history of drug abuse and were not closely monitored.

People receiving prescriptions from Schneider or his assistants when drug screens showed an absence of the medications -- indicating that they were not using the pills, but selling them.

Stevens said the board could act as early as Wednesday.

Bhutan Communist Party MLM Press release

BHUTAN COMMUNIST PARTY (MARXIST-LENINIST-MAOIST)

CENTRAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE

PRESS RELEASE

Bhutan is one of the most backward, undevelopment and poor country among the poorest countries of south-Asia. Eventhough, it is rich enough in its geo-natural and human-resources, the nature of semi-feudalism and semi-colonialism have adversely affected its development. The very reason behind it is the monarchy, which has been controlled by the Wangchuk dynasty for the last 96 years.

More than 75% illiterate, poverty striken, ill health, jobless and corrupted Bhutan's maximum property is being divided among the Wangchuk families . The foreign aids received in the name of people and nation building activities are not only misused in the eviction process, buying cars and constructing private assets but also misused in the activities which endangers the existence of our nation as a whole.

Even the Sherchops, who are next to Nepali origine Bhutanese according to population, as well as khengpas, kurtekpas, Doyas, Brokpas, Layaps, Drakpas and Uraons-mundas who are Indian origine Bhutanese, are all oppressed and exploited very badly.

Educational Freedoms, Freedom of speech and publications are ruthlessly violated and all kinds of democratic and civil rights are suppressed through secret murder, imprisonment and torture, state terror and so on . The burning example for this is the Bhutanese refugee crisis.

Neither the existance of human rights nor the installation of civil rights are possible without smashing the monarchy in Bhutan. In reality, it is impossible to promote any rights and justice in this situation. Hence, the true enemy of the people of Bhutan is the Wangchuk dynasty and its despotic regime which serves as the compredor of Bhutanese feudalism, Indian expansionism and the emperialism as a whole. A true and new democracy can be established only after smashing the monarchy in Bhutan.

In this context, it is crystal clear that the New Democratic Revolution is the historical necessity of the hour to solve all kinds of crisis of semi-feudalist and semi-colonial Bhutan. Hence, on this auspicious occasion of the 133rd Lenin Day, with countrywide postering, pamphleting, wall-painting and hosting the proliteriat international red flag marked with sickle-hammer including Thimpu-the capital city of Bhutan, we proudly proclaim the declaration of Bhutan Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist) to wage the new democratic revolution in the soil of Bhutan and take oath to reach the classless society via socialism by waging anti-feudalist, anti-emperialist peasant revolution through the new democratic revolution in Bhutan.

Therefore, Bhutan Communist Party (MLM) requests all the Bhutanese workers, peasants, bussinessmen, employee, students, youths, teachers, writers, intellectuals and the civilians to accept its appeal and call and to help physically, morally and economically in the struggle.

Bhutan Communist Party (MLM) also requests the international communities, on behalf of the oppressed Bhutanese masses, not to help the autocratic regime of Wangchuk dynasty but cxtend their support towards Bhutan Communist Party (MLM) which is fighting in the forefront struggle of democracy, civil and human rights in the democratic struggle of Bhutan.

Is there an opening for Maoist revolution?

Is there a sudden opening in the walls of imperialism opening up to the Maoist international? The Communist Party India (MAOIST)
has succeeded in creating a guerrilla front that news agencies are starting to take seriosly.
Lately the Bhutan Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist) has announced plans to start a people’s war. It is a small country and could easily be succeptable to people’s war. The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has come close to a victory in that country. In the Phillipines the Communist Party and the New Peopple’s Army have begun to grow and tak the innitiative.
A few year ago, the thought of a people’s war seemed far fetched. But today it seems closer to become a reality. One major benifit from the war on terrorism is that the US government has spent so much time persuing Islamic radicals, that it is stretched thin and may not have much to contribute to these small Moaist insurgencies. The Islamic militants are the main insurgency the US has been batteling up to now, despite the development of Maoist Parties in Iraq and the consilidation of those in Afghanistan.
I used to worry that this site is being monitored by US intelegence, but I now realize that they simply don’t have the man power or the resources to do something about all these anti-government sites. There’s too many of them and they are focusing on the Islamics first. This gives us some breathing room to build our own movements.
We still have problems in the US and other developed nations where the working class and especially the middle classes are coopted by phoney works of freedom, a democratic facade and just enough affluence to convice workers they are part of the capitolist system. However, events in Europe, such as the riots in France, suggest these countries are not made of granit and they do have their weeknesses.
We are living in interesting times.

Merry Winter Solstice!

Much of what we think of during the US and European holiday season came from early European ancestor’s celebration of the winter solstice. Agnostics as myself, who don’t believe in organized religion or divine human figures, still like to honor our ancestors by celebrating this tradition with X-mass trees, Santa, lights and other holiday traditions. And of course many of us must go to our parent’s home or a close relative and show up for X-mass eve to keep peace in the family.

So for pagans, atheists and agnostics, Happy Winter Solstice.

Can You Pass the Acid Test? is a history of the US Counter Culture

Can You Pass the Acid Test?

: A History of the Drug and Sex Counterculture
and Its Censorship in the 20th Century

Ecerpts:

Most people think of the 1960s when they think of the counterculture.
Writers such as Hunter S. Thompson and acid gurus such as Timothy
Leary openly flaunted the use of drugs during those decades. In the film
Easy Rider, two hip young men traveled across the southern US on Harley
Hogs. Along with them was a generous supply of marijuana. The trip was
financed by a huge cocaine deal. Towards the end of the film, they took
LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) with some prostitutes. This was not the
first film to portray marijuana use, but unlike other films, there seem to be
no adverse consequences for using these drugs. Easy Rider was made in
1969, at the height of the 1960s drug counterculture.

Actually the “counterculture” that came to light in the 1960s started in
the mid to late 1950s and lasted until the mid-1970s. Many of the hardcore
counterculture events took place in 1969, the last year of the ’60s decade.
To most Americans the 1960s brought about rebellion against authority,
drug use and sexual promiscuity. But those things did not appear from
nowhere. They had their roots in small minority cultures that took place
years earlier.
The use of drugs and sexual promiscuity did not start in the 1960s.
Various drug- and sexual-oriented cultures have emerged since the
founding of the United States. Such cultures have come and gone over the
last thousand years. Opium parlors popped up in such cities as San
Francisco and they had white customers as well as the stereotypical
Orientals. Brothels were legal and even taxed during the wild west of the
mid-1800s.
Drugs have influenced our culture since the earliest civilizations. The
earliest known record of cocaine use is found on a three-inch ceramic
head of a Valdivian in Ecuador, in 1500 BC.1 Hector Berlioz wrote
“Symphonie Fantastique” in 1830, inspired by an opium dream he had.
Writers from the last three centuries have written on their drug
experiences. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes, was
devoted to opium. Fritz Hugh Ludlow wrote the classic Hashish Eater,
(published in 1857).2

There has been a history of literature and pop culture that thumbed its
nose at the puritanical and conservative political culture of early America.
At the turn of the century (about 1910), the Masses, a Greenwich Village
magazine, fused the cultural radicalism of American Bohemianism with
radical socialist politics. Various anarchists’ publications of the late
1800s promoted fee-love.
In recent years, as then, there have been attempts to suppress culture
that offends the puritan values of the US. By the 1990s politicians and
pundits of the right, far right and center left have called for a “culture war”
against the movie, music and television industry. This is not just for the
portrayal of drug use, but for sex, too much violence, themes involving
suicide, the acceptance of homosexuality and a number of other taboos as
well.
The US Senate held a three-hour hearing, November 6, 1997, to
criticize violent and “anti-social” song lyrics. Senator Sam Brownback,
R-Kansas, made it clear he wanted to shame the music industry into acting
more responsible.3
“Looking at the lyrics of some of this music... particularly in the shock
rock and gangster rap area, it’s very violent,” Brownback said. “It’s
hateful to women, much of it is quite racist, it glorifies things like cop
killing and date rape that I think everyone in society agrees is wrong.”4
These attacks are nothing new. At the beginning of the 20th century
Anthony Comstock introduced the Comstock Act. Comstock was a
Christian social activist who promoted censorship laws to suppress
anything of a sexual nature. He not only campaigned against pornography
and sinful behavior, he lobbied for federal and state anti-obscenity
legislation.5
Most drug laws were passed before or after the time of alcohol
prohibition. The main difference between alcohol and most other drugs
was that the other drugs were more closely linked to minorities in the eyes
of the public. Cocaine was associated with blacks, opium the Chinese and
marijuana the Mexican immigrants. Yet alcohol was seen at the time as a
vice of European immigrants. These immigrants were considered a threat
to the traditional middle-class values that have often been summed up as
White Anlgo-Saxon Protestant (WASP).
In the film Prohibition, Thirteen Years That Changed America, Ed
Asner, narrator, explained that “middle-class America feared that their
own moral values would be overwhelmed, corrupted, dragged down. For
many, Prohibition became a control mechanism, something to enforce
their values.”6 As the film further states, America had a large influx of
immigrants, who brought many aspects of their culture with them. As an
example, the German immigrants believed drinking beer was a normal
part of socializing. American Protestantism is based largely on
Puritanism. That philosophy was largely gone from Europe, but not from
the US.

In Kansas the monkeys run the zoo

Our new attorney general of Kans-Ass has just resigned He got caught with his pants down. He wasn't even in office long enough to decide if he was going to be any good or not. Our Democrat mayor is likely to pick a new attorney general. In the mean time we still have Phill Kline as the ass-wipe attorney of Johnson County near Kansas City.
He has fired competent attorneys (Kline is not presently affiliated with the Kansas legal bar for attorneys so he has no credentials to practice law. He also has been missing from his job and rented a tiny apartment he doesn't live in to qulify for his residency requirements. That part of the story is right after this Eagle story.

According to The Wichita Eagle:
"Morrison to resign as attorney general
By Eagle staff

Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison -- accused of sexual harrassment by a woman with whom he had an affair -- announced his resignation this afternoon.
Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison announced today that he will resign effective Jan. 31.
Morrison, who acknowledged an extramarital affair with a woman who has filed a complaint against him, called a 3 p.m. news conference to make the announcement."

And now for the former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, now the Johnson County Attorney:

In Johnson County there has become a game just like Where's Waldo, only Waldo wasn't the Johnson County Attorney, he didn't fire most of the qualified attorneys and we can only hope he showed up for work each day. Not so with Phill Kline. The news station KCTV has done a lot of work to find out where Kline really lives and what he does all day for a living. Just check out this clip from their station.Watch the video here:

More News From Bhutan

8 December, 2007 - After five months of exhaustive court proceedings, 30 people, who had joined the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) based in Nepal, were sentenced to prison terms ranging from five to nine years for conspiring to carry out subversive activities against Bhutan Monarchy, in favour of Democratic Republic and for People's War.

According to officials of the Samtse district court, the accused were sentenced in accordance with the provisions of the 'National Security Act of Bhutan', 1992, and the Penal Code of Bhutan, 2004. The court had found that, using a religious façade called the Srijana Sanskrit Sangathan, the group had held several meetings to discuss Maoist ideology and to collect money and food grain for the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist). People who attended the meetings were made to fill up membership forms, a court official said.

'Seditious' meetings were conducted in Katarey and Ugyentse in Samtse, during which the participants planned to recruit local people, set up camps in the forest for belonging to the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist), and to train locals in the use of weapons and explosives to start an armed rebellion (People's War) against the government.
Some of the accused, including two Class XII students, had gone to the refugee camps in eastern Nepal to attend briefing sessions on "Political and Ideology Training" conducted by the cadres of the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) to strengthen the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) in its activities against the Tsa-Wa-Sum.
Two women cadres from the camps in Nepal had met 13 of the accused at the Indian border town of Luksan in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, and instructed them to form a separate women's group (Revolutionary) to start a door to door awareness campaign of Maoist Communist ideology, to recruit party workers at the community level and to be prepared to undertake training in arms and explosives.
The Royal Bhutan Police believe that their main aim was to nurture and expand the Communist Party cadre so that they could set up camps inside Bhutan in collusion with the Maoist cadres of Nepal and ultimately start an armed rebellion against the government.
The Communist party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) is closely associated with the Maoist Party of Nepal. The Bhutan Tiger Force, is the militant wing of the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist).
All the convicts were apprehended by the Royal Bhutan Police in Samtse in May and June this year and the cases were forwarded to the dzongkhag court on June 29. Police recovered detonators and other materials used for making improvised explosive devices, membership forms of the Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) and All Bhutan Revolutionary Student Union, note-books containing revolutionary lyrics and coded membership lists, coded names and addresses of donors and five numbers of Nepali textbooks on Communist Party from the group.

Bhutan jails 30 'Maoists' Nepal National
Sunday 9th December, 2007 (IANS)
Bhutan has sent over two dozen people of Nepali origin to prison on the allegation that they were Maoists planning to launch an armed insurgency movement like in Nepal, a report said.Thirty people, said to be supporters of the Communist party of Bhutan-Marxist- Leninist- Maoist, received a nine-year sentence each, Bhutan's official daily Kuensel reported Saturday. Two of the 30 arrested are high school students. The group is alleged to have stayed in the refugee camps in eastern Nepal, where over 100,000 Bhutanese of Nepali origin have been languishing for 17 years after being evicted by the Bhutan government, and been trained in Maoist revolutionary philosophy there. With Bhutan facing an election, the government has begun a fresh crackdown on people of Nepali origin, suspecting them of being a threat to national security. The government media says Maoists have been holding frequent secret meetings in Bhutan to trigger an anti-monarchy movement there, and have been harassing residents for food and money.Kuensel said two women from the refugee camps in Nepal went to a village in India's Jalpaiguri town, where they gave training to over a dozen people.Bhutan's security agencies are alleging that the exiled Bhutan Communist Party has links with Nepal's Maoist guerrillas, who fought a decade-old war against monarchy before declaring a truce last year. It has been trying to start an armed insurrection in Bhutan again, security agencies say.The report blames an organisation, Bhutan Tiger Force, for an explosion in the capital Thimpu, alleging the BTF is close to the Maoists. The state media said that the police have confiscated Maoist literature and pamphlets from the arrested people. However, the evicted refugees who have been living in seven closed camps in eastern Nepal deny the allegations, calling it a ploy to block their repatriation.'These are baseless allegations intended to prevent us from returning home,' Bhutanese refugee leader Balaram Poudel said.Poudel and other senior refugee leaders have been trying in the past to stage 'Long Marches' back to Bhutan, but were thwarted by the Indian police guarding the strip of Indian land they have to cross to enter Bhutan.Over 108,000 refugees have been living in Nepal's tea garden districts of Jhapa and Morang for 17 years, hoping they would be able to return home one day. However, hopes started fading after several rounds of repatriation talks between Nepal and Bhutan failed. This year, the US offered to resettle the refugees in American cities and villages and the first resettlement is expected in January.Refugees like Poudel, who want to return to Bhutan, fear once third country resettlement starts, the lessening numbers of refugees in Nepal would ease the pressure on Bhutan to take the remaining numbers back. They also fear that if Bhutan thinks it can get away with the evictions, it will force more ethnic Nepalese to leave the kingdom.

The US media is consolidated further

Foreigners often tell us the independent news medias sound as if they are government owned and run. This video may explain one reason for that.

A tribute to John Lennon

Working Class Hero Lyrics print version
As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.
