In every revolution, the army is always an issue. Now that the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has won the right to form a new government, the old army is resisting giving up its majority on power. Armies are what make military coups and the right wing governments that follow. In El Salvador, the fighters of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front where allowed to keep some fighters in a national police force. Even in Nicaragua, the Sandinista’s Army, the only army it had, couldn’t keep right wing governments from winning elections and making a lot of right wing changes. The FMLN in El Salvador has gained little since the end of its armed struggle more than 20 years ago. So it’s not surprising that the military wing of the CPN(M) is having the same problem right now. The rightist alliance of NC, UML and MJF has put the future of PLA in question. Recently, a Congress leader said: ‘Considering the mutinies in the armed police barracks, the integration of the PLA into the National army will be a disaster.

By creating harsh conditions in the cantonment, the government is trying to cause disenchantment and frustration among the PLA soldiers.
The reactionaries want the PLA to disintegrate by itself. National and international reactionaries are trying to stop the Maoist from forming a government. When the rightist alliance government is in place, they will formulate ways to get rid of the PLA. If they try to get rid of the PLA, there will be resistance that may lead to civil war. The PLA will have no choice but take up arms again.

Pat Roberts – A man of the people?!

I’ve seen this commercial at least four times a day. Don’t commercials cost money? Where is this money coming from? Are all those “just plain folks” Senator Pat Roberts, Republican from Kansas, claims he works for shelling out hundred dollar bills so he can run against a high paid lobbyist who isn’t even campaigning yet. Where are Jim Slattery’s commercials? If he makes so much money lobbying, why isn’t he spending it yet?

Where are the good paying jobs? Most people in Kansas don’t make that much money and we are loosing a lot of our aircraft industry jobs.

Son ellos que dirigen la guerra contrarrevolucionar ia y por los tanto todos los horrores perpetrados por las Fuerzas Armadas del viejo Estado peruano, y todas sus Fuerzas Auxiliares, son también responsabilidad directa del imperialismo yanqui. Lo nuevo que esta ocurriendo este año es que los Estados Unidos ya comienzan a enviar unidades de combate de las Fuerzas Armadas regulares para que participen en la "guerra de baja intensidad". Todo esto, en momentos en que los Estados Unidos han recreado su Cuarta Flota, encargada de defender su interés imperialistas en América Latina, que entrará en actividad el 1 de julio del presente año, y la cual tiene como su principal objetivo el de dirigir “operaciones combinadas en las denominadas guerras contra las drogas y el terrorismo”. Una fuerza expedicionaria a la cual se ha puesto como jefe al actual jefe del Comando de Operaciones Especiales de Guerra Naval, contralmirante Joseph Kernan, especialista en acciones de terror contrarrevolucionar io. Esta nueva campaña del enemigo, dentro de su “nuevo plan” y todas las medidas consiguientes, prueban abiertamente el fracaso de la reacción en la aplicación de más de 15 años de su estrategia de guerra contrarrevolucionar ia de “de baja intensidad”, dirigida por el imperialismo yanqui. También prueba abiertamente que la guerra popular ha avanzado, pues es con ella, desarrollando las "contracampañ as de cerco y aniquilamiento" , que se han derrotado los planes del enemigo. McCain tries the Iraq “surge” card

Claiming that the surge in Iraq is a great success, John McCain is counting on this anti-terrorist rhetoric to try and make Barack Obama look soft on terrorism. He claims that violence is way down and the Iraqis are turning on Al-Qaeda and the Sunni militias. But LOW violence is not the same as NO VIOLENCE. Also, Al-Qaeda and the Suni militias were not the problem. Suni militias are doing most of the fighting.

Darfur? Where's McCain? Bush?

When looking at the article below, one thing stands out. Where is the US? Or where is Prez. George Bush? In places like Darfur he’s like the character in the old “Where’s Waldo” books. He only shows up when there are resources to fight over. He intended predisesor, John McCain is the same way. If there are no resources, oil, land, needed resources, there is no interest. Throught out the article, the US and it’s leaders are missing. Darfur has mostly starving, sick and dying people. No oil or furtile land to fight for. So unlike Zimbabwe – on this issue – the US is not there.

Sudanese president charged with genocide in Darfur

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court filed genocide charges Monday against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, accusing him of masterminding attempts to wipe out African tribes in Darfur with a campaign of murder, rape and deportation.
The filing marked the first time prosecutors at the world's first permanent, global war crimes court have issued charges against a sitting head of state, but al-Bashir is unlikely to be sent to The Hague any time soon. Sudan rejects the court's jurisdiction, and senior Sudanese officials said the prosecutor was politically motivated to file the charges.
Luis Moreno-Ocampo asked a three-judge panel at the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for al-Bashir to prevent the slow deaths of some 2.5 million people forced from their homes in Darfur and still under attack from government-backed janjaweed militia.
"Genocide is a crime of intention — we don't need to wait until these 2.5 million die," he told The Associated Press.
"The genocide is ongoing," he added, saying systematic rape was a key element of the campaign. "Seventy-year-old women, 6-year-old girls are raped," he said.

“Freed US hostage denounces Colombian rebels

FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Among the smiles and hugs shared by three American hostages freed last week from rebels in Colombia and their families, one of the men on Monday angrily denounced their captors as "terrorists with a capital 'T.'"
Marc Gonsalves said the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which held him and two other U.S. military contractors in captivity for more than five years, refuses to acknowledge human rights and rejects democracy. They use revolution as a justification for criminal activity, he said.
"I want to send a message to the FARC," Gonsalves said. "FARC, you guys are terrorists. You deny that you are, you say with words that you're not terrorists, but your words don't have any value. Don't tell us that you're not terrorists, show us that you're not terrorists."

The FARC are terrorists as opposed to those who spary poison on pleople’s farms, help the fascist government of Alvaro Uribe control the country through armed force and maybe these wankers didn’t realize that much of what the CIA has been doing, ( water bording and torture at Gitmo) makes them equally terrorists. The one mistake the FARK made was not just shooting these American traitors when they had the chance. These contractors the CIA hires are the scum of the earth.

“Freed Colombian hostages urge hope

BOGOTA, Colombia - Freed after years as rebel-held hostages, French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt and four Colombian police officers sent messages of hope in a radio broadcast Sunday to captives still detained in remote jungle camps.
The former hostages appeared on an all-night radio program aimed at rebel captives and wept as they recalled their ordeal, which ended four days ago when Colombian agents duped guerrillas and airlifted 15 hostages to freedom.
"Hostage brothers, what happened to us has more than proved that God exists," said police Cpl. John Jairo Duran. "Don't let yourselves be conquered by sadness. We never thought it would be our turn to be free, and it was. Your turn is very near."
Bogota's Caracol Radio has broadcast the weekly "Voices of Kidnapping" program for the benefit of rebel-held hostages for 14 years, inviting their relatives to call in with messages that hostages often are able to hear via portable radio.”

They can broadcast radio signals to those in the FARC territory but they our government has managed to shut down the web link to the FARC. For years now, anyone wanting to know what the FARC stand for or what they think of these situations could go to http://www.farcep.org/. But now the onty thing that pops up from that web address is “This program cannot display the webpage.” So much for freedom of speech. We apparently live in a government that feels it has the right to give us one side of an argument and silence the other side.
That’s freedom of speech US style.

One of the last and worst of the Dixie Senators from the last century has finally done us a favor by dying off. We couldn’t seem to vote the scum bag bigot out of office, so death was our only hope. As vicious as the stinking bastard was, my one regret is that we couldn’t douse him with gasoline and burn him alive as the soldiers of the Augusto Pinochet, government of Chile did to two student protesters during his 26 years. A proper funeral for him would be to burn his body and hang it upside down from a quick trip parking lot so the rest of us could spit on him for a weak. To review his career:

"Former Republican Sen. Jesse Helms dies at 86

RALEIGH, N.C. - Former Sen. Jesse Helms, an unyielding champion of the conservative movement who spent three combative and sometimes caustic decades in Congress, where he relished his battles against liberals, Communists and occasionally a fellow Republican, died on the Fourth of July. He was 86.
An iconic figure of the South, remembered by many for his opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Helms had faded from public view as his health declined. He died of natural causes early Friday morning at the Raleigh convalescent home where he had lived for the past several years. "He was very comfortable," said former chief of staff Jimmy Broughton.
Helms was a polarizing figure, both at home and in Washington. He delighted in forcing roll-call votes that required Democrats to take politically difficult votes on federal funding for art he deemed pornographic, school busing, flag-burning and other cultural issues. Among his first forays into politics was working in 1950 to elect segregationist candidate Willis Smith to the Senate, and he later fought against much of the civil rights movement.
In 1993, when then-President Clinton sought confirmation for an openly homosexual assistant secretary at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Helms registered his disgust. "I'm not going to put a lesbian in a position like that," he said in a newspaper interview at the time. "If you want to call me a bigot, fine."
He took a dim view of many arms control treaties, and supported the contras in Nicaragua as well as the right-wing government of El Salvador. He opposed the Panama Canal treaties that then-President Carter pushed through a reluctant Senate in 1977."

He openly supported death squad leaders in El Salvador during the 1980s and despite all the bigotry, which included blacks and gays, the creep was treated with great respect by the rest of the Senate, with some of his colleges calling him a “great judge of moral issues.” I guess burning and killing those we disagree with is a positive moral aspect of the United States.

In his later writings, Paine condemned the Federalists for trying to reverse the US revolution and what it stood for.

We condemned the Sandinista revolution against a dictator, we support Saudi Arabia, one of the most complete feudal societies on earth, and we are now attempting to be the next Roman empire, controlling all of the Middle-East and as the news reported yesterday, destroying all revolutionary or progressive movements in the Southern American Hemisphere.

Today we have president, barely elected by the people, who has instituted torture, concentration camps and imperialist ambitions on a grand scale. WE need Tom Paine today. Empires and dictatorship are not what this country was supposed to be about. It’s time for the next move, from Capitalism to Socialism.
