Health care debate continues

From The Wichita Eagle:

Kansans must help shape health reform
“Congress at last is tackling health care reform this summer, at the urging of President Obama and his secretary of Health and Human Services, former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
An issue so central to how Americans live — and die — demands bipartisanship. It will be tragic if the politically toxic atmosphere on Capitol Hill turns health reform into a one-party show. Yet there are rumbles about congressional Democrats preparing to ram through a health care overhaul by whatever procedural method, and slim margin, they deem necessary.”

The biggest problem with health care are those congress people who worry more about insurance companies than the welfare of their people. The insurance companies are just vultures on the health care system. The people get ignored because they don’t have the large lobbying force of the insurance companies. And many have bought the lie that the government can’t run anything efficiently, which leaves health care in the hands of insurance companies.

Wichita holds Gay Pride Parade

Wichita’s Gay Pride Parade was well attended this year, with more than 200 and few right wing Christian wackos to interfere. Once again, gay people from all walks of life in Wichita showed they are not going to cower in the closet as the Christian right would like them to do.
This year’s event was especially important because it marked the 4oth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a watershed moment in the history of the modern Gay rights movement.
The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City. They are frequently cited as the first instance in American history when people in the homosexual community fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted sexual minorities, and they have become the defining event that marked the start of the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.
Sunday’s parade ended at Naftzger Park where music and booths were set up.

The Late Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was a controversial singer. But was he ever more than just an entertainer? He was one of the most successful black musicians and for that matter, one of the most successful entertainers in recent US history. Now there is suspicion that he may have died of prescription drugs he got from a personal physician.

Maoist Rebels taking the Lalgarh area in India

There seems to be increasing military actions with the Maoist insurgency in India. Recent reports show that the government of India is becoming alarmed at the growth of the insurgents and have made their political party illegal. A large fight is going on in the town of Lalgarh, which the rebels now claim to run.

According to
http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAOIST_REVOLUTION:

As the state Government makes claims of having "liberated" the Lalgarh police station and its surrounding areas, groups of armed Maoist squads continue to roam around the area where the reactionary forces are posted at present. In Gaoltore and Lalgarh they are just half a kilometre from the police stations where the forces have set up base camps — holding meetings, taking positions.
The fact remains that out of 280 villages in the Lalgarh block, the reactionary forces have command over only three right now while of the 453 villages in Goaltore, they control only two. Maoists hold sway in the rest.
So, as they prepare for the second phase of the operations — which looks set to start from Friday — state and Central security forces expect it to be the toughest. ISRO's help has been sought for satellite imagery to track movement of people around Lalgarh and the troubled regions.

Communiqué no 6

People Beware!
Moussavi is neither your brother, nor is he with you!

May be for many of you who are engaged in bloody battle with the enemy these words sound very unpleasant, but open your eyes and ears!
Mir Hossein Moussavi in his fifth communiqué called on you to “consider Basijis to be your brothers”! This means you should consider those who in the past week have mutilated the bodies of your dearest sons and daughters with knives and machetes, as your beloveds. Moussavi in his communiqué told people “not to consider Revolutionary Guard and the Army to be against you”! This means those who under the orders of Khomeini have taken up the task of smashing your uprising and shooting at our young people in different corners of country, should be considered as friends of people!

Young people be alert!

Moussavi claims that “the genuine call of Islamic revolution” is what has moved you! This is a blatant lie. He very well knows what has moved you is the incentive of “changing the status quo”. He is hiding the truths of the matter. You should know that change can only come through overthrow of the Islamic Republic. In his communiqué, Moussavi claimed that “the heritage of enlightened Imam Khomeini” [the founder of the IRI] is what has lifted you up. Another lie! How could, the “heritage” of such criminal, have inspired you? He, who just after seizing power lashed out against women forcing them into wearing veils and outlawing whatever meager rights they had. How could have such criminal inspired you? He, who right after seizure of power, sent the Revolutionary Guards to suppress the people of Kurdistan, Khoozestan and Turkmen Sahra.

Brave young women and men, pay attention to real demands of Moussavi!

He has come to invite you again to “the Islamic revolution as it was and the Islamic republic as it should be”. He has come to impose on you: “you should not defy the sacred system of Islamic republic and its legal structures”. And that, you should only seek a reform: “a reform with the goal of returning to pure principles of the Islamic Revolution”.

Beware! And ask about the true meaning of “pure principles of Islamic Revolution” from your parents, from those who just like you today, bore the wounds of thousands of lashes and swords on their bodies, those of the older generation who witnessed the stealing and beheading of a genuine and popular revolution by the Islamic counter revolution. Ask parents of tens of thousands of political prisoners who were massacred, ask the parents of hundreds of thousands of youth whose children were sent to the butchering fields of the reactionary war with Iraq, for nothing at all. Ask Kurds, Turkemans, Baluches and Arabs, whose homes turned into ruins, as the workers and peasants whose cries for justice was shut down with bullets. Ask women who still carry the wounds of blades and acids on their bodies and are forced into veil. Look at the society that is drowning in corruption, destruction, superstition, dark religious ignorance, in drug addiction and prostitution. These are the fruits of those “pure principles of Islamic Revolution”. “Principles”, against which you have courageously risen up. If Moussavi desires a return to “pure principles”, he must go sit with Khamenei.

Communiqué No 7:

We Will Smash the State of Siege!

The scenes that played out in the streets and alleys of central Tehran on Saturday night, June 20th, made the events such as September 1978 [the first times Shah’s army shot the crowd of a demonstration in Teheran in the events leading to Revolution of February 1979)] look like a child’s game. The intensity of fighting, and the number of women and men who, with their lives in their hands, were standing firm in the front lines and driving back the armed herds of violent thugs, was unprecedented. The Islamic regime who is terrified of the rising tide of people’s protests gave the ultimatum (last warning) to people through Khamenei’s call on Friday prayers. In utmost desperation, the Islamic regime is heavily relying on security forces and military clamp down of the masses. Illusions have evaporated, the cunning religious preaching and the myths of Imam Zaman* can no longer fool the angry people; the lies of State media can no longer put to sleep the masses who have risen up. Instead its lies fan the flames of popular anger. The only things left for the murderous ruling gang to safeguard its rule are guns, batons, teargas, chains, and herds of anti-riot and law and order forces, basijis and finally the army.

The brutal attack that started since Saturday afternoon against scattered but numerous crowds not only did not succeed in ending the protest but rather helped to expanded it to various popular areas of Teheran. The units of basij and anti-riot used the tactic of separating (dividing) the crowd into smaller groups and then encircling and crushing each group. This tactic was working at the beginning, but it didn’t take long before the scattered masses re-gathered in the streets and alleys in the surrounding area and this time with a spirit and methods totally different from that of demonstrations of the last couple of weeks. In this scene of street war covered with clouds of teargas, earth and heaven were shaking with the sound of slogans and shouts. And this time slogans were directly targeting the Islamic republic and its leader: “death to Islamic Republic!” “death to dictator!” “death to Khamenei!” “Government of Coup d’etat, Resign, Resign”. There was not much room for Allah o akbar (god is great). A young person on the street corner wrote with blue spray painting: “Even Shah heard the cry of my revolution! But Jamaran is Deaf!” (Jamaran is the headquarters of the Leader) Streets were littered with shoes, handbags, mobile phones, and other things that were left from the demonstrators. Somewhat further, youth put fire on any garbage they could put their hands on in order to fight the effects of the teargas. Youth punished the forces of suppression with stones and sticks wherever they could. But the brutality of the thugs knew no bounds. Blood was flowing from heads and necks. Clothes were torn up, the forced veil was abolished in the heat of fighting and head scarves were being used as masks for covering faces. Those who were slowly arriving from different various part of Teheran towards Enghelab and Azadi (Revolution and Liberation, the name of two streets the fighting was happening – the names where put on these streets after 79 rev!!!) expecting the same peaceful and millions-strong demonstrations of last week, suddenly found themselves facing a war zone. Those who had come to demonstration with family (in family form, members of family) stood on side walks staring at clashes. But very soon they became the target of batons, chains and lashes of Basij for “unlawful gathering”. The reactionary violence was so widely applied that the idea of rightful violence rapidly presented itself among the many

Red Hot Chili Peppers - I Found Out

Terrorist websites here in the USA

Anyone who wants to see what US right wing terrorist believe can visit their web sites. The Army of God is at http://www.armyofgod.com/. From that site, a person can visit the personal sites of all the assassins of abortion clinic doctors. Paul Hill has his own website where he justifies his murder and the Army of God calls him a “hero.” Hill shot Dr. John Britton. Hill has found the time to write a book, proudly displayed on his site, explaining the virtues of his murder.
Our government claims it will stop terrorist from putting up websites, but they have done nothing to stop the Army of God, whose members have clearly carried out acts of terrorism against legal abortion clinics.

Defiance from DPR (North) Korea

The following is an editorial for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The un-translated version, below, is about the same, except it mentions their nuclear deterrence, missile launches and Hillary Clinton

From the DPR of (North) Korea News Agency:

U.S. Interference in Internal Affairs of Other Countries under Fire
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- The reality requires more urgently than ever before to frustrate the U.S. moves for interference in the internal affairs of other countries, defend the sovereignty of the country and nation and guarantee the sound and smooth development of the international relations, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article. It goes on:
The interference in the internal affairs of other countries and nations precisely means an infringement upon their sovereign rights. What political mode each country chooses and by what method it develops its economy is an issue pertaining to its own sovereign right. Therefore, no one is mandated to interfere in it and instruct those countries to do this or that.
But such practices have become all the more pronounced in the international arena nowadays.
Citing facts to prove that the U.S. interfered in the elections in other countries in an undisguised manner in recent years, the article goes on;
The said move of the U.S. is not limited to the elections only. It is being persistently perpetrated in various fabrics of social life including politics, economy, culture and military affairs.
It is an important task directly related to the destiny of each country and nation to frustrate the U.S. moves for interference in internal affairs, ensure political stability and defend the sovereignty of the country and nation. The destiny of each country and nation depends upon the struggle for defending its sovereignty. A single-step concession to the U.S. interference in internal affairs made by a certain country and nation would force it to make tens and hundreds steps backward and this will eventually lead to a serious consequence of having its sovereignty infringed upon.
The mighty way of smashing the U.S. moves for interference in internal affairs is to bolster up the national defence capability.
The U.S. is openly interfering in the internal affairs of those countries with weak military potentials, looking down upon them.
Its vicious interference in the internal affairs of the DPRK only brought failure and frustration to it as the DPRK has strong national capability for self-defence.
The powerful Songun politics and the military power of the DPRK serve as a reliable means for foiling the U.S. interference in internal affairs and defending the sovereignty and dignity of the country.

민주조선 《특등매국노의 역겨운 구걸놀음》-《핵확장억제전력제공》

From the DPR of (North) Korea News Agency:

Rally defends Dr. Tiller

WICHITA, Kansas

Operation Rescue has been planning for a series of anti-abortion activities in Wichita, this weekend. They’re planned a prayer vigil at the Living Word Outreach Church Friday night.

Saturday, Operation Rescue planned to have a memorial service at Dr. George Tiller’s former clinic. Demonstrators from the Kansas Chapter of the National Organization for Women will held a counter-protest at the clinic in support of abortion rights. There were about 100 people who showed up to support abortion rights. As of 3p.m., Operation Rescue had not showed up at Tiller’s former clinic.

Many people there told members of the news media that holding an anti-abortion event was disrespectful to Dr. George Tiller and his family. Some said it was like dancing on his grave.

Iran dissent is factional change - not a revolution

The US media and government continue to be titillated by the unrest in Iran. The mass demonstrations seem real enough and probably don’t need help from the west, although the US would love to be involved. The reality is that this is probably not going to lead to a real revolution, but simply allow a different faction to take control of the presidency.

However, the Maoist in Iran are encouraging the uprising and hoping for more than just a different president. Here is a document from the website of the Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist):

You wanted a fight? Let’s fight!

Following is a leaflet issued 15 June by the Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist). The title is a challenge to the regime.

Rebellion, revolutionary situation, an explosion of the hatred felt by millions of people throughout the country: it doesn't matter what you call the recent events. What matters is that we have entered a new period. Many bridges have been broken and in many spheres there is no return to past. The young women and men fighting courageously in the streets reflect the discontent and anger of three generations. Faces are bloody, bodies bruised, but nobody is talking about retreat or surrender. Armed-to-the-teeth mercenaries and herds of lumpen are wandering the streets but nobody pays any attention to them. Parents accompany their children in the streets. The initial shock and demoralization is rapidly disappearing.

In the mind of millions, the Islamic Republic of Iran's disgrace in the election farce has discredited the "possibility of change and the rectification of the regime from within" far more rapidly and effectively than any political debate and reasoning. The leading faction took a serious gamble with this. And now may of the rebellious youth are thinking about ways for effectively getting rid of the regime.

There was a clear example of this yesterday in the students' response to Zahra Rahnavard [married to Mir-Hossein Mousavi] who had gone to [Tehran] university to calm them down: "We didn't come to battle for the presidency of Mousavi, we have come to defeat the coup and smash the dictators' set-up".

US will increase spying on Mexico

The US will now get more involved with the drug problems in Mexico. But this new cooperation is bound to amount to less autonomy for Mexico and more intervention on the part of the US.
According to The Wichita Eagle, Jun. 17:

“WASHINGTON - U.S. immigration agents soon will get expanded powers to fight Mexican drug cartels, Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress on Wednesday.
Under a new deal aimed at settling a long-running turf dispute with the Drug Enforcement Administration, more agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement would get authority to investigate drug cases.
When Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., asked the attorney general about the issue, Holder said an announcement was imminent on a new agreement between the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security. Holder said he had discussed the matter the night before with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.”

This will account to more spying on Mexican citizens. It will not help the drug situation. As in the past, our DEA has used drugs as an excuse to spy on innocent civilians in foreign countries.

The Mass Uprising in Lalgarh, India

From People's Truth,
http://www.bannedth ought.net/ India/PeoplesTru th/PeoplesTruth0 5.pdf:

After Singur and Nanidgram, now it is the turn of Lalgarh. While the first two mass eruptions in West Bengal were over displacement of the peasants from their fertile lands which were handed over to the big comprador sharks, the Lalgarh adivasi uprising was against the high-handedness and atrocities by the police and, of course, by the social fascist goons of the ruling CPI(M). It is the first mass uprising that had erupted on such a massive scale against police atrocities in post-1947 India barring, of course, Kashmir and North East. One is reminded of the mass uprising of Manipur against atrocities by the Indian Army and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in the wake of the rape of Manorama.
Described as the biggest adivasi rebellion ever in the state and as the second Santhal rebellion, the militant mass uprising in Lalgarh drew banner headlines for several weeks following the land-mine attack on the convoy of the West Bengal chief minister, Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, and a host of other VVIPs, including two Union Ministers, Ramvilas Paswan and Jitendra Prasad, and top industrialist, Ashok Jindal, on November 2, 2008 near Salboni in West Midnapore district. The convoy was attacked by Maoist guerrillas when it was returning from Salboni after Buddhadeb’s inauguration of a mega-steel project being set up by Jindal at a cost of over Rs. 12,000 crores and for which 4,500 acres of land was acquired by the so-called Left Front government. Three policemen, including an inspector and two constables, were suspended following the land-mine blast.
What sparked off the rebellion was the brutal reign of terror unleashed by the police in the Lalgarh region committing indescribable atrocities on innocent people. Along with state terror, the social-fascist goons belonging to the CPI (M) had pounced on the villages with fire-arms, abducting and beating up people on suspicion of being sympathetic to the Maoists. On November 3, West Midnapore police raided far-flung villages of Lalgarh at the Belpahari end of Jangalmahal, and detained 15 people. Three of these were school-kids who were tortured badly and charged with sedition or waging war against the state, conspiracy and use of explosives. Two are Class IX students of Katapahari High School and the third is a Class VII student of a Lalgarh school. They were returning after attending a village festival on the 3rd evening when police picked them up and lined them up with four other ‘suspects’ arrested in the case. These incidents provoked the initial protests. But paying little heed to the growing anger and protest of the people the police continued with their terror campaign.
In Kantaphari village one Deepak Pratihar was arrested on November 4 and his pregnant wife Lakshmi was assaulted. Another ten people, including a retired teacher and a contractor from Choto Pelia village, were arrested as police raids continued in 35 villages in Lalgarh block. The turning point came when the Lalgarh police tortured 11 adivasi women on the mid-night of Nov 6 in Chhoto Pelia. Mrs. Chitamoni Murmu, a poor Santhal woman, had lost her vision after being struck with a rifle butt on her left eye by a policeman. Some like Panmani Hansda suffered fractures. This brutal incident, which took place in Chhotopelia when only women folk were resent at the time of the police raid, served as the spark that set off a prairie fire spreading to the rest of West Midnapore and neighbouring Bankura and Purulia districts too.

Wichita Won’t diversity, won’t have jobs

The latest forecast in The Wichita Eagle is that jobs will begin to recover in 2012. But will they?

According to The Wichita Eagle:

Experts predict Wichita's economy will rebound by 2012
BY DAN VOORHIS
The Wichita Eagle
Green shoots. That's what President Obama calls the first tentative signs of recovery: The upswing in the stock market, the bump in consumer confidence.
But jobs are different.
Jobs are the last thing to go in a plunge and the last to come back in a recovery. That's why companies are still laying people off 18 months after the official start of the recession in December 2007.
A new forecast from economic forecasting firm IHS Global Insight predicts that Wichita will regain the number of jobs it had at its employment peak by the second quarter of 2012.
Some analysts say that seems realistic, while others say that may be too optimistic.”

But Wichita suffers from tunnel vision. They put all their eggs in one basket – the aircraft industry. The Aircraft plants have outsourced a lot of jobs, leaving more minimum wage jobs and less union paid jobs. Meanwhile they build large expensive homes as if millionaires are flocking to this city.
They continue to use up agricultural land for housing developments so fast that Wichita can no longer claim to be tied to the agriculture industry. The aircraft industry may never fully recover from this recession and there are no other really big industries to take over.
The leadership of Wichita is made up of people with short sited goals who have no long term vision at all and seem incapable of planning any kind of diversification. Of course the same in-bread Republicans that get elected in the rest of the state seem to dominate Wichita as well. Such backward looking people can’t be expected to fix anything on their own.

Tiller’s murderers may not have won after all

The anti-abortion wingnuts may not have won after all. Doctor LeRoy Carhart has declared his intentions to relocate in Wichita, KS to continue his practice.
From KSN News 3:

“Wichita, Kansas - Doctor LeRoy Carhart has been in Wichita, performing abortions for a decade.
Today, he says he wants to continue the work of Dr. George Tiller in providing late term abortions.
Carhart says, "My ideal (location) would be in Wichita, but, anywhere in Kansas. We're looking for an alternative site to provide abortion care for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters that are medically indicated."

In fact, Dr. Carhart says as soon as he can find a building, he will be open for business.”
If this happens the anti-abortionists will not be able to claim victory in Wichita.

News on Maoist expansion in India

From
http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAOIST_REVOLUTION:

Maoist rebellion: India's big security worry - from reactionary press (for information only)
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Maoist rebels in India are rapidly expanding their insurgency and could move from remote rural areas to cities, a top security official said on Tuesday.
The rebels are estimated to have 22,000 fighters, and have spread to more than 180 of the country's 630 districts from just 56 in 2001, government and independent data says.
"They have a very comprehensive plan to spread their tentacles into other parts of the country, including urban areas," M.L. Kumawat, special secretary (Internal Security) told Reuters in an interview.
"We now need highly specialised forces to deal with the sophisticated weapons they have. Our police forces will be capable, I cannot say they are capable to deal with them now."
Equipped with automatic weapons, shoulder rocket launchers, mines and explosives, the Maoists want to cripple economic activity. Last year they carried out at least 1,000 attacks, but most of these were in remote jungles and villages.
The Maoists, who say they are fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, control some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large swathes of the eastern, central and southern countryside.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has described the Maoist rebellion as one of the gravest security threats to India.
The Maoists have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s.
But some recent attacks have been carried out closer to cities, and one such attack in Nayagarh, just 87 km (54 miles) from the state capital of mineral-rich Orissa, showed that they were moving closer. Similar attacks have taken place in towns in West Bengal state.
Kumawat said interrogation of Maoist leaders, recently arrested from cities like Bangalore and the state of Haryana, revealed their urban plans.
"Right now they may not be violent in these areas, but their presence cannot be ruled out ... the Naxal (Maoists) problem is not confined to one or two states anymore."
They are also in touch with other militant groups operating in Kashmir and the northeast, Kumawat said. "They are supporting other extremist groups in Jammu and Kashmir, and have linkages with northeastern militant groups."
Kumawat, who is also the chief of the Border Security Force (BSF), India's main frontier guarding agency, said $1.7 billion would be spent over the next five years to increase deployments along Pakistan and Bangladesh borders and modernise the force.
"After all there are training camps of many militant groups across the border and we have to strengthen our force."

Maoists warn to resume people's war

Another leader said that their retaliation would extremely violent and the current government would be responsible for its consequences.
The demonstrating Maoists loudly chanted slogans against the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party Nepal-United Marxist Leninist.
The local administration had to clamp curfew in Banepa yesterday after the clash between the town residents and the Maoists turned violent during the banda called by the Maoist affiliated Tamang Rastriya Mukti Morcha.
Also today, Maoist cadres who reached Banepa to take part in the rally damaged the UML District Office by pelting stones.

Peru’s military and indigenes clash over rain forest

The government of Peru has massacred 60 indigenes people in order to let foreign oil and national gas companies mine in the Amazon Rain Forest. The indigenes people’s rightfully claim that the land is theirs and is not to be exploited with out talking to them. They have defended the land against military units using only roadblocks and spears. For a more information click here, The Real News.

Clinic closes, murder paid off.

The anti-abortion whackos in Wichita now have what they wanted. George Tiller’s clinic is closed and there are no other abortion clinics in Wichita. By murdering Tiller they got what they have struggled for, for the last 20 years. They have run all abortion providers out of Wichita. There were three clinics here at one time. The first, Tiller bought out. The second couldn’t afford the security measures of Tiller.
There may be more clinics to open in the future, but for now the fascist Christian Right has won a major victory in Wichita. They used violence and intimidation as their primary weapon of choice.

More attacks in Peru

The following is from
http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAOIST_REVOLUTION:

LIMA, June 5 -- At least seven soldiers from the Peruvian Army (EP) died when their helicopter was knocked down in the Sanabamba zone in Ayacucho department, South Andean, reporters said on Friday.
The event occurred on Friday morning when the helicopter was flying the zone and it was attacked with large-range weapons, by the Communist Party Of Perú (PCP).
AlsoLIMA – At least one soldier died and four more were wounded in an attack launched by Communist Party Of Perú (PCP) against the military base at Sanabamba in the Ayacucho region. On Friday the attack occurred during a changing of troops at the military base, when a helicopter arrived bringing reinforcements.Defense Ministry officials said that the aircraft was not shot down, but was hit by several bullets in the fuselage.Soldiers at the Sanabamba base are carrying out an offensive against the PCP in the valley of the Aspurimac and Ene rivers (VRAE), who move throughout this jungle region in an attempt to establish base areas. It was in that same area that the PCP ambushed an army patrol last Easter Week, leaving 14 soldiers dead. The Maoist-inspired group launched its uprising on May 17, 1980, with an attack on Chuschi, a small town in Ayacucho province.

Feds to investigate Roeder’s accomplices

The federal government is finally going to investigate as to whether there were any accomplices in the murder of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
According to The Wichita Eagle, Jun. 05, 2009:

"The Department of Justice will work tirelessly to determine the full involvement of any and all actors in this horrible crime," said Loretta King, head of the department's civil rights division.
Anyone who played a role in the killing, she said, will be prosecuted "to the full extent of federal law."
The department will seek to determine if the killing violated a 1994 law creating criminal penalties for violent or damaging conduct toward abortion providers and their patients.
Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams said his investigation of the case would continue and run parallel to the federal effort.”

Finding accomplices shouldn’t be that hard since Cheryl Sullenger, of Operation Rescue, was in constant contact with Scott Roeder, the alleged gunman in the death. Sullenger was sending Roeder twitter messages for some time, leading up to the shooting.

Fundamentalist Christians lack a sense of reality

Fundamentalist Christian beliefs are antagonistic towards both science and logic. This example, from a letter to The Wichita Eagle’s editorial page, June 5, demonstrates the ignorance generated by a literal interpretation of the Bible:

“Darwinian evolution and Christianity are mutually exclusive. The unholy trinity of evolution is matter, time and chance, and it is entirely atheistic. Perhaps people purposely deceive themselves in order to be accepted by the intellectual elitists of the day, or are just naive to the significance of the debate. Evolutionists blaspheme God's name by denying His word. Evolution is degrading to the dignity of man, while creation says we are made in the image of God and unique in all of His creation.”

This person actually believes that years of study, observation and research dedicated to understanding the Earth’s development are fiction and the universe was created by a magic show put on by a god. It’s hard to believe than anyone would embrace such illogical beliefs, and yet these letters are common in The Wichita Eagle’s editorial page.

Actions in the Philippines, India and Nepal

There has been a lot of activity in Asia the last week. Maoist guerrillas have been active in the Philippines and India. The clash between the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and the newly formed coalition under the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Leninist) coalition seems to be intensifying.
The following actions took place over the last week.

Rigoberto F. Sanchez Spokesperson Merardo Arce Command Southern Mindanao Regional Operational Command New People's Army May 31, 2009
The Philippine National Police contingent in Compostela Valley Province again suffered a heavy blow after two successive New People's Army tactical offensives last week. Yet again, this showcases the tactical initiative held by the people's army against the intruding forces of the GRP armed forces and police units.
On May 26, 2009, Red fighters of the NPA's Rhyme Petalcorin Command of Guerilla Front 27 ambushed an enemy column composed of troops of the PNP 1102nd Provincial Mobile Group and Special Action Force and some Cafgu elements conducting patrol operations in Barangay Mainit, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province. Seven enemy combatants were killed in action. The 1001st Brigade-10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army ordered an aerial bombing the following day, causing fear to farmers and their families.
On the evening of May 29, 2009, a platoon of the 3rd Pulang Bagani Company-NPA disarmed another 1102nd Provincial Mobile Group-PNP squad assigned as a security force of the APEX Mining Corporation in Barangay Masara, Maco, Comval. Swiftly seized were five high-powered rifles consisting of four (4) M16 armalites and one (1) M14 rifle after being surprised by the raiding NPA unit that entered the company compound. Since the target PNP unit did not make any armed resistance, they did not have any casualty.

"The Maoists blew up the outpost using landmines. They also burnt two motorcycles near the building," a witness said.

Links to Tiller’s killer from Operation Rescue.

Cheryl Sullenger, of the Wichita branch of Operation Rescue, was in constant contact with Scott Roeder, the alleged killer of Dr. George Tiller. A postit note was found in Roeders car with her number on it and she had been texting him as to Tiller’s whereabouts.
Sullenger has a history of violent anti-abortion activities. In 1988 was convicted of conspiring to bomb a California abortion clinic. She served two years in prison. Despite all of this she was allowed the position of Operation Rescue's senior policy adviser.
This all demonstrates that Operation Rescue is a right-wing extremist group, willing to tolerate violence if it gets them what they want.

Funeral services for Dr. Tiller will be this Saturday at 10 am., at College Hill United Methodist Church. Security for the facility will be high.

Maoist are still out of the new Nepal government

A new government has been formed in Nepal by the more centrist Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Leninist). They have insisted on letting Army Chief Rookmangud Katawal Continue In Office. The Unite Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) is now out of the government.

From:http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAOIST_REVOLUTION:

TGW
Enraged and pretty annoyed by their disrespectful departure from the government structure, the Maoists party has begun reactivating the people's local government and people's court that had been dismantled by the party's high command after the party became a part of the main-stream politics more so when it formed the government.
The Maoists Party Central Secretariat meeting of the Dharan City Committee, Sunsari District, stated on Thursday May 28, 2009, that the move was aimed at confronting the government based in Kathmandu that is formed ignoring what is called the peoples' supremacy.
The Maoists party had constituted the parallel structure at time of the peoples' revolt that was kept in a dormant state after the party became a part of the main-stream politics.
"The Dharan Committee meeting also assured that the party will continue to fight for restoring peoples' supremacy and provide justice to the needed ones."
"It is not a Peoples' Court in the strictest sense of the term but it is yet in its embryonic stage", said Dharan district in-charge Mr. Chotlung.

From Nepalnews.com:

Maoists launch protest against President's move
The Unified CPN (Maoist) Wednesday launched nationwide protest against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav's decision to reinstate the army chief who was sacked by the then Maoist-led government.
Maoist cadres staged dharna (sit-in) and gheraoed the district administration offices (DAOs) across the country for two hours.
In the Kathmandu valley, hundreds of Maoist cadres demonstrated in front of the district administration offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, chanting slogans against the President's 'unconstitutional move' and demanding its immediate withdrawal.

US workplace is absolute dictatorship

There is a major lack of freedom when it comes to the work place. Most employers see themselves as absolute totalitarian god-heads. The worker has no rights in the US and the work place is a complete dictatorship.
To some extent, it started with drug testing. Employers can now play god and police their employees as to what they do off of the work place. Target Stores have an application process that asks a potential worker if they believe it matters if an employee uses drugs on their own time. Obviously they want the prospective employee to answer that the company has a right to insist that their employees be drug free off work as well as on the clock. The employee must agree to be the equivalent of an indentured servant.
Many places run a background credit check. Obviously a person with credit problems needs a job. What business is it of an employer as to how their workers handle their personal finances?
Then there is the lack of free speech. Many employers check on the internet to see if an employee has any inflammatory opinions posted anywhere. So what business is it of an employer as to what opinions their workers have? What is the point of having a first amendment if a person can be fired for what they say in public?
The fact is that there are few rights to the US worker. It is illegal to discriminate of sexually harass and yet there are NO other protections at all. In Kansas a person can be fired for any reason or no reason at all. That gives an employer all the power and leaves the employee just an indentured servant.
And yet we keep hearing how vets protect all this freedom we enjoy. What freedom?

Scott Roeder arrested for shooting Tiller – the new face of the “pro-life” movement

Scott P. Roeder, 51, of Merriam, KS, has been arrested for the shooting of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.

According to McClatchy:

“Those who know Roeder said he believed that killing abortion doctors was an act of justifiable homicide.
"I know that he believed in justifiable homicide," said Regina Dinwiddie, a Kansas City anti-abortion activist who made headlines in 1995 when she was ordered by a federal judge to stop using a bullhorn within 500 feet of any abortion clinic. "I know he very strongly believed that abortion was murder and that you ought to defend the little ones, both born and unborn."
Dinwiddie said she met Roeder while picketing outside the Kansas City Planned Parenthood clinic in 1996. Roeder walked into the clinic and asked to see the doctor, Robert Crist, she said.
"Robert Crist came out and he stared at him for approximately 45 seconds," she said. "Then he (Roeder) said, 'I've seen you now.' Then he turned his back and walked away, and they were scared to death. On the way out, he gave me a great big hug and he said, 'I've seen you in the newspaper. I just love what you're doing.'^"

These kinds of people have been more than welcomed in the “pro-life” movement.

From KansasCity.com:

Tiller is fourth doctor killed in abortion-related violence
With his death Sunday, George Tiller became the eighth person and the fourth doctor killed in abortion-related attacks.”
The article goes on to name the other three doctors killed, Barnett Slepian, John Britton, David Gunn. It also mentions staff and security guards who died from clinic attacks.”

Violence has been a natural part of the “pro-life” movement. Just earlier this month there were major acts of vandalism and renewed threats against Tiller’s Wichita clinic. Possible due to a sense that the “pro-life” movement has lost ground politically, activists seem to be more willing to resort to vandalism and violence to further their agenda.
Operation Rescue leader Randall Terry issued a statement that seemed completely devoid of any remorse over Tiller’s murder.

According to The Huffington Post:

"George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God. I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder.
Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches."

Such conservative reactions seem common place all along the conservative blogs and opinion pieces of the internet. Consider a blog called La Shawn Barber’s Corner:

“A pro-death Twitterer called me twisted for reminding people that Tiller killed infants, since his killer is still on the loose. Huh? You’ve got to dig that irony thing.”

At a vigil held in Tiller’s honor, in Wichita, Sunday night, there were a handful of followers of the Rev. Fred Phelps. They blatantly praised the killing of Tiller and mocked those who came to morn his death.
The reality is that Roeder is now the face of the majority of “pro-life” activists. These are people who believe they are above the law and have no respect for the rights of those who get in the way of their agenda.
