ALEC and the corporate take over of Kansas lawmakers

According to an organization called Kansans Count, About 1/4 of our Kansas legislators have ties to a lobby group called ALEC, that is American Legislative Exchange Council.
ALEC claims to want “Limited Government · Free Markets · Federalism”. But opponents argue that the real attempt is to give almost all government control to corporate interests and virtually nothing to the common working citizen.
As Alec Exposed explains it;
“Through the corporate-funded American Legislative Exchange Council, global corporations and state politicians vote behind closed doors to try to rewrite state laws that govern your rights. These so-called "model bills" reach into almost every area of American life and often directly benefit huge corporations. Through ALEC, corporations have "a VOICE and a VOTE" on specific changes to the law that are then proposed in your state.”

Kansans Count has also stated what the goals of this group are;
“Suppress the vote(new voter ID cards needed).
Alienate communities of color(legalizing racial profiling against immigrants).
Destroy organized labor (especially in the public sector).
Decimate public programs (and privatize what’s left).
Enact corporate welfare (shift the tax burden to those who can least afford it)”.
This group’s members have said they believe that ALEC is focusing on state governments rather than national laws. With the push for state rights, it will be easier for them to defend the changes they make and prevent the federal government from overturning laws that may be un-constitutional.
The point of this story is that corporate lobby groups such as ALEC are trying to take complete control of the government for their own greedy and racist agenda. They want the rest of us to foot the bills.

Marxist logos—I only need a three head logo instead of five heads

It was sometime ago that MikeEly of the KasamaProject discussed three heads vs., five heads or even just one. In otherwords, many Maoist sites have a logo with Karl Marx, VI Lenin and Mao Zedong’sface. The one below is an example;

It’s afairly simple logo that allows the reader to know that the site is bothMarxist-Leninist and Maoist.

I wasexposed to Maoism long ago, after he was dead. I read his books and realized anew way of looking at politics and philosophy. Of the various sects out therewith their ideologies, symbols and “heads” I found Maoism to be the most democraticminded.

Still thereare the longer versions of Maoists banners and flags that include Friedrich Engels and Joseph Stalin.

Engels deserves to be on a banner, becausemost of what Marx wrote, Engels wrote with him. Stalin on the other hand is nota hero to all Maoists. He did have the right idea on “Socialism in one country”instead of Leon Trotsky’s continuing revolution. Stalin was an early ally ofMao and influenced much of Mao’s early writings. As time went on he changedthose ideas and came up with many of his own. His wife, Jiang Qing didn’t likeStalin at all.

While someof us are willing to admit that Stalin was a paranoid and murderous tyrant, despitehis important role in Marxist development, other Maoist still see him as a herowho is a victim of Bourgeoisie propaganda.

Whileresearching this piece, I discovered that other people had great heads. I foundan example of a Marxist-Leninist flag. I guess those who flew it figured thetwo of them were enough.

Then thereis the Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist logo. I guess those people just don’t carefor Mao and his contributions.

I found aLeon Trotsky logo with Marx-Lenin-Trotsky. I’ve seen those before. I guess alot of people want at least three or four big heads on their banners. It letsus know who they favor.

Perhaps themost interesting was the Spartacus league in Germany which has a poster with theheads of Lenin, Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Not only were these lesserknown Marxist theoreticians, they included an ancient rebel in their name. Thatis one thing other Marxists don’t do enough.

The only exceptions I know of are the groupscalling them selves Túpac Amaru.

There are many Marxist writers who don’t getto be the big heads, mostly because they focus on geographic locations, or theyare more specific in what they write about, while the other Marxist “heads” aremore universally applied. There is Kwami Nkruma, Herbert Marcuse, Jean-Paul Sartre, Kim Il Sung and now his sonKim Jong Il, Antonio Gramsci; and José CarlosMariátegui just to name a few.

Mao Stalin and Trotsky are like the William Shakespearesof Marxist Theory. To the play writing student, classes always start withShakespeare and from there on, a person can put on Eugène Ionesco or a Sartreplay. It’s like that in Marxist Politics. Marx is the beginning. Even a lot ofSocialist Democrats read him. Then there is Marxist-Leninism or communistrevolution. Then a person can pick one of the other big heads, which willdefine their beliefs further. A lot has to do with vision and strategy. Theother writers offer us some insight into the over all struggle and many havemade huge contributions to Marxism. And let’s not forget the ancients whocontributed in some way to our present beliefs, Democritus, Epicurus, Spartacus,Thomas Müntzer, and many more.

Now here isthe big question. Marx is from the 19^th century, Lenin crossed the19^th century to the 20^th century, Stalin and Mao wereproducts of the 20^th century, so who will be a 21^stcentury head to add to our collection? Some members of the RIM are alreadysuggesting we add Abimael Guzmán or, as he isknown, Chairman Gonzalo. Most Big heads are dead people, and Gonzalo is not.Some of his supporters, inside and outside of Peru already include him in the bigheads;

There areMaoists who dislike him as much as some Maoists dislike Stalin. But it seems tooearly to try and add the next 21^st Century “big head.” It’s early inthe century and a lot can happen between 2012 and 2099. We will just have towait and see. For now, The Kasama Project has rejected all heads. I like thesimple round red symbol with Marx-Lenin-Mao. People realize I’m a Maoist. Wichita City wants new hotel—their last one is going broke

Wichita doesn’t have any public transportation after 6pm. They lack a lot of services. But not when it comes to investing public money in downtown hotels.
According to The Wichita Eagle, the city will spend $30 million on a hotel on the southeast corner of Douglas and Broadway. Some citizens have launched the Wichita Petition drive to try to stop this money from being spent.
According to Voice for Liberty in Wichita;

It’s been a lot of work. Wichita city leaders ought to take notice that citizens are so opposed to their actions that they will venture out in winter to gather signatures in opposition.”

But the Wichita City Council seems to take care of those who pay for their campaigns, the local developers. Most likely they will just ignore the petition.
The city has allowed a growth program that encouraged people to move out to the edge of town and now mega marts and huge shopping centers are located at such places as 21st and Maize.
Now they wonder why they can’t revitalize downtown. They city has already launched a 10-year $2.4 billion capital improvements plan on the city-owned Hyatt Wichita, amidst a mountain of spiralling debt, according to The Wichita Eagle.
So far the Hyatt was supposed to be a part of a water-walk development that now looks like a huge white elephant. There are a few businesses along the river, such as a sporting good store, but not enough to draw people to a high profile hotel in that area.
The city also has a 10-year capital improvements plan, such as a new Mid-Continent Airport terminal, a new downtown library and the east Kellogg extension. The City Council is depending on a combination of sales tax-backed general obligation bonds and state and federal funding.
Once again we see the incompetence of city leaders who have grand ideas, listen to developers, and ignore the average people and their needs.

Fight against the attempt to outlaw Communism and Communists in Italy (part 3)

We can use each step inthis direction, every single attack, arbitrariness and lawlessness. We must useit to weaken the already precarious direction of the ruling class on thepopular masses, foster contradictions within itself, raise the classconsciousness, mobilizing and strengthening the popular organization (it isalso the most effective way to repel every single attack, abuse and illegality).

In these years, in order toface the legal repression and turn it in favor of the new birth of thecommunist movement, our three organizations have followed this line:

1. to develop initiatives of mobilization andsolidarity of the popular masses: information, complaint, call for solidarity,initiatives of political solidarity and economic support, with the aim ofexpanding ties with the masses, to develop a united front against therepression; initiatives of resistance and opposition to the repression andsolidarity with all organizations, activists, workers and other members of thepeople hit by the forces of repression, regardless of the charges broughtagainst them by the Authorities (judging by class and political and not bylegalistic criteria );

2. promoting specificactions between genuine democrats (intellectuals, politicians and trade unions)to induce the largest possible number of them to speak out against thepersecution of Communists and in general against repression and to expresstheir solidarity;

3. not collaborating in theperformance of the neutral justice, “the same for everyone,” but to transformthe judiciary proceedings in a trial against the Authorities who violate theirown laws and go against the interests of the masses.

The results obtained so farhave confirmed that it is a correct line.

The process that opens on 8^thFebruary will be an opportunity

1. to propagandize thepopular emergency government and socialism and mobilize workers and the rest ofthe masses;

2. to assert the importanceof organizations and individuals’ resistance to the repression of thebourgeoisie and its apparatus. This resistance is the basis for developing thefight against repression and promote solidarity with the organizations andcomrades that repression hit: the resistance to repression firstly is establishedcontinuing the struggle, developing class solidarity, improving our understandingand our mobilization: the struggle pays! The fact that the activity of the (n)PCI and of the caravan has continued and developed in spite of the blows ofrepression has been the main cause of the failure of the attack of the PapalRepublic Authorities and of the strengthening of the revolutionary forces;

3. to unmask the bourgeoislegality (the legality of the rule of imperialist bourgeoisie’s ringleaders andtheir circle on the rest of the population) claiming that the basis of a lawworthy of the name is the right of each person to work and live in dignity and topromote the only true law at this stage: to rebel against every sacrifice, enforcementand abuse;

4. to denounce the class characterof bourgeois institutions and justice: powerless, tolerant or party with therich and powerful and coward and bully with the popular masses and the weak;

5. to exploit everyopportunity and every grip provided by laws in force, through the mobilizationof lawyers and of all sincere democrats and progressives in order to denouncethe violations of rights sanctioned by the Constitution and to prevent thecondemnation;

6. to develop politicalsolidarity and economic support of the masses, intellectuals, true democrats,politicians and administrators of public with organizations and comrades underattack;

7. to develop the fighting frontagainst repression and bourgeois legalism with political, trade union andpopular organizations and with individual comrades;

8. to denounce how thebourgeoisie and its institutions squander public money (taken from choking moreand more workers and pensioners) to persecute political opponents: they do nothave money for kindergartens, schools, health, transport but they find itimmediately for subsidizing political police, judges and special anti-terroristcourts.

We call upon all communistanti-imperialist and progressive organizations,, genuine democrats, struggling organizationsand movements, lawyers, journalists, politicians and trade unionists

- To reject the ongoing campaignof Communism criminalization and Communists’ persecution,

- To contribute (politicallyand economically) in the battle for the full acquittal of comrade tried!

We call democrats andintellectuals, journalists because they do not lend themselves topolitical-police plots and to the censorship imposed by the Authorities on the trialand on Communists’ persecution, and because they give voice to the defendants,lawyers, judges who have already issued nonsuit or dismissal judgments. Theindependent information is used to defend freedoms and values of the antifascistConstitution practicing them.

We call judges, prosecutorsand democratic officers in the Court of Bologna and in other Courts to not becomea party in the persecution, but to play their part to make it fail with public stands,interviews, etc... Its failure is in the interests of those who care about thevalues of the antifascist Constitution .

We call the mayors andother administrators of the new municipal government of Naples, Milan, Cagliariand others (which have established themselves at odds with the old governmentlinked to the top managers of the Papal Republic and subordinate to theirgovernments) to take a stand against this judicial persecution (with public stands,interviews, provision of public halls, etc..) as a concrete and consistentdemonstration of the defense of the rights of civilization ratified by theConstitution and of workers and popular masses’ interests.

The victory of this battle will strengthen the rightsof civilization conquered with the Resistance!

It will strengthen the people’s struggle against thegovernment of the speculators, of the imperialist bourgeoisie and of the Vatican. Itwill strengthen the struggle to build a popular emergency government and itwill make us advance in the struggle to make Italy a new socialist country!

No to the outlawing of the (n)PCI and of theorganizations of the caravan!

Fight against the attempt to outlaw Communism and Communists in Italy (part 2)

The mobilization against the trial for “Cop Hunt” is an integral part ofthe fight against the abuses of law enforcement officials and of the campaignsfor making Carabinieri, policemen and customs officers on service to carry adifferent serial number that distinguishes and identifies each one of them.

What happens in Italyis part of army manoeuvres to outlaw Communism and Communists. In the EU, afterthe approval of the Directive Lindblad in 2006 that equates Communism toNazism, communist parties in various countries have been outlawed (Romania,Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) or are near to be outlawed (Czech Republic andMoldova). In Poland and Hungarycommunist symbols have been banned and, finally, in December 2010 it waspresented the proposal to prosecute the defense of communism.

In this context, in what sense and why has the persecution of the caravan of(n)PCI a special place?

For about 30 years the Authorities seek to prevent and certainly hinder itswork systematically.

The first judiciary proceeding dates back to 1981, it was followed by sevenmore with the same charge (subversive association with terrorist intent, 270bis item) and often against the same persons. Proceedings were alwaysaccompanied by raids, arrests, seizure of material, stalking, intimidationagainst supporters and contributors, defamatory press campaigns. These proceedingsended so far with nonsuit judgments.

The only logical explanation of such painstaking “attention” is that an authoritativepart of the bourgeoisie thinks that the caravan of (n)PCI is a threat to itspower. That is to say, analysis, strategy and the plan it proposed are thoserequired to make advance working class and masses’ struggle to “finish the workthat first Italian Communist Party interrupted: to make Italy a socialistcountry, and so contribute to the world proletarian revolution “(Founding Declarationof (n)PCI - October 2004).

For several decades (n)PCI’s caravan has been the main driver of the new birthof the conscious and organized communist movement in our country. It has notmerely proclaimed that we need to rebuild the Communist Party, that we need aperspective, an alternative to capitalism, a project, that we must take stockof the 70s and of the past experience of the communist movement. It did it. Itrebuilt the Communist Party. It took stock of the successes achieved by theItalian and international communist movement in the last century, and pointedout the errors and limitations that prevented it from establishing socialism inany of the imperialist countries in the last century. Those errors andlimitations led to the prevalence in it of the modern revisionists, to the reversalof the trend, the regression and degeneration, the weakening until thedissolution of most of the communist parties, the collapse of most of firstsocialist countries and the others, anyway, to abandon the role of the red baseof the world proletarian revolution and change side. On this basis, (n) PCI, inits Manifesto Program,

- has exposed the communist world conception; in order to not tail events, tonot undergo them, to not be surprised and thrown off by them, the Communistshave to own and use the science of revolution (the communist world conception):“to get rid of the mentality instilled by the bourgeoisie and the clergy, toassimilate the communist world conception is an essential aspect of becoming Communists.The Communists are distinguished from others who are intolerant of the presentcourse of things as Communists themselves are and that to some extent evenfight against it as Communists themselves do, because they have a more advancedunderstanding of the conditions, forms and results of the ongoing struggleagainst the imperialist bourgeoisie to establish socialism“;

- it indicated the prospect, the alternative to the chaos of the crisis: toestablish socialism. “It is not a task of little account, but it is possible.It is the only way to overcome the current agonizing and dangerous state inwhich the bourgeoisie has brought us. In order to be completely fulfilled, thistask will require the whole of humanity to transform, to reach a level ofcivilization higher than the present. It will lead men and women to practice enmasse those spiritual (intellectual and creative) activities and develop thosemoral characteristics (initiative, accountability, participation in sociallife) from which the ruling classes have always excluded the mass of thepopulation (...) and so they do still today with thousand tricks and thousand meansof corruption, escapism and coercion.“;

- it outlined the strategy for achieving this goal: the Protracted RevolutionaryPeople’s War (PRPW) whose central aspect is the creation of the new people’spower, formed by the organized forces of the working class and of the otherclasses of the popular masses gathered around the communist party. It is apower that opposes imperialist bourgeoisie’s power and grows up to overtake andeliminate it. PRPW means then to build the communist party, to gather therevolutionary forces of society around the communist party, to raise theirideological, political and organizational level, to mobilize them according toa plan, to develop a series of initiatives that weaken imperialist bourgeoisie’spower and strengthen the new people’s power, to eliminate the state of theimperialist bourgeoisie and establish the dictatorship of the proletariat;

- it has developed a General Plan of Work (GPW) for the first phase of PRPWindicating four fronts of struggle in which to develop the organization andmobilization of the masses to build up the revolutionary forces.

First front: resistance to repression, fight against repression and thedevelopment of solidarity.

Second Front: mobilization of the masses to intervene in bourgeois politicalstruggle.

Third Front: mobilization of the masses in union claims to defend withoutreservations and to extend the conquests wrested from the bourgeoisie.

Fourth Front: mobilization of the masses to build the economic, social andcultural means and organizations autonomous from the bourgeoisie (“people’shomes”, social centers, cooperatives, cultural clubs, mutual aid funds, sportsand recreation associations, etc..) and directly useful to meet their needs.

ASP, P-CARC and SLL are organizations that seek to operate according to theline indicated by (n)PCI respectively in first, second and third of the fourfronts of the GPW.

The general crisis worsened in autumn 2008, that is to say it entered itsacute and terminal phase. The communist movement (and the communist party) had notyet achieved an adequate degree of consolidation and strengthening and the newsituation has somewhat changed the conditions under which it takes place thefirst phase of the revolutionary people’s war. So, the (n)PCI launched the lineof People’s Bloc Government (PBG): an emergency government formed by popular andworkers organizations and composed of persons who already have their confidenceand decided to transpose into law the measures that popular and workersorganizations adopt in any particular occasion for facing the crisis, even ifthey go against the interests of bosses, bankers and the Vatican and thedictates of the international community. He also indicated the conditions thatmust be created to establish the GBP: 1. To propagandize the need for an emergencypeople’s government, to convince workers and popular organizations that onlyconstituting an emergency government each one of them can achieve his goal, 2. tomultiply the number of workers and popular organizations, encouraging theirbirth in every company, in every town, in every field, 3. to drive workers andpopular organizations to coordinate themselves on local, provincial, regional andnational level, to form networks on a territorial basis and on the base of purposeand scope of operations, 4. to make the country ungovernable by the bosses andtheir Authorities with initiatives carried out by the popular masses.

In recent years the Italian authorities have opened one judiciary proceedingafter another against the (n)PCI’s caravan. They have tried to do scorchedearth around it, they pursued public organizations that are inspired by its conceptionand line, they involved the French authorities and those of other countries, theyarrested its leaders and members.

They failed: the activity of (n)PCI has continued because Communists haveresisted all forms of repression and organized themselves in order to continuetheir work: the most recent and important steps were the foundation of the(new) Italian Communist Party (October 2004), the publication of its Manifesto Program (Spring 2008), thecelebration of its First Congress (early 2010).

Thanks to the continuity of its work, that is to say to its resistance torepression, the (n) PCI is able to use in its favor the same judiciary proceedings:1. to promote proletarian solidarity; 2. to expose and mobilize againstviolations of the laws that, to some extent, protect the interests of thepeople against the arbitrariness of the bosses, the clergy and their Authoritiesand to defend the Constitution in what it states in defense and promotion ofthe rights and interests of the popular masses, statements coming from the balance of power dictated by thevictory of the communist movement against Nazism, 3. to enlarge thecontradictions that these violations also create within the ruling classitself.

Now the Authorities aim to outlaw the (n)PCI and the organizations thatrecognize and cooperate with its plan to make Italy a socialist country, to makeits judges declare them “terrorist organizations” and then automatically applythe procedures set by national and international “anti-terrorism” (detention ofsuspects without judicial proceedings, deprivation of liberty and civil rightsby the decision of police several abuses and harassments).

This is the center around which they are rotating many other proceedingsagainst members, associates and supporters of CARC Party, ASP and SLL. They areabout 42, against 180 people (in many cases the same people are involved inmultiple proceedings at once) and with charges ranging from seditious meeting toresisting a public officer, the “extortion of better job contracts” to “privateviolence “(as the courts call the pickets to prevent the closure and decommissioningof a hospital!). They are proceedings opened where CARC Party, ASP and SLL havebecome centers of organization and mobilization of the popular masses of peopleto nip in the bud the trials of fascism (Tuscany),to defend and build useful and decent jobs for all and to break into thetheater of bourgeois politics (Naples).

This series of proceedings might suggest that the bourgeoisie and its Authoritiesare strong. It is actually a force only apparent. Their situation isprecarious.

The methods they have so far used to contain the communist movement andensure a degree of collaboration or at least of indifference of a significantpart of the masses are collapsing. Under the pressure of the crisis, the economicconcessions the popular masses tore from the bourgeoisie have disappeared; the participationin elections in the wake of the bourgeois parties and the mass organizations ofthe regime are upset by the measures pro-governance (threshold barrier,anti-union measures, etc..), by the lawlessness of the Authorities and thedevelopment of reactionary mobilization, diversion and poisoning are suspended,the selectivity of repression concentrated against the Communists is shaken bythe spread of militarization (in the areas where people defends the environment,in the “red areas” systematically erected to defend the palaces of power, theban on marches), the limitations of the freedoms and rights ofpersons (confinement, obligations, prohibitions imposed to football supporters),illegal detention of immigrants, special prison treatment (41 a item).

The Authority of the ruling class always operate more openly and frequentlyin violation of the spirit and often of the letter of the laws and of theConstitution in force (war missions, denial of political asylum and of the mostbasic civil rights to immigrants, freedom of political action for old and newfascists, creation of “strategic and military zones”, restrictions and bans ondemonstrations, attempts to gag the non aligned press, limitation to the right tostrike, increasing barriers to free organization of trade unions, refusal toimplement the outcome of the referendum of last June against the privatizationof the water, constitution of bourgeois governments without elections, expansionof activities covered by state secrecy, etc..). But they have not radicallychanged the laws and the Constitution. They are creating the conditions fordoing it, everything pushes them in that direction, but they have not yet doneit .

Chicago City Council Passes Rahm Emanuel’s Anti-Protest Ordinances

Two ordinances drawn up for controlling protests and maintaining security in the city of Chicago during upcoming NATO/G8 meetings passed through the Chicago City Council today.
The ordinances, which organizers from Occupy Chicago and the Coalition Against the NATO/G8 (CANG8) call “sit down and shut up” ordinances, were proposed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and were met with some opposition that led to revisions. But today they passed with only a handful of aldermen voting against the ordinances.
A joint statement released by Occupy Chicago and CANG8 reads:
At 12:30 today, Rahm Emanuel officiated over the death of the Bill of Rights in the City Council chambers.

With the resistance torepression, proletarian solidarity and fight against repression, let’stransform this operation of bourgeoisie’s mercenaries for defending its orderof misery, destruction and war into an instrument for the new birth of thecommunist movement!

On 8^th February 2012 at the Assize Court of Bologna it opens thetrial against 12 comrades who are (or were) part of the (new) Italian CommunistParty ((n)PCI), the Party of CARC (P-CARC) and the Proletarian SolidarityAssociation (ASP).

It is a process overtly political in the sensethat the state sets aside specific crimes charged to the individual, but accusesthem to belong to the (n)PCI and to the organizations that support it andcooperate with its plan to make Italya new socialist country, the organizations we call the “caravan” of the (n)PCI. It aims to condemn and declare the (n)PCI a criminal organization andtherefore to declare that belonging to it is a crime. The goal is to outlaw the(n)PCI and all the organizations of its caravan as subversive organizationsaccording to 270 bis item of the Penal Code. A conviction would lead to theindictment of any other member and collaborator of the (n)PCI.

The fact that there are nohandholds of “facts and specific crimes” had been certified and motivated withthe nonsuit judgment because “there were no facts” issued on 1^st July2008 by the Judge for Preliminary Hearings Rita Zaccariello of the Court ofBologna. That judgment temporarily stopped the crusade against the (n)PCI’scaravan that Public Prosecutor Paolo Giovagnoli was carrying out by more than 8years, on behalf of Authorities of the Papal Republic.

On 20^th January2011, the Supreme Court, upholding the action of the Public ProsecutorGiovagnoli and of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bologna, overturned Zaccariello’sjudgment of 2008. The General Attorney Giovanni Salvi advocated thecancellation of the nonsuit judgment and the go-ahead for restarting theproceedings. He was the one who with two other magistrates opened two investigationsagainst the (n)PCI’s caravan with the charge of subversive association. Theywere launched on 17^th October 1999 with a “big” police operation anda hundred raids in several cities of Italy and both dismissed one in 2001 andanother in 2003 ... that is to say just when Giovagnoli opened the eighth judiciaryproceeding!

On 21^stSeptember 2011, with a sentence already decided, the Judge for PreliminaryHearing Alberto Gamberini ordered the beginning of the trial.

In Bologna, the ruling class is establishing anew kind of special court that operates on the basis of emergency legislation(although officially this legislation does not yet exist!). It is aimed toprosecute crimes that are not recognized as such by law and to prosecutedefendants who would not be such if bourgeois Authorities were not fully violatingthe Constitution. The court of Bologna is a “prototype”: the bourgeoisie hasconcentrated here a special pool of magistrates to prosecute “political crimes”,magistrates who are real auxiliary of the political police, who get on forservices rendered to the most reactionary and criminal part of the rulingclass.

The significance andeffects of the trial beginning on 8^th February go far beyond theindividuals and organizations directly under attack. They are at stake thefreedom of expression, organization and propaganda of Communists. Starting fromhere, it will be at stake the freedom of expression, organization andpropaganda of anyone who is or may become center of organization andmobilization of the masses for “not paying for the crisis of the bosses”. Thisis the freedom of expression, organization and propaganda won by the victory ofthe Resistance against Nazi fascism and ratified (at least formally) by theConstitution and still (at least formally) in force. It is not a matter betweenus and the judges called upon to prosecute us, the police (regular andirregular) that haunt us for years and their political instigators. It is anaspect of the battle going on between the imperialist bourgeoisie and the popularmasses on how to go out from the crisis of capitalism.

The bourgeoisie, the clergyand other rich do not have a positive solution for the masses to economic,environmental, cultural and moral decay that their system, the capitalism, hascreated. The source of the crisis is in capitalism itself. The ongoing crisisis a natural product of their system: it comes from the nature of the capitalistmode of production. Monti in Italy(and before him Berlusconi and Prodi) and its counterparts in otherimperialists countries are trying to squeeze the popular masses even more,especially workers, pensioners, civil servants, self-employed workers (farmers,breeders, transporters , artisans, etc..). They eliminate the rights the popularmasses conquered during the first wave of proletarian revolution. They take awaythe prospect of a future of young people, aggravate the discrimination andoppression of women, persecute immigrants. They are responsible for thedestruction, marginalization and emigration of the population in the oppressedcountries, in the emerging ones and in the former socialist countries, for theplundering of the planet’s resources, for pollution and environmentaldestruction, for the “humanitarian missions” that they multiply in the world.This is the way by which the international community of the capitalists,bankers, financiers, speculators and the rich tries to prolong the life of hissystem of social relations in spite of the general crisis of capitalism thatnow goes for more than thirty ‘years and since 2008 has entered its acute and terminalphase.

People like Monti, like theFIAT CEO Marchionne, their cronies and accomplices, however, can prolong and soaggravate their criminal work only if they manage to sow among the workers,other laborers and the rest of the people the conviction that there is nothingto do, that their measures of “tears and blood” are the only way to end thecrisis. They can succeed only if they can disrupt and divide laborers.

To this end, on the onehand they bring up, subsidize and cover the “fascists of the Third Millennium”as Casseri, who killed two migrants from Senegalin Florence inlatest December. On the other they try to “clean up” the factories of theunions representing the laborers, to isolate the most rebellious and combativelaborers and workers. But above all they need to prevent the communist movementfrom reaching a critical mass, to prevent its “contagion” from spreading.

In fact, the measuresagainst the crisis and the representatives of the international community ofspeculators, are creating a widespread resistance not only by the peoplesoppressed by the world imperialist system, but also by the popular masses inthe imperialist countries: the riots in the Arab countries, the movement Occupytogether in the U.S., the indignados in Spain, the revolts in London, therebellion of the Greek popular masses, the movement which today developed fromFIAT factory of Pomigliano in our country.

It is a movement stilllargely spontaneous. It is stoked up mainly by the opposition to the growingoppression and exploitation that the bourgeoisie and the clergy exert on themasses, by the contrast between the hardships and privations of a growingproportion of the population and the luxury and splendor of a handful of rich,speculators, parasites, by the aspiration to “another world” that the means,the knowledge and ability existing in the world today make possible. It is notyet fertilized and animated by the communist conception of the world and madeirresistible by the leadership of the communist movement.

The specific role of theCommunists in it is to make the aspiration and the need for a new higher socialorder, nourished and fostered within the popular masses by the present state ofthings, a political objective pursued by a mobilization of the organized popularmasses so wide to have the strength to wipe out the current rotten andmurderess social order, with its institutions, its ideas and the feelingsconnected to it. The Communists are distinguished from other opponents to this badpresent because they do not drive to go back to the past (that produced thisbad present!). They instead drive to build the new world: the socialist societyon the march towards Communism, the only way out of the crisis of capitalismbecause it puts an end to capitalism itself.

The communist movement thatis being born is the embryo, the standard bearer of the future of dignity,civilization and progress that the masses can build.

That is why bourgeoisie’sspokesmen, intellectuals, hacks write reams and lavish words to denigrate Communismand Communists, the first socialist countries and the first wave of proletarianrevolution: they proclaimed the end of Communism in all possible ways.

That is why bourgeois law-enforcementagencies selectively repressed Communists and tried to do scorched earth aroundthem.

That is why television andparliamentary lounges exhibited in full trim people like Bertinotti, formerleader of the Party of Communist Refoundation, willing to blather about “errorsand horrors of Communism.”

Now it is no longer enough.The situation is such that it is back on the agenda who runs society and how hedoes it:

- Or workers organized witha system of relations based on public ownership and management of productive machineryand on a decent and useful work for every adult; a system of which the firstsocialist countries have been the dawn;

- Or the bosses with theelimination of the rights and conquests, the reactionary mobilization and “warbetween us and the rest of the world” that FIAT CEO Marchionne already openly declaresand imposes on the workers.

It follows from this alsothe elimination of residual progressive aspects of bourgeois democracy. Thisincludes also the impunity of those “agents ready to do anything” which in ourcountry entered into action on a large scale at the G8 Summit with the killingof Carlo Giuliani and the wild beatings in police and Carabinieri barracks in Genoain 2001 and few months before in Naples. This includes the operations ofvarious kinds to thwart every initiative of “democratic supervision” todiscourage those who collect and transmit in Internet (copwatching) photos andmovies of agents responsible for abuses against demonstrators and others. Oneof these operations is the process that will take place in Bologna on 31^stJanuary and 21^st February, 2012 against two members of CARC Party andof the Struggling Workers Union and another comrade for “violation of privacy” underaccusation of having created the site “Cop Hunt”[http://cacciaallosbirro.awardspace.info/] in which there are shown the faces oflaw enforcement agents who spy, control, put down in police records, threaten,blackmail, orchestrate provocation, infiltrate, beat, massacre. Morena Plazzi,the same Public Prosecutor that conducts this investigation, has recently openeda case against “the policeman without a face” who on 12^th October2011 clubbed a young girl student (causing the loss of four teeth and permanentinjury to chew) who was demonstrating along with other “indignados” outside theoffices of the Bank of Italy in Bologna.

Seminar on Philippine Society and Revolution

In 1969 Prof. Jose Maria Sison published, under his then nom de guerre AmadoGuerrero, Philippine Society and Revolution that has effectively served as amanifesto for the Filipino revolution since. Prof. Jose M. Sison, through anexamination of Filipino history and the mode of production, argued thatPhilippine society could be characterized, using Mao Zedong's formulation, as a`semi-feudal semi-colonial' society. Furthermore, he delineated the strategyand tactics through which the Filipino people could overthrow the predeterminationthat has been foisted onto their lives by imperialists, rural feudal landlordsand urban capitalists and build a different kind of socio-economic andpolitical order in the Philippines.

We invite you to attend a two-day seminar on Philippine Society and Revolutionon the 4th and 5th of Februari 2012 at Amsterdamsestraatweg 50 in Utrecht, theNetherlands from 10am till 5pm. Light refreshments will be served. Gov. Brownback’s new “shell game”—Tax reform

It’s not a good sign for Governor Sam Brownback that his new tax plan has not gotten bad press from The Kansas City Star. It’s a fairly conservative newspaper and it states at the beginning of their article; “The numbers paint a stark picture of the haves and have-nots in Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback’s new tax plan.”
His tax plan is not fooling anyone. It is a gift to the wealthy and a burden to the poor. The Kansas City Star goes on to say;
“More than a half million tax filers — earning less than $25,000 a year — will pay an average of $156 more in income taxes under the governor’s plan to overhaul the state tax code. By contrast, roughly 21,000 taxpayers — making more than $250,000 a year — will see an average cut of $5,200 a year in their tax bills.”
Much of that increase for the poorer tax payers comes from the elimination of deductions.
The plan includes eliminating the deduction for home mortgage interest, the deduction for charitable contributions, food sales tax rebates and the earned income tax credit. That last tax is for the poorest taxpayers. The plan eliminates income taxes for roughly 191,000 small businesses in the state.
Brownback told The Wichita Eagle that his tax was ‘fairer, flatter and simpler’ than the present system. According to him, his taxes would lower the rate for everyone from 6.45 percent to 4.9 percent. He also claims some of the money he gets, from the elimination of deductions will go to social programs.
It’s not much difference than a pea and shell game. Except this tax moves the burden to the poor for the benefit of the wealthy. According to The Kansas City Star; the plan has been criticized by his own Department of Revenue. It also said, “But even the conservative-leaning Kansas Policy Institute was left scratching its head over the new calculations.”
As with all of the tax the poor, help the rich schemes, Brownback claims this will help create jobs. We’ve heard that before and a lot of people know better.

the friends of Indian revolution and well wishers

Comrades and Friends,

On 24 November, 2011 the Indian revolution lost its great leader and the oppressed masses of India lost their most reliable servant. November 24 would remain a dark day in the history of the Indian revolution. On July 1, 2010 the Indian ruling classes had murdered our Politburo member and spokesperson Comrade Azad. Within one and a half years, another Politburo member Comrade Koteswarlu (who is popular among the people and party ranks as Kotanna, Prahlad, Ramji, Kishenji and Bimal) was caught alive in a covert operation, tortured inhumanly and was killed in a fake encounter. In India which claims to be the largest democracy in the world, the feudal and comprador bureaucratic bourgeois ruling classes, with the support of the imperialists, particularly the US imperialists, are trying to suppress the democratic, national liberation and revolutionary movements with iron heel. Particularly, since 2009 they are carrying on an unjust war on the people in the name of `Operation Green Hunt'. They are shamelessly violating even the constitution and the laws formulated by themselves and are killing people, activists and leaders of the movement. They are unsuccessfully trying to justify all their unlawful murders in the name of a lie named `encounter' tracing the footsteps of the British colonial rulers. Now it is an established fact that `encounter' anywhere in India means a conspiratorial murder by the state.

Comrade Koteswarlu was born on November 26, 1954 in Peddapalli town of Karimnagar district which has a legacy of the glorious Telangana armed struggle. He led the Indian revolutionary movement for nearly four decades. Comrade Koteswarlu was brought up by democratic thinking parents and imbibed patriotic feelings and love for the oppressed people since childhood. He was a top rank representative of the generation after the glorious Naxalbari rebellion. Though the Naxalbari rebellion which established Maoist Protracted People's War as the path for the Indian revolution was suppressed within a few years, it had a great impact all over the country. Peasant rebellions arose in many areas following its model. It awoke the students in colleges and universities. The slogan `Naxalbari Ek Hi Rasta' (The Only Way is Naxalbari) reverberated all over the country. It was this backdrop that turned Comrade Koteswarlu into a Maoist revolutionary. Firstly, at the end of 1970s, he organized the peasantry against deeply entrenched feudalism in his home district of Karimnagar and led many struggles. He played a key role in the peasant movement popularly known as `Jagityal Jaitrayatra' (Victory March of Jagityal). In no time this spread to the whole of North Telangana apart from Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. Even while mobilizing peasants into anti-feudal struggles, he greatly strove to attract students, writers, intellectuals, workers…all oppressed classes and sections of people into the fold of revolutionary movement. In this course, he worked as a party organizer at first, then as the district committee secretary and was later elected as the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Sate Committee and won the accolade of the people and the party ranks. Since 1986, he played a crucial role in the development and expansion of the revolutionary movement in central, eastern and northern parts of India. He particularly concentrated on Dandakaranya for eight years and on West Bengal for eighteen years. Since 1993 till he breathed his last he worked as a Central Committee member, later as Politburo member member and held responsibilities for Northern and Eastern Regional Bureaus. He contributed greatly in many spheres in the party such as political education, magazines, propaganda and shone as a man of many talents. He played a prominent role in enriching the party documents and in developing party political-military line and policies. He represented the CC in the meetings and bilateral talks held with various national liberation organizations and Maoist forces in South Asia. He strove a lot to unite the Marxist-Leninist groups and individuals that divided and scattered after the setback of Naxalbari and particularly to achieve unity of the ML and MCC organizations which continued as separate streams since Naxalbari. Thus his role remains etched forever in the annals of the history of Indian revolution.

At the end of 1970s, Comrade Koteswarlu played a crucial role in the Jagityal peasant movement and in the first decade of the 21^st century he became the architect of the illustrious Lalgarh people's upsurge. He was an inspiring leader who never left the people and the cadres and who stood firmly during many an ebb and flow in the Indian revolutionary movement with courage and initiative. He was an organizer with initiative, a warrior commander and a guide who imparted love and care. His very presence proved to be a hard nut to crack for the enemy right from the beginning. He successfully fought back several attacks and attempts to murder him. He was a tireless warrior who fought incessantly and uncompromisingly and never let go of any opportunity to attack the enemy politically and militarily. That is why the ruling clique of this country led by Sonia-Manmohan-Chidambaram-Pranab-Jairam colluded with the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and killed him in the cruelest manner. The brutal signs of torture on his dead body indicate the fascist nature of the enemy, his cowardliness and his defeat. On the other hand he bore all the inhuman tortures in the hands of the enemy and emerged victorious even in the face of death. The crimson of the international red flag of the proletarians turned deeper with the blood spilled by him in Jungle Mahal.

With the murder of Comrade Koteswarlu @ Kishenji the Indian revolutionary movement lost a great leader. This is a huge loss for our party. Our party has been continuously losing main leadership forces since a few years and this loss cannot be surmounted under these circumstances. However our party would fight firmly to advance the Indian revolution on the path of victory by overcoming these losses. The exploitative ruling classes can never comprehend the truth that people and the people's movements give birth to hundreds and thousands of leaders like Koteswarlu and Azad and they continue daydreaming that they could suppress the movements by killing the leaders. As long as there are exploitation and suppression, people would continue to revolt. Leaders like Koteswarlu keep on emerging. That is why the great struggles with sacrifices and the ideals established by the thousands of great martyrs serve as an inspiration.

Our Central Committee pays red homage with bowed heads to the great martyr Comrade Koteswarlu. Our CC is expressing deep empathy to mother Madhuramma who was calling upon the people to follow the footsteps of her son even while immersed in deep sorrow, to other family members and friends of Comrade Koteswarlu. Our Central Committee calls upon entire Party, PLGA, activists of mass organizations and revolutionary masses who are immersed in deep sorrow and agony with the brutal murder of Comrade Koteswarlu to overcome the grief and intensify the People's War. Our CC calls upon the youth to join our Party and PLGA in large numbers and to march forward in the footsteps of Comrade Kotanna to fulfill his cherished dreams. PATNA, India -- Maoist rebels triggered a powerful land mine Saturday which killed 13 policemen in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, a top police official said.
Police superintendent G.K. Rath said at least two other policemen were injured in the explosion that blew up their minibus in Jharkhand state.
The officers were returning from a search operation in a remote, densely forested region when the blast occurred.
The Maoists are currently active in 20 of India's 28 states.

Around the country, people on the web noticed a news blackout to protest against new laws,Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act,meant to protect copy written material, but would allow the government to close down any web site they deemed unfit.
This kind of power would allow them to also shut down any web site they didn’t like. Most people were aware that Google had a blacked out logo for the day. Wikipedia closed down all their English web sites.
Popular Kansas blog sites took action against SOPA and PIPA. The Daily Kos had a sting of articles against SOPA and PIPA. They also had words blacked out at random to mimic censorship. Otto’s War Room had one blacked out post with white letters reading: Don't censor the web!

There was also a poem written entirely in Khmer, with not translation of any kind, to go along with the spirit of Wikipedia.
Organizations and web sites across the country refused to allow people to access their site for the day. All that action seems to have had an affect. The Kansas City Business Journal reported;
“Congressional support for two online piracy bills seems to be fading in the wake of a rare coordinated online protest, The Washington Postreports.
Websites from Wikipedia to Google GoogleLatest from The Business JournalsSOPA protests upend anti-piracy lobbying Tech investors eyeing Intel, IBM, Google, Microsoft earnings Web protest slows anti-piracy legislation Follow this company to Lenexa startup Surefoot Communications warned of the dangers of the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act.”
The SOPA and PIPA laws united people of differing political trends to oppose censorship of any type on the web. That is the way it should be.

The occupy movement has shook the country as has neverhappened since the 1960s. There have been other windows of opportunity, such asthe Great Depression, but I don’t think we should brush this off and justanother rebellion. What ever it is, we need to take full advantage of it andnot worry so much about “What if we don’t get what we want.”

Chances are there has been a slow smouldering descent goingon since the Reagan Revolution of the 1980s. Ironically changes going on todaywhere not thought up by the people who occupy Wall Street, although they mayhave thought them up unconsciously, but it is our own enemy, the US and CIA thatcame up with these tactics. They were first used to bring down EasternEurope. They were also used to bring about the Soviet Revolution, but thatwas at the beginning of the 20^th century while this Occupy ishappening in the 21^st Century.

What works for one totalitarian society will work foranother and the USgovernment and its supporters are only fooling themselves when they say thatthis is an open society in which democracy allows people to express theirdiscontent.

It is probable that many of the early uprisings, such as theone in Tunisia and Egypt were not expected by the US. They did hope to bring down Muammar Qaddafi/مُعَمَّر القَذَّافِي and now Syria, once it started, but they never expectedthat the USwould experience they same type of uprising. They didn’t expect and still don’tknow how to deal with it.

The raw brutality we see shows this. The US has studied terrorism and how tostop it ever since 9/11. But they never realized the same conditions that ledto the uprising in East Europe would workhere. They relied heavily on the use of the internet for sending information incountries that controlled the press and all information about the world. Butdidn’t realize they can’t control what people here see and read as well.

Many people on the left focussed on Central America and its revolutions in the 1980s. It was assumed thatcountries such as Nicaraguawould show people in the USthat they can have a democratic form of socialism. The Sandinistas lost the elections of 1990 (it is possible that the CIA somehowrigged the elections since polls showed the Sandinistas would win by 20 percentand the Reagan administration seemed certain the Sandinistas would lose). Ayear later the Soviet Union collapsed and evengovernments that claimed to be independent of them, such as the Sandinistas,had to form new alliances just to survive. Most of the new African countries,with the exception of Zimbabwe,turned to the European Socialist Parties, which by now were no different thanthe Democrats in the US.

Today we have seen a resurgence of Maoist parties and theirinsurgencies in parts of Asia. There are alsosome in South America. There is nothing wrongwith supporting these new Maoist groups, but we can’t help them surviveeconomically without doing something here to prevent the imperialist US Armyfrom continuing its RiskGame like attacks in the Middle-east. That means not just stopping the war,as was the issue in Vietnamand Central America, it means we must alsoattack imperialism and bring it down.

The Kasamaproject has run several articles on how to approach the Occupy movement andwhether to form a red block. In some countries, such as Italy, they are way ahead of us andalready have formedred blocks, although there is some factionalism between the largest groups.

There is no reason we should not have a red block here.There is already an anarchist black block. We should support the Occupymovement in everyway we can. We should also educate people about capitalism andhow it works and why it is so hard to overthrow. We also need to avoid“capturing ourselves,” in other words trying to take the movement over untilthose who originally started it pull out because of a sense they lost their ownorganization. We also don’t want to make the mistake of the Communist Party ofFrance when they refused to support the student uprising, in 1968, because THEYcould not control it.

We have to remember we have a common enemy and we need to beunited around the overthrow and destruction of that common enemy-capitalism andimperialism. This is no time to complain about who has the “correct line.” Thecorrect line is the one that wins. -សតិវអតុ

In reaction to the new photo ID voter law, the group KANVOTE went to the DMV (driver’s license office) in west Wichita, last Tuesday, to question the new law. The new law requires all voters to show a state or Federally issued picture ID, such as a drivers license, passport, or a state ID which is obtainable at one of the two Driver’s license offices, here in Wichita.
KAKE TV News covered the protest and they estimated that about 40 people showed up. Members of the group insisted the law is unconstitutional.
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach pushed for the new law insisting that illegal aliens were voting and that Kansas was saddled with voter fraud. Most researchers have found very little voter fraud. More likely this is an attempt by Republicans to assure that poor and less educated voters will find the new rules to cumbersome and confusing for them to bother to vote. A person trying to get a state issued ID from the DMV is likely to have to wait as many as three hours to get it. Birth certificates and other forms of ID are required to get the Kansas picture ID, much the same as getting a driver’s license for the first time. While most people have a driver’s license, some people don’t or don’t even drive.

The march began at the Peace and Social Justice Center.
According to a statement by Charles J. Schoch, an opponent of the new law;
"In 2011, the Kansas legislature passed legislation making it harder to vote in the state, disenfranchise thousands of voters, and make it nearly impossible for grassroots Kansas organizations to run voter registration drives.
But worse yet is that the law went into effect January 1, but as of January 3, local DMVs had received no resources or training to supply the thousands of temporary IDs necessary to ensure all Kansans can vote in the critical 2012 election.
And now Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is pushing for rushed implementation of additional provisions of the law originally set to go into effect in 2013, including a requirement that voters provide a birth certificate or proof of citizenship to register to vote.
Rushed implementation could make this bad law much, much worse. That's why I created a petition to the Kansas State House and Senate and Governor Sam Brownback on SignOn.org urging them not to rush implementation of the Kansas voter ID law."
Many other states are passing similar laws and all are likely to be challenged in the courts.

An explosion rocked Zanu-PF provincial offices in Gweru on a December night,shattering windowpanes, in a suspected politically-motivated attack.
No one was injured in the explosion.
While police could not disclose the cause of the explosion, occupants of thebuilding – which houses other offices – suspect this was a pre-meditated attackon the Zanu-PF offices.
Said Midlands provincial policespokes-person Inspector Patrick Chademana: “We are still investigating thecause of the explosion which occurred yesterday at around 11pm.”

It’s not surprising that a governor who cut out all funding for public art in Kansas would now propose replacing a high school diploma with technical education certificates. The certificate is Governor Sam Brownback’s latest effort to turn our young people into autotrons that can function as workers for local corporations, while leaving them lacking a well rounded education.
The Wichita School System has reduced the number of foreign languages it offers students. Soon Spanish may be the only foreign language available to them by the time Brownback is done with our educational system.
Education has been taking huge cuts. Driver’s education has been eliminated and there has been talk of eliminating everything from sports to music and art classes. Arts and liberal arts don’t seem important to either the Governor or most of the legislators in the Kansas House and Senate.
It’s not surprising that Senator Jean Schodorf, R-Wichita, and Senator Steve Abrams, R-Arkansas City, a former State Board of Education member, both favor this new idea, according to The Wichita Eagle. Abrams is known for opposing the teaching of evolution in science classes. Several area Technical Colleges like the proposal since they will make more money off of it. For Students to learn about the world around them is also a low priority. A high school student can get a diploma with only one semester of geography or world studies. As the world and business become more global, our leaders are still thinking only of local businesses as if the rest of the world is irrelevant. We are fighting wars in Afghanistan, Colombia, and are in conflict in other parts of the world; and yet we spend little time educating our students about all these places.

Brownback wants to give $1,000-per-certificate incentives to high schools. The total he wants to spend is $20.5 million.
Kansas is already a difficult place for any type of artist, photographer, or musician to make a living. Agriculture, manufacturing aircraft and aircraft related businesses are the only thing Kansas politicians seem to think this area is good for.
At the same time the US is becoming more involved with the business and culture in other countries. Our young people are not being prepared for that.
We are a multi-cultural country and yet little attention is paid to educating our young people about their own country and its cultural history.
More and more our education system is nothing more than a factory to create autotrons who are oblivious to the world outside our state and city. Culture, philosophy and politics are not being taught to the extent that we can expect the next generation to understand the system they vote in.
This lack of knowledge will also lock some people into job markets with low pay and few opportunities to move up.

Soutenons les prisonniers marocains de la Voie Démocratique Basiste MLM !
Depuis 2008, des luttes intenses sont menées au Maroc pour obtenir la
libération des prisonniers de la Voie Démocratique Basiste MLM (VDB MLM) et
d'autres détenus politiques. Ils font partie avec des syndicalistes
ouvriers, des chômeurs insurgés (Ifni) et des détenus sahraouis de tous ces
« ennemis intérieurs » réprimés par le régime réactionnaire marocain. Leur
courage et leur détermination au service des intérêts du peuple a permis à
leur lutte de dépasser les frontières du Maroc malgré le blackout
médiatique. Cette lutte résonne à travers le monde, elle sert d'exemple pour
tous ceux qui se dressent contre l'ordre injuste des capitalistes, des
féodaux, des tortionnaires.

La VDB MLM est un courant révolutionnaire né au sein de l'UNEM (Union
Nationale des Étudiants du Maroc), c'est un héritier du « front uni des
étudiants progressistes » qui existait dans les années 1970. Son idéologie
se base sur le marxisme-léninisme-maoïsme. Les militants de VDB MLM ont été
emprisonnés car ils mènent la lutte pour une éducation gratuite pour les
fils et filles du peuple, contre la « charte nationale de l'éducation »,
contre la privatisation et la militarisation des universités ; ils défendent
les droits des masses populaires dont les étudiants font majoritairement
partie, ils défendent la solidarité internationaliste, notamment avec la
Palestine occupée et avec les guerres populaires. Ils sont enfermés ou ont
connu la prison car ils sont communistes.

D'autres ont été tués. Comment ne pas évoquer le martyr Abdelrrazak El
Agadiri, membre de l'UNEM et de la VDB MLM, assassiné le 28 décembre 2008,
lors d'une manifestation de soutien au peuple de Gaza ? Le régime avait d'ailleurs
tenté de cacher sa dépouille en le sortant en catimini de l'hôpital Ibn
Tufayl. Pourtant, son combat vit toujours.

La lutte pour la libération du groupe Zahra Boudkour (emprisonnée depuis la
15 mai 2008) puis pour la camarade Ilham Hasnouni (raptée à son domicile le
12 octobre 2010) n'a pas encore totalement aboutie malgré la libération de
ces deux figures révolutionnaires et de certains de leurs camarades. Ilham
Hasnouni a succédé à Zahra Boudkour comme plus jeune prisonnière politique
du Maroc, c'est une étudiante de l'Université de Marrakech, âgée de 21 ans,
militante communiste et syndicaliste de l'UNEM. Détenue durant plus de dix
mois sans jugement, elle a été arrêtée sans mandat ni convocation préalable
et torturée début octobre 2010 pour des faits qui remontent à des
manifestations dans la cité universitaire en 2008. Des évènements similaires
eurent lieu à Fès en mars 2009. Les affrontements des étudiants avec la
police aboutirent alors à plusieurs vagues d'arrestations. Les militants
sont poursuivis pour : destruction de biens de l'état, participation à un
rassemblement non-autorisé, humiliation d'un fonctionnaire dans l'exercice
de ses fonctions, utilisation de la force et même participation à un
groupement armé.

En novembre 2011, il reste trois détenus révolutionnaires basistes qui
croupissent en prison:

Mourad Achouini, arrêté le 15 mai 2008, condamné à 4 ans de prison
Youssef Elhamdiya, arrêté le 10 octobre 2010, condamné à un an et demi ferme
Abdelhak Talhaoui, arrêté le 23 février 2011, condamné à 4 ans de prison
ferme en première instance, condamnation ramenée à 10 mois de prison ferme
devant la cour d'appel en octobre 2011.

Pour le régime, la détention sert à briser les volontés des syndicalistes et
des militants politiques. Mais le mouvement de solidarité et l'accentuation
des luttes de classe au Maroc ont transformé les prisons en lieux de
résistance et de luttes. Finalement la revendication de la libération des
prisonniers s'est élargie à tout le mouvement populaire, elle est située sur
la plateforme du « Mouvement du 20 février ». Le Maroc est, à l'instar de l'Amérique
du Sud ou de l'entité sioniste, un centre historique de torture, de
persécution et d'élimination des opposants. Il garde ce sinistre privilège.
Marx disait que quand la bourgeoisie, fut-elle la plus démocratique, est
menacée, elle foule aux pieds sa propre légalité. Kidnappings, exécutions
extrajudiciaires, meurtres de militants maquillés sont aussi des armes de
terreur utilisées dans tous les régimes qui garantissent l'ordre
impérialiste. Les pays impérialistes sont les donneurs d'ordre quand ils ne
sont pas directement les agents de la torture. La lutte pour la libération
des prisonniers politiques est donc une question de classe, c'est une lutte
internationaliste qui concerne tous ceux qui luttent pour l'émancipation des
opprimés.

Nous appelons à développer des initiatives afin d'exiger leur libération
immédiate tout en popularisant leur combat !

Kansas: we have seen the future and it sucks

What will a Tea Party nation look like in the coming years? According to Annie Gowen, of the Washington Post all we need to do is look right here in Kansas to get our answer.
A lot of what she printed is familiar to those of us who keep up with our “gut, cut and kill” governor’s financial policies. She pointed out the Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and his cronies in the Kansas House and Senate have cost 2,050 public employees their jobs. We know that many of them are teachers caused by deep cuts into the education budget.
She notes our government gave back $31.5 million federal grant for a new health-insurance exchange because he opposes President Obama’s health-care law. He expects Obama care to get cancelled and he is so confident he gave back money that could have been used to spend on the Kansas people.
Many schools in Kansas have dropped driver’s education, and all foreign languages except Spanish.
Many schools are considering dropping sports, arts and music. And there may be more cuts coming.
All kinds of safety nets and social programs to the poor have been cut including subsidies to burry those who die in poverty. That cost is left to the funeral providers.
Brownback has created a ‘Office of the Repealer” to cut back on regulations for corporations. He also did away with all public art aid from the state.
So we will live in a state that has no public art, few experienced teachers and the schools mostly want teachers for math, science, and reading skills. They need to know nothing about the world around them, nor speak a foreign language because we all know everyone else in the world will learn it and speak it.

1. Need for a new report:

Now, the class struggle is at a serious juncture and this class struggle has been reflected on our party’s two-line struggle. The history of Nepal’s new people’s democratic revolution and communist movement is at a new turning point. We are in the grave type of labor pain. While, on the one hand, the conspiracy to liquidate the process of great people’s war initiated in 1996 into parliamentary quagmire is being consolidated; the revolutionary line, on the other, has emerged more effectively against this trend with a new commitment to give continuity to the Nepali new people’s democratic revolution.

In the history of Nepali people’s revolution and communist movement, a chapter has come to an end and a new chapter has begun. And this process is moving ahead. In order for us to carry forward and complete the task of Nepali revolution, a new historic necessity has emerged in the class struggle and two-line struggle of the party that requires us to face newer and more serious challenges. History has sought a clear-cut and straight answer from us whether to resolutely march forward facing and overcoming these challenges or to surrender before the reactionaries.

But our revolution continues. In this crucial period, the sacrifice and contribution and the stories of unprecedented courage and bravery of our great martyrs, disappeared and injured warriors and the people demonstrated in the entire Nepal’s revolution and great People’s War must be remembered with especial significance and due respect. The great ideals and dreams of people’s liberation and revolution are linked together as integral part of the fierce class struggle and two-line struggle in the party. And we can never forget these ideals and dreams.

The political report entitled “Brief Political Report on Emerging Crisis: Their solution and Future Programmes” presented by Chairman comrade Prachanda on December 24, 2011 in the central committee meeting has not recognized and acknowledged this complexity and reality of the class struggle and the two-line struggle. This has, hence, necessitated a separate political report.

Since 2008, intense struggles have been waged in Morocco to obtain the

release of prisoners of the Baseist Democratic Way MLM (VDB MLM) and

other political prisoners. They belong with union workers, the

unemployed insurgents (Ifni) and the Sahrawi prisoners as "internal

enemies" punished under the reactionary regime of Morocco. Their

courage and determination to serve the interests of the people allowed

their struggle beyond the borders of Morocco, despite the media

blackout. This struggle resonates throughout the world, it serves as an

example for all those who stand against the unjust order of the

capitalists, feudal landlords and torturers.

VDB MLM is revolutionary current born in the UNEM (National Union of

Students of Morocco) is an heir to the "united front of progressive

students" that existed in the 1970s. Its ideology is based on

Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. VDB MLM activists were imprisoned because they

lead the fight for free education for the son and daughters of the

people against the "national charter of education", against the

privatization and militarization of the universities, they defend the

rights of the masses which students are mostly part of, they defend

internationalist solidarity, especially with occupied Palestine and with

the people's wars. They are locked or have been imprisoned because

they are communists.

Others were killed. How can we forget the martyr Abdelrrazak El Agadiri,

, member of the UNEM and VDB MLM, murdered December 28, 2008, during a

protest in support of the people of Gaza? The regimealso tried to hide

his remains out the back door of the hospital Ibn Tufayl. However, his

struggle is still alive.

The struggle for the liberation of the Boudkour Zahra group (imprisoned

since May 15, 2008) and for the comrade Ilham Hasnouni (captured at her

home October 12, 2010) has not yet fully accomplished despite the

release of these two revolutionary figures and some of their comrades.

Hasnouni Ilham succeeding Zahra Boudkour as the youngest political

prisoner in Morocco, is a student at the University of Marrakech, 21

years old, a communist activist and trade unionist of the UNEM. Detained

for more than ten months without trial, she was arrested without a

warrant or prior notice tortured beginning in October 2010 for acts

dating back to events on campus in 2008. Similar events were held in Fez

in March 2009. Student clashes with the police then led to several waves

of arrests. The activists are charged with: destruction of property of

the state, participation in an unauthorized rally, humiliation of a

public servant in the performance of their functions, use of force and

even participation in an armed group.

In November 2011, there are three Baseist revolutionary prisoners

languishing in jail:

* Achouini Murad, arrested May 15, 2008, sentenced to four years in

prison

* Elhamdiya Youssef, arrested October 10, 2010, sentenced to a year and

a half

* Abdelhak Talhaoui, arrested Feb. 23, 2011, sentenced to four years in

prison at trial, conviction reduced to 10 months in prison before the

appeals court in October 2011.

For the regime, detention is used to break the will of the trade

unionists and political activists. But the solidarity movement and the

accentuation of class struggle in Morocco have turned prisons into

places of resistance and struggle. Eventually the demand for the release

of prisoners has grown in the popular movement, it is located on the

platform of the "Movement of 20 February." Morocco is, like

South America and the Zionist entity, a center of torture, persecution

and elimination of opponents. it keeps this sinister privilege. Marx

said that when the bourgeoisie, even the most democratic, is threatened,

it tramples on its own legality. Kidnappings, extrajudicial executions,

disguised killings of militants are weapons of terror used in all plans

that guarantee the imperialist order. The imperialist countries are the

principals even when they are not the direct agents of torture. The

struggle for the release of political prisoners is a matter for the

class, an international fight for all those who struggle for the

emancipation of the oppressed.

We call for developing initiatives to demand their immediate release

while popularizing their fight!

Wichitatried everything it could to bring the Boeing Tanker job to Wichita. They helped Boeing get the contract. Reps Todd Taihrt did all he could to nix a French company from building it. And in the long run, Boeing got the contract and Wichitans got the jobs

Rep. Mike Pompeo insisted to The Wichita Eagle that he was promised the jobs. Kansas official had pressured the Air Force to give a $35 billion contract to build the new tanker here.

Boeing is only doing what our latest politicians are suggesting. They are looking for the most money they can get for as little effort as they can get by with. In many smaller towns and cities, local governments have given free land, 10 year tax abatements, and other freebees to get a company to relocate. In some instances the companies relocate when the abatements are up and they can get a better deal. In this case Boeing decided it will be cheaper building it elsewhere were wages are probably less. Pompeo should understand that since he already sends jobs from his company to Mexico and other third world countries where labor is cheap. When during his election his opponent brought this up. Pompeo said ‘people have to be realistic.’

All the politicians are upset by Boeing, including Governor Sam Brownback. But they should remember what Pompeo said. ‘They are just being realistic.’
In the mean time, Boeing packs up and heads out of town just like a con man who just fleeced the flock.

Last night we were treated to another non-event—The Republican Primary. It was a hard choice for many because these people say exactly the same thing. They are Tea Party candidates who want to step up the war on poor people. They want to step up any war. They want the working poor to pay more taxes and lose all their safety nets while they give lavish tax cuts to the rich. There’s almost no difference between any of them, except for Ron Paul who wants to legalize all drugs. Legal drugs would be fun, but having no safety net for those who lose their jobs or no social security is not so good.

None of these people are fit to run a country. The only thing they might do is make things worse for all of us than they already are.

The mainstream press covers this the way they covered the Royal wedding (another yawner). The winners were Mitt Romney followed by Rick Santorum. They were elected in a caucus which means only a few registered Republicans got to actually vote. But we all now know that the Republicans don’t really want a lot of people voting. The LLRC Report has served to polarize an already, irrevocably, polarized society, placed barriers in bringing about reconciliation and opened the country to even more foreign intervention. Here was a golden opportunity for the State and the Regime to come clean, on which basis the bridges of reconciliation could have been built and all foreign powers that intend to pursue their geo-political agendas by exploiting the situation would have been silenced. This issue affects all of us. It is our collective honor and dignity that is at stake. As citizens, as the supreme People of Lanka, we do not want our country to be seen as a morally degenerate banana republic. The country belongs to us, its citizens. It cannot be held hostage to any particular political agenda or regime. This issue affects our collective moral conscience, our shared sense of justice, our collective identity as a civilized human community. Therefore, we must pursue the debate, however consequential it may be.

Why could not the LLRC be constituted by eminent and trusted citizens of all nationalities and communities, instead of servants of the State and the regime, that is itself part of the investigation? Why could it not have been constituted with the participation and observation of eminent and trusted international personalities that have neither truck with foreign powers nor the regime? These questions have to be addressed with honesty and integrity.

What is at issue is not only whether any particular alleged violation did take place and who ultimately should be accountable up the line of command, including both the Regime and the LTTE leadership. This core issue is fundamental to the process of reconciliation with justice, and to our future as a united, civilized nation. The issue is also whether the particular political ideology and agenda, and the military doctrine that logically flowed from it, that inspired and led the war, are accountable for an even more perfidious crime than the alleged crimes already identified. This question is of paramount import since the political agenda and the military doctrine itself is being auctioned as a model of counter-insurgency, and is being applied by the Indian State against the Maoist insurgency throughout the "Red Corridor".

If the war on the side of the Regime and the State was waged based on a political ideology and an accompanying military doctrine aimed at militarily liquidating the LTTE, along with its political-military leadership, and to annihilate the political status of the Tamil nation; if the war was waged under a military doctrine with no regard for collateral damage in order to achieve this objective; and with that, to consolidate a Sinhala-Buddhist hegemonic-chauvinist-militarist State that would feed into the political agenda of perpetuating the Rajapakse dynastic regime, then the war itself is on trial. Then, the prosecution of all allegations of war crimes and atrocities achieve overriding political and moral legitimacy, and have to be accounted for in the name of our collective civilized existence, honor and justice. If the war was waged as a war of military conquest and political subjugation, as opposed to a war to establish ground conditions for a negotiated peace, then the political, ideological, psychological and moral bases would have ensured the perpetration of the identified alleged crimes and atrocities, since it would have been waged against an enemy nation, as opposed to a particular organization. It is within this political context and situational matrix that the LTTE is also to be held accountable for its crimes against humanity, including war crimes!

The facts on the ground attest to this political agenda of national subjugation and military conquest. The political status of the Tamil nation has been deleted from the political discourse and the Tamil people have been brought under military rule. There would be no political solution ever that accords dignity, equality, security, autonomy and democratic freedom to the Tamil people as a nation. There would only be the manipulations and procrastinations just to perpetuate the military conquest and occupation and keep the Regime alive and perpetuated. As it is, frontline Ministers have declared their intention to oppose and sabotage any form of devolution or power-sharing with Tamils. A situation is being created where a whole new wave of anti-Tamil violence could be unleashed, that would make Black July look white! Again, all those who stand with the Tamil nation and seek to share this Land with them as equals would be hounded, terrorized, abducted and murdered. Read the lines. Mainline Ministers, media institutions and far away ambassadors join in denying the political status of the Tamil nation. Some argue, in Neanderthal fashion, that there is no Tamil nation that has been officially recognized by any international agency! How asinine! How blatantly supremacist. The language of the unrepentant Oppressor! By the way, Sir, nations are forged in struggle, and not according to text books and international prescriptions and formulas. In one stroke, the national liberation struggles of the oppressed people of Kashmir, Assam, Nagaland are to be obliterated. How did East Timor – Achec- gain recognition as a nation, or even South Sudan and Norway? The US itself was forged as a nation through a separatist war, a war of independence. Recognition of the right of self-determination is NOT a recipe for separation, nor is separation the only solution to national oppression, but the only guarantee for a lasting democratic union. It is the violent – terrorist suppression of this fundamental democratic right that has given birth to the politics of "separatist terrorism" in Sri Lanka. The war of military conquest and political subjugation has served to only to drive the aspiration for Tamil independence underground, where it may take deep root and sprout anew with renewed vigor and force.

The Rajapakse regime claimed that the war was waged with "zero civilian casualties". Why does it now acknowledge, under the sanction of the LLRC and mounting international pressure, that; "ok, there could have been some civilian casualties and some atrocities". Why is that it is only when pressure mounts and the blood-drenched rag is being disrobed, that the rulers admit? And then pass it off as insignificant aberrations on the part of some errant soldiers to be investigated and prosecuted by the same regime, and its own corrupt law-enforcement – judicial apparatus. This is the unconscionable role of the LLRC, to pave the ground for such an abominable and immoral cover up.

It is abjectly pitiful that, instead of joining to seek truth, justice and genuine reconciliation and bring lasting peace to our Land, craven apologists, media lackeys and pompous ambassadorial sycophants join the bandwagon in denouncing the political status of the Tamil nation and celebrate its military subjugation. The TNA has become the scapegoat for this deflection and political betrayal. The TNA has given up the demand for recognition of the political status of the Tamil nation. Yet, the TNA is hounded as if they are the main barrier in achieving reconciliation based on a democratic political solution. We have no truck with the TNA, a Comprador-Landlord bourgeois alliance with its headquarters in New Delhi. However, if the agenda is to deny the political status of the Tamil nation and to impose a chauvinist-hegemonic military dictatorship, then we shall stand with the oppressed Tamil nation in its struggle for liberation- as we have done consistently. Once again, if the cause of separatism and terrorism is unilaterally and singularly latched on to the LTTE, without accounting for its fundamental, generative cause in the construction of a unitary, chauvinist, hegemonic State and the policy of intensifying and systematic discrimination and violent suppression of the Tamil nation, then we shall have no truck with the regime and its apologists- and so with the LLRC. We shall not stand with the politics of division and suppression, but shall struggle untiringly to unite all revolutionary-democratic forces in the task of achieving a united, independent, democratic and prosperous Lanka.

In the end, the power of reason, truth and justice shall prevail, catch up and overcome. The masses shall not tolerate their pitiless oppression endlessly. They shall be awakened, organized and mobilized to struggle with scientific consciousness, philosophical enlightenment and political responsibility to overthrow all tyrants and together achieve their freedom. Nothing is eternal. Everything consists and exists in an eternal process of coming into being and passing away, yielding to ever evolving new heights of human emancipation. That is the dialectic of History! And that time for settling accounts at the tribunal of History is drawing near, with the passing of each day.

For Kansas, this has been the year of less. Less spending on education, no spending on the arts, less regulations on corporations, and big business, and lots of regulations for the individual.
Let’s look at education. Drivers education is gone. Spanish is now the only foreign language offered to students. In the past year, three state agencies have abolished 2,050 jobs as funding cuts. That includes a lot of teachers. Funding for schools, social services and the arts have been slashed. In fact Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has cut all public funding of arts.
Kansas lost $31.5 millionbecause Brownback doesn’t believe we will ever have to spend money on Obama-care. He doesn’t believe in it so we lost all that money.

No list of Kansas is complete without constant attacks on abortion rights, abortion clinics and those who perform abortion.
So they have passed a law HB 2218, a ban on later term abortion with no exception for fetal anomaly or clear definition of physical conditions that would constitute a threat great enough to the mother to allow the procedure.
Federal judges have protected an avowed anti-abortion terrorist from keeping away from an abortionist doctor who plans to practice here in Wichita.
A federal judge refused the government's request for a preliminary injunction ordering Angel Dillard, of Valley Center, KS, to stay away from Dr. Mila Means, of Wichita, her clinic and her home.
Even though Dillard has written a letter threatening Means, the courts have ruled she is protected by the First Amendment of the constitution.
Wichita maintains five golf courses, with city funding.Meanwhile, The median household income in SedgwickCounty fell 2.8 percent between 2007 and 2010. Childhood poverty went up. Kansans unemployment benefits for those still unemployed.
Our Kansas legislators raked in tens of thousands of dollars from lobbyist including gifts and meals.
City and county officials ran shotgun over people, forcing them to accept landfills near their homes and spending their money on business ventures such as hotels. Locally we all know that land developers own Wichita and Sedgwick County and no group of citizens is going to get in the way of their get rich schemes.

On the positive side, Wichita experienced a large and well organized Occupy Wichita movement. Almost 200 people showed up for the first march. There have been a steady group of people keeping that movement alive here in Wichita, despite our conservative image.

The year in review--its ups and downs

The big new this year was protests around the world. The US was overjoyed when protesters took aim at dictators they didn’t like, but then there was Bahrain. The US helped that government crack down on protesters because that country is an important ally. The US even gave financial support to that government to help them stamp out the protests.

What really made a mockery of the so called “Arab Spring” was the Occupy Wall Street movement. At first it was just a few hundred camped out near Wall Street complaining about banks running our lives. Then it spread to every major city in the country, from St. Louis, MO, Wichita, KS, New York City and Los Angeles.

This has bee THE story of the year, possibly the last 30 years. Not since the 1960s have young people taken to the streets to demand such change. The crowds have not been small. They also haven’t been treated with respect by our government and their lap dog mainstream media. At first the movement was completely ignored. Later they had to report when hundreds of young protesters were arrested because city governments were afraid of the crowds getting too bid and taking over.

One of the best ideas has been to interrupt these bastard Republicans when they try to spread their lying blather with “MIC CHECK!”

Turmoil also spread to Greece and

Italy

. Greece has had thousands take to the streets to battle the government over austerity measures that are robbing people of a living and a future to students living there. Similar trouble has taken place in Italy. Both government have accepted more austerity measure or they were threatened with being kicked out of the European Common Market. The Common Market still worries that both governments are teetering on collapse.

US Imperialism struck back hard this year on governments it was not at ease with. Top on their list was Muammar Qaddafi /مُعَمَّر القَذَّافِي . At first there was a protest rebellion. Many leftist groups took differing sides. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine demanded an immediate end to the bombardment and massacres against the heroic Libyan people, condemning the killing of demonstrators committed by the Qaddafi regime.

Turmoil also spread to Greece and

Others defended Qaddafi or warned that US and NATO would get involved and take the country over. Cuba’s Granma International said NATO’s plan was to occupy Libya.

As the protesters took up arms they were unable to unseat Qaddafi. So NATO blasted all of Qaddafi’s defenses and when the rebels took over, they found Qaddafi and killed him on the spot. They have also killed a lot of his family members. This has become routine for the

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker caused a massive protest and rebellion when he reduced wages for all public employees and tried to break their unions. He saw himself as another Ronald Reagan, but many of us feel he is nothing more than a Kock whore.

Nepal United Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) is now internally divided and the more radical faction seems to be picking up momentum. Member of the People’s Liberation Army feel they have been just left out of the process and Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal/पुष्पकमल दाहाल and his supporters are being accused of selling out the party,

A new Revolutionary International Movement RIM has been formed. Many of the old Maoist Parties have joined it. There is now an international for Maoists. Not all parties have joined and one interesting party left out is the US Revolutionary Communist Party. The party has fallen out of favor with the new RIM. Their now online magazine is Maoist Road.

More is emerging through the press of the rival faction to the Communist Party of Peru (Shining Path). CPP slams Aquino ceasefire violations

Citing initial reports from the New People’s Army (NPA), the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today slammed the Aquino regime for violating its own ceasefire declaration as its armed forces continue to wage its Oplan Bayanihan war of suppression against the people.
The CPP cited reports from Abra, Surigao del Sur, Isabela and Rizal provinces.

In Abra, two truckloads of soldiers belonging to the 50th IB occupied Sitio Sagsagod of Barangay Saccaang, Sallapadan on December 21 while another platoon occupied Barangays Palaquio and Tabiog in the municipality of Bucay. In violation of the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CAHRIHL), some of the operating troops stationed themselves inside the population centers and even at the Tabiog Elementary School while other troops scoured the mountains. The soldiers told the residents that they intend to stay up to the end of the year.

Around the same time, a van and two 6×6 trucks occupied the Barangay Hall of Barangay Gangal, a few meters away from Gangal Elementary School. Another AFP platoon disrupted a wedding in Barangay Naguillan, Sallapadan by unceremoniously entering the barrio after their combat operations. At present, 50th IB troops are also encamped inside the barangay hall and at the Barangay Bila-bila plaza in Sallapadan.

Why don't voters know about the voting law changes and will they be able to get the documents needed for these changes?
Will the legislators raise sales tax and put it on utilities in order to let the governor eliminate income taxes?
Will local districts have to raise local property taxes in order to pay for schools while cutting state funds and services?
Will the poor and at-risk children of large school districts get adequately educated with the new formula for schools?

If CMKP were also invited to the event, we would have surely raised our voice in defence of the position he took.

To defend the positive aspects of the Afghan revolution in this day and age of imperialist propaganda takes intellectual courage and integrity. And the otherwise mild mannered and unassuming Naeem Shakir has earned our respect by speaking with incredible passion in defence of the great struggle by Afghan communists and their leadership.

Workers Party members would do well to appreciate Naeem Shakir's courage and intellectual integrity.

Kansans will lose unemployment

Kansas will soon kick people of extended unemployment benefits.
Jobless Kansans will be loosing 13 weeks of unemployment benefits. According to The Wichita Eagle, the states unemployment will be too low to qualify for any federally funded program.
At present the unemployed may be collect for 86 weeks. That will drop to 73 in January.
Even worse is that Kansas workers may lose out depending on how Congress handles negotiations during the next few days to extend unemployment benefits.
This is all in connection the ruckus in the US House of Representatives. According to the Huffington Post;
Republicans and Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson have been preventing a final vote on the bill because of its $33 billion cost. Reid said the GOP filibuster, which has prevented more than 2.1 million people from receiving checks, is designed to crater the economy.

In Kansas the unemployment rate dropped below 6.5 percent. But that doesn’t help those who are still looking for work. There is still a lack of jobs for the majority, even though it’s not as bad as it was. The fooling around by Republicans in the US House also does not help. They only thing they seem to accomplish is gridlock.
It is pathetic that workers have to beg for extra unemployment they all paid into.

"Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK on Saturday announced the following notice to all party members, servicepersons and people:
"The Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK notify with bitterest grief to all the party members, servicepersons and people of the DPRK that Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, passed away of a sudden illness at 08:30 on December 17, Juche 100 (2011) on his way to field guidance.
"He dedicated all his life to the inheritance and accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche and energetically worked day and night for the prosperity of the socialist homeland, happiness of people, reunification of the country and global independence. He passed away too suddenly to our profound regret.
"His sudden demise at a historic time when an epochal phase is being opened for accomplishing the cause of building a powerful and prosperous socialist state and the Korean revolution is making steady victorious progress despite manifold difficulties and trials is the greatest loss to the WPK and the Korean revolution and the bitterest grief to all the Koreans at home and abroad.
"Kim Jong Il, who was born as a son of guerillas on Mt. "Kim Jong Il possessed of personality and qualifications as a great man on the highest and perfect level was an outstanding thinker and theoretician who led the revolution and construction along the path of steady victories with his profound ideologies and theories and remarkable leadership. He was also peerlessly political elder and outstanding and illustrious commander of Songun and peerless patriot and tender-hearted father of the people who recorded the whole history of the revolutionary struggle with ardent love for the country and its people and noble dedication.
