Let the Wichita taxpayers pay for being dumb

The headline on the Opinion page of the right-wing Republican-mouthpiece “miss-called” newspaper, The Wichita Eagle, April 22, 2005, insisted that Matthew Cuellar, who legally bought a sculpture the city auctioned off, should “Give sculpture back.” Oh really? In what universe does someone walk up to a buyer at an auction and say “I need that back. I didn’t realize it was valuable.” Any buyer would laugh in that person’s face and if they went to court, as the city already did, the judge would laugh in their faces (yes this has already happened).
So why give it back? The Eagle is appealing to Cuellar on moral grounds and his compassion for local taxpayers. Compassion? Does the city have any of its own to give out? I haven’t seen it. So far:

*A recent headline in The Wichita Eagle, April 15, said: “Wichita trashes recycling program” The kicker went even further: “Opposition from city officials land trash companies leads to quick abandonment of a plan to mandate a citywide recycling fee.”
*Mayor Carlos Mayans went after all adult entertainment a few weeks ago. That went beyond attacking strip joints and hard core sex shops. It also included harmless soft core places such as Priscilla’s. What happened to an adults right to choose his or her entertainment?
*Let’s not forget the Visioneering Wichita statement designed to make non-religious people feel unwelcome here.
*And there is a constant push to use taxpayer’s money for boondoggle projects that have, so far, always failed.

So if the taxpayers of Wichita insist on voting in incompetent idiots, who wouldn’t know art if it bit their ass, let them pay the price. It’s an expensive lesson, but one that is easy to fix. Get rid of your dumb-ass politicians!!!
So stick it to the city Mr. Cuellar and stick it to The Eagle. There are no moral values in Wichita, just mean-spirited selfishness disguised as morals.
