Jesse Helms – You may come out of the closet now!

Jesse Helms is known for being a racist, among other things. He’s not really a conservative, in the traditional sense of the word. He’s supported death squads in El Salvador, defended burning college students in Chile, by military authorities, during the Augusto Pinochet regime. Yet through all of this, moderates in both parties have given him the respect of a seasoned colleague. It is a respect he has never earned.
Just as homophobes (people who fear they may have gay tendencies) are the most anti-gay, here we see why Helms is so racist and sexist.
