Kansas legislature- banning K2 and health care- caring about your health-NOT

Once again the automatons of the Kansas Legislature are positioned to ban a new herbal high called K2. This is reported to be a marijuana like substance, but without the THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient of marijuana). They are trying to block any health care reforms that might make people’s lives better and safer, yet they can’t wait to ban a substance that many adults may want to use. The drug may even be safer than marijuana, but no tests are being done to find out.
These days herbal highs are banned immediately before hearing any input from people who use them. Some Herbs are used for religious reasons, such as Datura. Minority religions are soundly ignored in Kansas. Religious herbs are banded along with new substances that have not been tested as safe or not safe. Once a substance is banned, that is the end of it.
If these drugs were really banned for safety reasons, politicians would have passed health care reform that would save many more lives than a ban on a substance that a few people want to use. The argument is always that children will use them, but we regulate alcohol with age limits. There is no reason that age limits can’t be put on herbs such as K2. Politicians are pandering to religious people and that is their main motivation for banning these substances. Many religious leaders and their followers seem to see drugs as competition with their organizations which are designed to use rituals, chanting and beliefs to feel good as opposed to chemicals.
According to The Wichita Eagle, “The bill on Thursday's Senate debate calendar has already won House approval. Senate passage would send it to Gov. Mark Parkinson”.
The bill seems to be a certainty. But they are also working hard to block any health care reform here in Kansas. The welfare of insurance companies come before people who have pre-existing conditions which might take their lives.
