Never before has America bought into such mean-spirited politics. The Republican Party has always been more conservative, pro-wealthy, big businesses, anti-progressive and for a time, just plain fascist. They’ve also reached a new level of mean-spirited rhetoric.
When was the last time any member of congress took delight in calling a president, who has been in office on year, a “one term president?”

“Fresh off his weekend back-and-forth with the Obama administration, former Vice President Dick Cheney took his fight to the heart of the political right, making a surprise address Thursday to the Conservative Political Action Conference and telling them President Obama will be defeated in 2012.
"I think Barack Obama is a one-term president," he said.
Mr. Cheney's appearance was greeted by a standing ovation, with some even getting on top of their chairs.”
Then there is Sarah Palin mocking all those who voted for Obama hoping for some positive change for this country when she said, at a Tea Bagger rally, “How’s that Hopey-Changey Thing Working Out for Ya?”
The Republicans are taking a delight in grid-locking congress and keeping the new president from getting anything done at all. Their plan seems to be to keep the president lock in a position where he can accomplish nothing….that is to say, no health reform, no success on fixing the economy, no action of any kind to fix the problems we are in. They will keep the white house impotent until the next presidential elections, in which the figure to win by default,
The have no program or plan of their own to fix the economy. That doesn’t matter. They seem to take it for granted that people will vote out a president that they have rendered ineffective. They have offered nothing new themselves. They strictly tear down what any one else tries to do and they blather on about budget deficits that our children will inherit. They are following the likes of Herbert Hoover, who was voted out of office for doing nothing about the economy and showing an indifference to the poor. He was voted out and his philosophy was completely discredited. And strangely enough today’s Republicans think they can win with this philosophy. It’s understandable they might believe this given their success at convincing people there is no global warming. The evidence for that phenomenon is overwhelming and yet these politicians and their black-shirts, the Tea Baggers, have convinced people not to worry that polar ice caps are melting.
One thing we can do in the short run is refuse to be an organ donor as long as our parts go to rich people who can afford medical coverage while many of us workers go without. That is something people will notice. It’s no crueler than saying “I don’t want to pay for someone else’s health insurance.” We, on the left, need to get nasty and mean-spirited ourselves. If a Church invites Palin to speak at a fundraiser, as will happen in Wichita, May 2, as a fund raiser for Bethel Life School, a Christian school, That school needs to be ridiculed and any fundraisers they hold need to be boycotted and protested.
