A Native American Perspective on Columbus Day

The truth about Christopher Columbus is that he never knew he found a new continent or the “new world.” He went to find spices in India and thought he landed in Indonesia. That’s where he thought he was when he landed on an island off the cost of Central America.
He was a profiteer who thought the Atlantic and Pacific was one small ocean. He saw the Native Americans as potential slaves and gave them European diseases
Others followed him which is why he became so well known. He was never the first European to reach the US. Vikings Leif Ericson also reached the America’s, about 1100. People from other parts of the world also made it here, such as the Australian Aborigines.
