Can the Democrats learn from their mistakes?

The Democrats just can’t seem to learn from their mistakes. They seem to believe that the left will always vote for them, no matter what they say or who they pander to. All the press on TV yesterday was on Hillary Clinton. She may be important, but it is all about bigwigs endorsing each other, not about issues or concerns people had. The same thing happened in 1968, where the left couldn’t even get a discussion on the Vietnam War in the Democratic National Convention.
Now we have Afghanistan and Iraq.
Mad magazine once put out a back issue called “Where’s Waldo for dummies.” It had just one large picture of Waldo. The Dems think those of us on the left are that stupid. They treated people concerned about the direction of the country as if they don’t even belong here and spent all night sucking up to fellow big wigs.
I’m glad people stood up to this charade and I only wish I had the funds and time to join them. We need this demonstration badly. I also understand demonstrations are planned for Republicans, but they are so abhorrent, that few of us need convincing they are just a step away from a fascist party.

New coverage for the big names!
For the outsiders, this is our welcome!

Here is the latest from the demonstrations:

March with Iraq Veterans in Denver Wednesday, August 27th!
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Support Iraq Veterans’ Just Demands on Candidate Obama & March With Them!Iraq Veterans Against the War delivered a letter to Barack Obama on Monday August 25, with these demands:

1. The immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces from Iraq.

2. Full and adequate health care and benefits to all returning service members and veterans.

3. Reparations made to the Iraqi people for the destruction caused by the U.S. war and occupation.

On Wednesday, Rage Against the Machine, The Coup, Wayne Kramer, the Flobots and others are playing a free show at the Denver Coliseum to support Iraq Vets Against the War.

If Obama has not replied by 3:00 pm Wednesday August 27 that he will comply with these demands, IVAW has announced they will march to the Pepsi Center. These are just demands, and the veterans and their supporters should be allowed to march. We the undersigned call on people to march with IVAW to the Pepsi Center. Ron Kovic, Vietnam veteran, author, “Born on the 4th of Jully”
