At least 17 policemen sustained injuries Friday when Maoist guerrillas detonated a powerful land mine in front of their vehicle in Chhattisgarh' s southern Bastar region.
The incident took place on a state highway in Narayanpur district, some 250 km south of capital Raipur.
"It was a huge blast but it missed the target. The mine exploded 10 metres in front of the mini bus with 25 policemen on board,"
"The blast created a huge crater on the road, and flying stones smashed window panes of the vehicle, injuring the policemen," an Indian official said.
The injured men were rushed to a hospital in Narayanpur town, 18 km from the attack site.
