For those on the left who want to survive the next century, better buy a gun, learn to use it and if you have the money, get a conceal and carry permit. We need to be armed and ready to defend ourselves. All the laws the right wing has passed to allow them to arm themselves allow us to arm ourselves also. We can do it all legally thanks to the conservative pro-gun lobby. There are groups that clearly see us as an obstacle to their beliefs and we have few reasons to doubt their belligerent threats.
The armed left may be the only left that can survive the ever growing “black-shirt” style threats of these whacked out ultra-right-wing nuts. They will not accept changes that come through a democratic process and they are making that perfectly clear.
For example take The National Association of Rural Landowners. This is what they have to say to their followers:

because you are going to need it!

For the record, if you are a self reliant American you make your own car, clothes, grow your own food and so forth. You don’t rely on others to do these things.
Thomas Frank, author of The Wrecking Crew, How Conservatives Ruined Government, Enriched Themselves, and Beggared The Nation, spoke at the Watermark Book Store tonight and he said he has noticed that many conservatives are showing up with either guns or sign warning that they may show up with guns the next time.
The National Association of Rural Landowners is not the only group of nut jobs to speak of taking up arms. Do we take these kooks seriously? Why take a chance.
If they want a civil war with us, let’s be ready to give it to them.
