Unrest in Nepal

A number of events are taking place in Nepal. Probably the most important is the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) of pushing for political power. From Nepalnews.com:

Protests meant to topple govt, says Maoist leader

"Unified CPN (Maoist) vice chairman Narayankaji Shrestha has said the objective of the protest programmes is to topple the current coalition government and form a national consensus government under his party's leadership.Speaking at the Reporters' Club on Wednesday, Shrestha refuted rumours that his party might support Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala as the future prime minister of the country. He claimed that failure of other parties to allow debate on the President's move in parliament will invite political disaster, which he said will pull down the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led government. He rejected calls from other political parties to end the House deadlock adding they will continue obstructing the parliament until others agree on their demand, what he claimed is for restoring civilian supremacy."

Recently I raised the idea of a Marxist flag of national identity for the US. That is now taking place in Nepal:

Parties divided on national flag
"Main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist), Rastriya Janamorcha and Dalit Janajati Party have put forth proposal for changing national flag. The Maoist party has proposed new design of national flag with stars at par with the number of states. However, Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, among others, opposed the idea saying the existing flag is good enough to identify Nepal."
