Wichita Kansas now has a chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to “preserving the constitutional principle of church-state as the only way to ensure religious freedom for all Americans.” The new AU chapter, in the Wichita, KS area, is called The Great Plains Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

“We are excited to be part of such a respected organization that has been dedicated to educating the public since 1947 of keeping church and state separate. In a world wracked by sectarian violence and religious fanaticism, nothing could be more important than keeping religion separate from government to preserve our own democratic republic”, said Vickie Sandell Stangl, chapter president.

The new chapter will hold its first Annual Meeting on September 21st, 7:00pm at the 20th Century Center, 536 N. Broadway, Wichita, Kansas. After a short business meeting the public is invited to hear the presentation “In Defense of America’s Secular Government”, by Ms. Stangl who is a lecturer in the Political Science Department at Wichita State University.
