Wiki leaks bring out anti-war sentiments

From Wichita Peace and Freedom Party Examiner

It has been news all over the country, with chilling consequences. That is the U.S. military documents that were leaked to wikileaks.org. It is the most significant leak of secret U.S. military documents since Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers.
The parallels to the Vietnam War could not be much closer. Afghanistan is a war that is losing popularity. The leaked material shows that the war is not going well. It also reveals that civilians are being killed with reckless disregard. It all sounds like Vietnam all over again.
As In Vietnam we were told that we had to win. We were told that a domino affect would spread throughout Indochina. Since that time, only two other countries fell and the U.S. has recovered from our first war loss. The U.S. is not used to losing wars and it may have to get used to it if we stay in Afghanistan.
Several empires have tried to control Afghanistan over the last 1,000 years and no country has done it. Not only are we likely to lose, we don’t need to win. Al-Qaeda has mostly left Afghanistan and is head quartered in Yemen now. The Taliban are a local phenomenon and in the long run, they are more likely to lose control without U.S. troops being there. Bradley Manning is charged by the US Army with leaking that footage. What he has leaked has been information that the people have a right to know. He is not a criminal and doesn’t need to be treated as one. If he helps bring this unnecessary war to an end then he has done his country a favour.
