More meaningless elections

It’s local election time and as a leftist it is both a letdown and an opportunity. The real winners amass huge fortunes of more than $100,000, even if the job pays less than that.
Our city is pretty much run by local real estate interests. They put the heavy money in the real estate pockets and then farm land is taken out of production, houses are built in flood plains, then the city spends on flood control. Wild life wetlands are moved and it is assumed the migrating birds will guess where we stuck it.
Millions are being spent on businesses along the river. Most of us won’t get anything out of it, but the business community will make profits off our money.
If they build a Wal*Mart or some other monstrosity across the street from us, they charge us for the improvements even if we don’t want that store across the street from us.
The newspaper and TV station pick the winner ahead of time for us so we don’t have to be bothered with people urging us to vote, or discussing any issues. It’s a sanitized system were they run things and we vote in meaningless elections.
I know this is not a problem only known to Wichita. So where ever my readers live, if this story sounds familiar, join the club.
Over qualified candidate.
