Statements on the attacks on Libya, more ignoring of Bahrain by US and NATO—more lies

The following are statements on Libya, as to the imperialist nature of the constant bombardment of that country by the US and NATO forces who claim to speak for the entire world. But they only speak for world imperialist and they make up all kinds of lying excuses to wage a war on Libya and its present leader Mohamer Gaddafi. They claim the violence in Libya is far worse than the other rebellions…an outright lie. Bahrain is also mired in violence. They claim the other dictators may be inspired to act as Gaddafi to stay in power……another convenient lie. The west has traditionally hated Gaddafi while embracing all the other dictators in the Middle-east. They claim they are acting out of humanitarian reasons…another lie. Libya has a vast oil reserve. People are being killed all over the Middle-east and Africa and the US and NATO chose only Libya to take action. US troops are committing atrocities in Afghanistan and nothing is done about that. -សតិវ អតុ

No to the imperialist war of aggression against the Libyan people
Alongside with the anti-imperialist democratic revolution and the resistance of the Arab peoples

The imperialist powers headed by France, Britain and the U.S. have triggered a war of aggression against Libya for getting rid of Gaddafi that, although he broke the anti-imperialist role he played for years after the success of the anti-colonial movement in 1969, remains however, a collaborator unreliable to make a strong clutch at country’s natural resources and to roll back the revolution taking place in Arab countries.

The speculators who starve the world, the accomplices of the Israeli Zionists, the killers of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq are posing as champions of democracy and human rights, hiding behind the fig leaf of a resolution passed by a body in the service of Washington government and the Zionists. They deliberately ignored the proposal made by the Venezuelan government and supported by the countries of ALBA (Bolivarian Alternative of the Peoples Alliance for Our America) to form a “Commission for International Humanitarian Peace and integrity of Libya , to send observers and to work to mediate between the parties, in order to avoid a military attack in the country and within the international community’s efforts to help Libyan people”, and gave the green light to the “group of the willing criminals” that had already turned the engines of the Tornado airplanes.

The campaign of misinformation and public intoxication in which the bourgeois mass media paved the way to a military attack (do you remember the “weapons of mass destruction” of Saddam Hussein?) hammered at the fact that “ they are the Benghazi rebels who ask the West to intervene to stop the massacre of civilians.” Even if we grant for the sake of argument about these “requests for help,” it would not be the first time that the imperialist forces maneuver, infiltrate, corrupt and conspire to transform organizations and popular movements in an instrument to be used to their own purposes. Why are British SAS special forces agents and soldiers working in Libya for weeks? Is it by chance that the Chief of Staff of the rebel army is a Libyan former general recently returned in Libya after having been for twenty years “exile” in United States?
As it is not the first time that movements and organizations promoted and fed for counter-revolutionary purposes by the imperialist forces turn against their own patrons.

The ongoing revolutions in the Arab and Muslim countries have alerted the ringleaders of world imperialism that are doing something to salvage whatever possible of their “world order” that is falling to pieces under the joint pressure of the new wave of proletarian revolution and of the gang war between the imperialist robbers. The uncouth rush to decide who more and better is bombing Libya, the struggle for control of operations, the dissociation of the German Government, the military will to be at the centre of attention by the French Government and the disintegration of the “group of the willing criminals” reflect the clashes, the tensions, the bitter struggle among the imperialist groups: too many and too sharp are the differences, the special interests, the competition for a major role in the division of the spoils, the fear of inflaming the anti-feudal and anti-imperialist New Democratic Revolutions going on in the Arab and Muslim countries!

The Berlusconi’s government joined the initiative of the “group of the willing criminals.” It is the fourth time (after Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan) that the Italian bourgeoisie and its center-right and center-left governments, openly violating the Constitution, drag our country into a war of aggression passed off as a “humanitarian mission”. This time is to “protect civilians” the same population that our interventionists keep and force in barbaric and inhumane conditions when landing on Lampedusa island! The hairsplitting of the Northern League, the firm support of the Democratic Party, the praise of the “defender” of the Constitution Napolitano [the President of the Republic, Note of Translator], the ambiguous statements by the CGIL [the biggest Italian trade union, Note of Translator] (first it supports the creation of the no-fly zone then, after the bombing started, calls for “a political and diplomatic initiative“), the blessing of the Vatican hierarchy are the umpteenth, further confirmation that the Berlusconi’s gang is a sinking boat, but above all that the “holy alliance” of those who put the profits of the capitalists, the financiers of capital gains, the balance of public accounts above everything and everyone, of those who cannot conceive of other civilization than to produce for making profit, can only drag us toward new world wars and the devastation of the planet.

The peace movement is on the move: sit in, mobilizations, action against the headquarters of ENI [Hydrocarbons National Board, that has plants in Lybia, Note of Translator]... The Network “Disarmiamoli” has launched an appeal to make a national demonstration in Naples, the headquarters of U.S. naval forces in Europe, the headquarters of the naval forces of Africa Command and those of the Allied Joint Force. Inside the CGIL they are multiplying the stances against the war and the intricacies of Camusso [General Secretary of CGIL, Note of Translator ]: the struggle against military action in Libya is an integral part of the general, political and widespread strike! Some components of the peace movement have appealed to make a national demonstration in Mineo, in Sicily, to free refugees detained in a lager of the State (CIE: Center for Identification and Expulsion) with an action of social disobedience and allow them to move freely, in various European countries. Let’s answer to imperialist war, making the country ungovernable by the Berlusconi’s gang, developing a broader mobilization against the war (strengthened by the experience of the No War movement which developed in the U.S. against the war in Iraq), civil disobedience against racist measures taken against refugees, supporting the riots in the CIEs, refusing to pay increased fees for the costs of the war, promoting strikes and sabotage in the factories that produce weapons and seek to do lucrative business. Against imperialist war everything that is in the interest of the masses is legitimate, even if it is illegal!

Not a penny for the government of war, poverty, racism!
Not a soldier for the war of aggression against the masses of the people of Libya and other Arab countries!
Let’s throw out the government of war, nuclear power and misery!
Its place must be taken by a popular emergency government, formed by people trusted by workers and popular organizations and decided, even at the cost of damaging the interests of the rich and going against their habits and will, to give to the special and concrete measures indicated by worker and popular organizations form and force of government decrees,
- to eliminate immediately the worst effects of the economic and environmental crisis and prevent its recurrence despite the crisis of capitalism that is rampant throughout the world,
- to start the rebirth of the country and establish links of solidarity, cooperation and exchange with countries willing to establish with us, because they too want to escape the grip of the imperialist world system.

Dear Friends,

20th March, shamelessly another war has imposed on the world. This is the
same date when eight years back Iraq was attacked by collation forces to
brig security for everyone. But this time target population is people of
Libya, using same old and absurd accuse, protecting people, eliminating
dictatorship and bringing democracy in the country. Air strikes and
missiles have started to operate for this “noble” cause. We were told that
Countries which responsible of this assault are kind enough to think about
the welfare of Libyans, hence will try their best to keep civil casualties
as minimum as possible. Strike would continue till Kernel Gaddafi gets off
from power.

What would be more disgusting than this?

Hard to digest, countries that claim to be developed and civilized do such
violent and uncivilized acts to deal with world problems. Sudan, Iraq,
Afghanistan, Pakistan and many other countries are painful examples of so
called “elected governments’ love for democracy and hunger for absolute
rule. “Might is Right not law of past. These governments are not bringing
destruction and death on weak and under developed regions while insulting
their own people who believe in peace and human rights for everyone.

On behalf of Working Women Organization and women workers in Pakistan who
are already victim of so called war on Terrorism, I express our deep
distress and concerns on attack on Libya. USA, UK and other European
countries’ Air strikes on Libya are entirely revolting and condemnable. We
people of the world especially Europeans nations must act swiftly to stop
their governments brutal proceedings and tell them “no more war”. Every
national must have freedom to decide their political and financial future
by them self without any external and violent interruption. This attack is
not different then Kernel Gaddafi’s violence that he was doing to protect
his power.

Weapons and war never ever bring democracy and stability. We strongly
reject and condemn those who kill million to get their hidden interests in
the name of democratic system.

Our warmest thoughts and solidarity with the Libyans as well as all the
victims of war.

In solidarity,

STRUGGLE INDIA

(A mass front organization constituted with various mass, class organizations like porattom)

Barbarous Incursion and Intervention condemned.
The Single spark from Tunishia is spreading like a prairie fire through out the Arab world. A wave of spontaneous mass struggles is sweeping across the Arab countries like Ejipth, Bahrin & Libya etc. No doubt, the tide is against the reactionary and totalitarian imperialist puppet rulers of these countries and their policies.

Not only the reactionary rulers of these countries but the imperialist including US also are got upseted and trumbled at these developments. And they indulged in various intravenous and interventions to deceive and defeat the struggling masses and install their own new guards in order to maintain their hegemony and exploitations over these countries.

With the direct united armed action on Libya and the UN sanction for it, the intention of the imperialist powers have become more explicit. Since the US, France, Britan and Italy like countries have a history of terminator of freedom, democracy and development in third world countries, it is a great joke to say that the present armed attacks are to save democracy in Libya. It is nothing but a shear barbarous incursion and intervention into the sovereignty and freedom of Libyan people and in the internal affairs of Libya. Let the destiny of the Libya be decided by its own people. We vehemently condemn the united armed action, assuming themselves as an ‘International Police’. By giving sanction for the imperialists armed attacks on Libya, the UN itself has taken the role of a marshal in this war.

We urge all democratic, patriotic forces and people of our land to raise their voice against this aggression at Libya. We warn that the struggling people of the Arab world, particularly Libya have to be extra vigilant against the danger of the wolf that trying to enter on various pretext through the back door, while driving out the tiger through front door. We like to invite the attention to the statement of Tunishian Maoist Communist Party, “the agenda must not be confined to change the guards only but they should extend to changing the whole system itself”.

Imperialists, Hands off Libya!
Humanitarian Intervention is a euphemism for Military Invasion!

The United Nations Security Council on 17th March approved a resolution for the United States and other major imperialist powers to conduct direct military intervention in Libya. It however has maintained the old pretence of this being a “humanitarian” mission to protect civilian lives. The resolution, backed by the US, France, Britain and Lebanon, nullified the earlier proposals for a no-fly zone, and authorized the use of military force including “all necessary measures … to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack.” These “areas” include Benghazi, the city with a population of one million which has been the stronghold of the revolt that began against the Gaddafi dictatorship a month ago. Both British and French rulers had already started air strikes and have confirmed more intensified attack in the coming days on Libya. The American military officials too had warned that even the imposition of a no-fly zone will require the prior destruction of the Libyan air bases. This implies direct bombardment which inevitably will lead into massive civilian killing. Already, there are reportedly two civilian hospitals and a medical clinic that have been bombarded by the ongoing air raids. The US had also made it clear that it is going to use cruise missiles, manned and unmanned drone aircrafts. As per the media reports, so far, the US has already fired 124 Tomahawk missiles on strategic air defense systems across Libya and the Pentagon official did not rule out any additional missile strikes against the Libyan regime in coming days.

Sham of ‘Democracy’= Geo-Politics of Big Oil

These plans for war are not motivated by any intentions to protect the Libyan people or further the cause of democracy, as the imperialists are proclaiming within the UN Security Council. This belligerent intervention by the Iraq-style “coalition of the willing” led by US in the oil-rich Libya is only driven by profit interests and geopolitical imperatives and have nothing to do with any “humanitarian” pretenses of these powers with brutal histories. The aim is to exploit the civil war in Libya to impose a completely titular regime which will remain completely loyal to these powers and to the major Western oil conglomerates to ensure free export of oil in future. The real aim of the US-backed intervention is therefore to suppress any genuine revolution and ensure that any regime that replaces Gaddafi serves not the interests of the Libyan people, but rather the demands of Washington and Big Oil. The NATO has legitimized this intervention by citing that they have ‘regional support’. This support comes from none other than the Arab league which consists of dictators, royalists and emirates who have always served the interests of the imperialists and have often violently repressed popular upsurges in their own countries. The autocrats of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have also indicated that they will send military forces to attack Libya. Right now the two Arab countries who have formally registered their support in the UN and are ready to join the US-NATO assault are Qatar and UAE, both ruled by feudal monarchs and are currently aiding Saudi Arab’s violent intervention in Bahrain to repress the mass upsurge of people against its ruling monarchy.

Parody of ‘Humanitarian Intervention’= Propping up Imperialist Stooges

The sham of ‘humanitarian intervention’ is being trumpeted faithfully in the corporate media. Right after the mass upsurge in Libya started, major sections of the media have been portraying it in a way that suits the imperialist interests. On Feb. 22 BBC showed footage of crowds in Benghazi pulling down the green flag of the republic and replacing it with the flag of the overthrown monarch King Idris – who had been a puppet of US and British imperialism. Right now the media is once again justifying the war on Libyan people by dubbing it as the ‘war against Gaddafi’. The media will never focus on the real imperialist intention which is to tighten its grip over Libya as a semi-colony, ruled by the United States and its fellow predators from Western Europe, who will seize control of the oil reserves and transform the country’s territory into a strategic base of operations against all the mass upsurges which is now sweeping West Asia and North Africa.

Washington, which pretends to be outraged over the killing of Libyan civilians and bent on saving lives, is itself responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan. On the very eve of the UN vote, the US war machine has carried out the cold-blooded murder of around 40 civilians (media count) in a drone attack in Pakistan. The same powers stood by the Tunisian and Egyptian dictators, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak when they massacred demonstrators seeking jobs, democratic rights and an end to the plundering of their country and their resources by the corrupt ruling elite. They offered political, diplomatic and in some cases direct security assistance in an effort to prop up these stooge regimes. In the same two weeks that Gaddafi’s security forces have shot down opposition demonstrators, similar crimes have been committed by US allies in Oman and Bahrain and by the US client regime in Iraq without even any public condemnation by Washington, let alone the organization of an international campaign for military intervention.

The US-European posture of humanitarian outrage has no credibility

Until a few weeks ago, these powers were openly paying court to Gaddafi to obtain lucrative contracts for the exploitation of the oil and gas resources of Libya. They paid no heed then to Gaddafi’s police state and the brutalities that were going on in the Libyan torture chambers.  It also continues to back the regimes in Bahrain and Yemen as they scythe down protesters demanding democratic rights. The US and its cronies are silent on the atrocities meted out to the people of Kuwait or Saudi Arabia or Bahrain who are also fighting to overthrow their dictatorial rulers. This is simply because the ruling regimes in these countries are declared puppets of US. As for Egypt and Tunisia, the imperialists are pulling every string they can to get the masses off the streets. There was no talk of US intervention to ‘help’ the Palestinian people of Gaza when thousands died from being blockaded, bombed and invaded by Israel. To the contrary, the U.S. intervened to prevent condemnation of the Zionist settler state of Israel. These same forces were criminally silent and thereby complicit on the use of chemical weapons on the people of Tamil Eelam by the fascist Rajapakshey government of Sri Lanka. Since 1945, the US has destroyed or subverted more than 50 governments, many of them democracies, and used mass murderers like Suharto, Mobutu and Pinochet to dominate by proxy. In the Arab world, every dictatorship and monarchy has been sustained by America.

Desert Storm in the Arab World: Faultlines of a Worldwide Economic Tyranny

The revolt in the Arab world is not merely against a resident dictator but a worldwide economic tyranny designed by the US Treasury and imposed by the US Agency for International Development, the IMF and World Bank, which have ensured that even relatively rich countries like Egypt are pauperised, with half the population earning less than $2 a day. From Tunisia in January 2011 the desert storm of people’s upsurge had set across the entire Arab world. From

Revolutionary Democratic Front condemns the ongoing military assault on the people of Libya by the French, American and British imperialist powers. RDF hails the people’s upsurges in the Arab world and expresses its full solidarity with the struggling people who are fighting tooth and nail the mighty forces of imperialism and the feudal/monarchic ruling elites who have lived the time and space that Post-World War II imperialist arrangements have provided them. Down with US led imperialist military intervention. It is the people of Libya who must have the right to shape their future.

Communist Party of the Philippines

CPP denounces US-led war against LibyaMarch 20, 2011

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today denounced the US-led coalition of imperialist forces for launching missile attacks against the people and government of Libya, calling it "a barefaced act of armed intervention against a sovereign nation."
Following a resolution by the UN Security Council to enforce a "no-fly zone" over Libyan airspace, imperialist countries such as the United Kingdom, France and the US launched rockets into Libya with the aim of crippling the military strength of the Libyan government of Mohamar Gadaffi. The attacks were carried out against the Libyan government in an effort to help the US-supported armed rebels which launched armed uprisings in the last weeks of February.
"The imperialists are arrogantly imposing their will against a government that has stood for their people's right to self-determination," said the CPP.
"The Gadaffi government has long been a target of US attacks since the early 1980s," the CPP pointed out. In 1982, the US imposed an economic embargo against Libya in an effort to force the overthrow of the government. This was followed by an assassination attampt against Gadaffi in 1984 and the aerial bombing of the cities of Tripoli and Benghazi in 1986. Economic sanctions were further imposed by the UN in 1992 and were eased only around 2004 after Libya complied with UN conditions regarding arms control and the surrender of suspects in the 1997 bombing of a commercial plane over Scotland.
"The US imperialists have long wanted to overthrow the Gadaffi government since it carried out the nationalization of banks and the oil industry," said the CPP. "The Gadaffi government has steadfastly stood against the imperialist policy of neoliberal globalization and has carried out populist policies ensuring the welfare of the Libyan people."
The CPP denounced the "hypocrisy" of US President Obama "who is now launching a large-scale war following mere declarations of 'no-mercy' by the anti-US Gadaffi. Yet, Obama and his imperialist coterie never lifted a finger in January even after their Egyptian puppet Mubarrak attacked peaceful demonstrators with armed thugs and state police personnel."
"The armed attacks against Libya are bound to blow up in the face of the US-led imperialists forces," said the CPP. "The US-led bombing of Libya can only succeed in inflaming the patriotic aspirations of the Libyan people and will militate them into uniting to defend their country's right to self-determination."
"Majority of the American people will not accept another interventionist war," said the CPP. "Like their wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, the US-led imperialists are risking involvement in another protracted war of intervention that they can never win."

Bahrain authorities out of control as violence continues

Tahrir Square
in Egypt to the city of Benghazi in Libya, to Algeria, Bahrain, Sudan, massive protests shook the dictatorial, corrupt regimes most of which are mere stooges of US imperialism. Although the corporate and imperialist media too are forced to talk about these massive protests and their attempts to overhaul the ruling regimes in Tunisia and Egypt; the anti-imperialist, anti-neoliberal ethos of these protests are being carefully made inconspicuous and the uprisings are only attributed to the misrule and rampant corruption of the head of states. These protests with their anti-imperialist character, secular overtones and overwhelming participation of women demolished all the vulgar stereotypes of the Muslim world trumpeted by the propaganda machinery of the so-called ‘war against terror’. These mass upsurges in the Arab world have shaken imperialism in and out. They are shaken by the spread of the protests and at the same time are clueless about the road ahead in the region. The military intervention in Libya once again reflects the desperation of the US led imperialist war machine as they have run out of all other solutions.
