St. Patrick’s Day March and Occupy Wichita

Yesterday Occupy Wichita was in the local St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This was a great idea for publicity. There was a large crowd of people in the Delano district where the parade took place. We carried a large snake to represent the corporate snakes we wanted to drive out of town and the US.
Many of the children spectators loved the giant green felt snake, which was about 10 feet long and eight inches around. It had a huge head. Although the children probably didn’t get the symbolism, they loved the snake. “Hey bring the snake over here;” and “That’s the biggest snake I’ve ever seen.” Some children said.
This was one more way of getting our message out and letting people know we where here.
We got a lot of cheers from the bystanders. We also got some boos from a few groups of people and a few guys said “long live capitalism.” That last chant proves they know who are enemies are. Also taking part in the parade were the Peace and Social Justice Center.
