The Republican National Convention: Fred Phelps meets Occupy and Anarchists

From Wichita Peace and Freedom Party Examiner;

Kansas’ own Fred Phelps, possibly the most famous Kansas in modern times, took his crew to protest at the Republican National Convention.
He is used to being treated by kid gloves by anti-protesters most of the time. However the Anarchists at the RNC and the Occupy people where not so accommodating.
According to the Huffington Post anti-Republican protesters were marching from "Romneyville" toward the official protest zone set up by the city when they clashed with members of the Westboro Baptist Church, which had been protesting homosexuality. After about 20 minutes, the half-dozen Westboro church members retreated from the protest area under police escort.
According to Youtube videos the Westboro Baptist were harassed by Occupy members and nearly physically attacked by anarchists.
Tampa police said on its Twitter feed that officers separated the two groups for safety reasons. No one was arrested.
Fred Phelps and his bunch never miss a chance to protest. They picket funerals and they love to offend people by stepping on flags and such chants as “Thank God for dead soldiers.” It is not surprising that they get a less-than-warm welcome from their antics from time to time.
