Lately I have seen a lot of ads for the USO (United Service
Organizations). This
is not surprising. The latest are full of patriotic heart throbbing video bits.
The USO is a nonprofit
organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to United
States troops and their families. Since 1941, it has worked in partnership with
the Department of Defense (DOD), relying
heavily on private contributions and on funds, goods, and services from various
corporate and individual donors.
This is all coming out at a time when
the mainstream press is going “ga ga” over our returning troops or as they say
in the press and ads “our heroes.”
Therefore I decided we need this Frank
Zappa song. It says it all.
