Salute the painstaking efforts of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU(Ugrahan) and  Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union (PMKU) to imbibe revolutionary class consciousness in the peasantry and agricultural labourers with a massive conference in Bathinda. Tribute to the great grassroots work done by the 2 organizations. Arguably we do not witness such quality of work in the entire country.

The rally in Bathinda on May 16th will be one of the most significant revolutionary democratic campaigns in the whole nation and an example to the whole country. Preparatory meetings are being held in every nook and corner of Punjab, particularly in the Malwa belt. Its success will be a tribute to the countless mass based struggles by the organizations leading both the landed and the landless peasantry and the qualitative mass base they have built.  They chalked out programmes most appropriate to the concrete or given situation with meticulous planning. Above all issues will be elaborated in the very language of the people. In great detail the anti-people agenda of the state's agricultural policies will be covered like reasons for suicide, definiteness, unemployment, non-implementation of land reforms etc. It will ty to wedge the gap between the landed jat peasantry and the dalit agricultural labour. The revolutionary alternative will not be projected but even all general political issues will be touched in accordance with the consciousness of the people. The speakers will explain how illusions are created to the peasants by promising them jobs in the army or security forces and how the nationalism propagated by the ruling classes acted against them.

Most significantly the conference is staged by the revolutionary mass organizations of the landed jat peasantry and the dalit agricultural labour whose unity is major stepping stone for the agrarian revolutionary movement. This is what is true practice of revolutionary democracy and mass line. A meeting of close to around 1000 people was held in Dhoula village yesterday by the BKU(Ugrahan) and the PMKU. The speakers urged the peasantry to strengthen their own class mass organizations and have no faith or illusion sin the promises if any political party. In great depth they explained the bankruptcy of the political prevailing and its pro-rich anti-peasant agenda. They narrated how nothing fundamentally changed in the lives of the toiling masses after any election with no genuine democratic demand fulfilled by the rulers. They summed up the policies that led to indebtedness and suicides as well as unemployment. not implementing provisions in land ceilings act or 1./3rd of panchayat land for dalits, giving remunerative prices or waivers to farmers illiteracy, neglect of health ,inadequate electricity etc. Basically in the language of the people they summed up how semi-feudalism enslaved the peasantry and the agricultural labourers.

Significant that the leaders did not call for 'Boycott', 'NOTA' or for 'supporting candidates ' but encouraged the peasantry to lead struggles to combat the evils of the social order.
