JUAN MANUEL ANAGUARQUI has died at the age of 70 and the product of an illness; Taita
Manuel.
Indigenous, peasant, communist. Founder of the
Ecuarunari; from UCASAJ (Union of Peasant Organizations of San Juan),
later the Chimborazo Indigenous Movement, MICH ,
and from various peasant organizations in the provinces of Cañar, Tungurahua
and Cotopaxi .
In 1974 he joined the fight for land in Chunchi, in the community
of Toctesinin, where together with Lázaro Condo they were ambushed by a
combined force of the army and the police, who murdered Lázaro and seriously
injured Comrade Juan Manuel without this having happened. their will to fight
was curtailed.
Tireless, indomitable fighter, convinced of the inescapable
need to fight with weapons for the land.
Old wasteland wolf, burning thunder from the summit sun; amauta
and co-founder of the Communist Party of Ecuador- Sol Rojo; Organizer of
the first Marxist-Leninist-Maoist-Gonzalo thought peasant front in the
Chimborazo moors, in San Juan and Ballagán, his native land.
