Note - June 19, marks the 27th anniversary of the massacre of political prisoners and prisoners of war in Peruvian prisons Lurigancho, El Fronton and Callao. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Peru (PCP) in its Resolution "Day of Heroism" June 1986, stated among other things:
"(...) On June 18 of 1986 in El Fronton, Lurigancho and Callao, prisoners of war rose in rebellion against the new ongoing genocide after publicly denounce, before its own courts and authorities repeatedly, the carnage that the government and its armed forces were plotting; rebelled in defense of the revolution and their lives demanding twenty very fair and rational claims.
The nineteen, the reactionary government led by Alan García APRA after his grotesque farce manipulating the "Peace Commission", triggered the most obstinate and operating black extermination mobilizing the Army, Navy, Air Force and police forces under the Joint Command, consummated the most infamous genocide killing hundreds of guerrillas and children of the people prisoners of war, once again bathing in blood ardent popular. Drop on Alan Garcia, his Cabinet, the Joint Staff, the military and police the indelible shame that people do not forget and that only he punished!
The Guerrilla Army combatants, prisoners of war, peaking "right to rebel" fought heroically and tirelessly sealing, a landmark of heroism, courage and bravery that history saved as exemplary demonstration of heroic men's war is just capable of generating.
Thus, the June 19 stamped timeless as HEROISM DAY, the blood of these heroes and armed revolution bears fruit afire more, rising like quivering and inexhaustible flag monumental battle cry that summons the inevitable triumph.
The death glorious belligerent of these prisoners of war harbor with blood and poured and before it the Communists, fighters and children of the village, armed assume unwavering commitment to follow their shining example, to develop people's war to serve the world revolution until the unfading light of communism around the globe aposente under flags undefeated Marx, Lenin and Mao Zedong, the ever living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Glory to the fallen heroes, live the revolution! "
To commemorate the Day of Heroism and honor those heroes who died fighting in the Shining Trenches of Combat, below is Bond Rosana article entitled "Day of Heroism - How was the Resistance" published in the Brazilian newspaper "A Nova Democracy »http://www.anovademocracia.com.br/, No. 90 (June 2012). The Spanish translation is the responsibility of Long March towards Communism, Madrid, June 2013.
HEROISM DAY - HOW WAS THE RESISTANCE
Bond Rosana
The June 19, 1986 the fascist administration of Alan Garcia killed nearly 250 political prisoners of the Communist Party of Peru (PCP) in one of the bloodiest episodes of state terrorism committed in cáceles South America. From then until now the date is recollected by the PCP and the various revolutionary parties of the world as the Day of Heroism.
Indeed, the brave men and women imprisoned in the capital and surrounding (Lurigancho and Callao Fronton Island) deserve to be called heroes. Died singing. And fearlessly against the troops of the Army, Navy and Air Force, who attacked the three prisons as carnivorous beasts armed with demolition bombs, bazookas, grenades, gas and machine guns. Not to mention boats and helicopters, in the case of Fronton Island.
Communist militants, far from acting like lambs to the slaughter course, resisted to the end, despite the enormous disproportion of military force. In El Fronton, for example, the battle lasted nearly thirteen hours.
Details of this brave resistance, were published almost a year after the events in a book on the shelves now disappeared, the journalist Juan Cristobal. Its title is Have all died? (Lima, Newfoundland Editions, 1987)
It is not a work sympathetic to the PCP. This is just the work of a professional, as a Peruvian citizen, he was also wounded "in the darkest nights that had human rights in our country." An allusion convinced those 18, 19 and 20 June (dates respectively kill order given by Garcia, of the attacks themselves and the collection of bodies, all wrapped in filthy lies Administrator [government] of the military and their complicit media).
"We will resist"
Christopher's book, which is a compilation of various official notes (inclusive of the prisoners themselves) gives evidence and press reports monopolist starts showing that the PCP knew his comrades would be attacked at any moment.
Thus, the work presents a document entirely women's prison of Callao, dated June 7, so 12 days before slaughter. It militants denounced the existence of extermination government plans in prisons. At that time the communist prisoners were in a campaign against his transfer to the "modern" Canto Grande (Miguel Castro Castro), indeed a true slaughter and torture center.
"The political prisoners and prisoners of war, inmates in the concentration camp black Callao, become shining trench combat, we headed to our heroic fighting people and the public to report: this new reactionary government more hunger and more genocide, more demagogic and hypocritical, is deepening its genocidal plan against political prisoners, using different methods for their black targets.
(...) Let it be clear that we are prepared to resist and the blood that runs in Fronton, Lurigancho and Callao fall on (the back) of those hyenas killer "- women said document fragments now become a piece of history Peruvian revolutionary struggle.
Noting that "we are prepared to resist" were not empty words, it could be noted in the book of Christopher, looking information within the numerous and diverse texts compiled by the journalist who actually PCP prisoners prepared a creative resistance, using all what objects modest and confined situation allowed.
Reading all those details confess, however, I was not surprised.
For about a year before the attack was clandestinely Fronton Island, to do a story, and I saw the admirable ability to transform those awful prison lost in the Pacific (where broken glass and pieces of rats were seen mixed in food) in a "habitable".
Moreover, in a place where the revolution had its course through attitude.
An exemplary communist attitude that exercising organization, discipline, solidarity and patience (which in the story and in two later books, Sendero Luminoso: Fire in the Andes and Peru: the Inca Empire to cocaine empire, I defined as "patience Chinese '), led the group to establish there a reality Peruvian prisons opposite of that time. School studies literacy and political / economic, poetry and theater courses, library, kitchen, pharmacy, handicraft production and to production of books (written by hand). All created and directed by the prisoners. The kitchen itself, to prevent the glass and rats, strong tough conquest, since the acts of claim several companions were killed.
We return to the 1986 resistance
Bunker, Russian cheese tray
Foreseeing the fascist attack, prisoners began to prepare his defense.
For months drew knives, metal tipped spears, bows and arrows, artifacts to throw stones, Molotov cocktails and "Russian Cheese" (homemade plastic explosives, detonators activated). In Lurigancho, also created "bulletproof vests" dining trays made. In this way, one day before the invasion militarse seized a small number of staff hostage who removed some firearms (in the case of Fronton, three rifles and a pistol)
However, the most surprising decision that left gaping and furious troops of the Armed Forces, it was a reinforced concrete protection prisoners made by coating the inner walls of some rooms-bedrooms in Lurigancho and El Fronton, transforming them into real bunkers. On the island, some windows were also partially paved, converting pockets (holes through which the weapons are fired)
Here in El Fronton Additional PCP prisoners built underground compartment large enough to hold 150 people (which was the number of remaining political prisoners at that prison.) The subway was equipped with vents open to the sea.
How did you get cement?
In the book of Christopher are two versions. The first is that the material was introduced in Lurigancho and El Fronton hidden in sacks of food products carried by relatives prisoners gradually, in a system as "ants". the other version is that, in the island, the concrete was supplied by the authorities for the construction of bathrooms, in a deal with the prisoners, since (it appears) that the Government did not want to spend money with workers .
And how the bunkers were not discovered before?
The day of the bourgeoisie, in the book, screaming hysterical in their reporting and editorials accommodation Shining Path (the name used by them to refer to PCP) in prisons were not audited because the "terrorists" had absolute control on them.
"Long live the Revolution! »
The defense scheme implemented by the prisoners worked efficiently. To get into Lurigancho and El Fronton the military had to demolish most of the buildings.
The communist resistance fighters lasted long hours in Lurigancho and on the island. Until the reactionary troops, angry, sent for larger pumps for a second offense.
Until that moment her irritation had risen the most, mainly by the use of other weapons by prisoners, this psychological effect: the cries of "Long live the Revolution! "Whenever the guns did not affect reinforced concrete walls, and the chanting of party music and hymns.
No singing stopped for a minute. The voices were silenced when, after the emergence of new pumps and their very strong explosion, about 170 prisoners were captured alive and killed, one by one. In Lurigancho, according to the book, being already in the row of extermination, all continued singing until the last comrade received the cowardly shot in the head.
In Callao, the song ended up being the greatest weapon in resistance women's PCP. They could use another defense because the invasion was swift. The existence of a skylight provided service to the attackers, who dropped bombs from high gas and dominated the prisoners. However, a group of them seems to have resisted, as two were killed and five wounded.
If I said that defending fighters worked efficiently PCP was because, considered the attack strength and the great war machine used by fascist troops, about 50% of inmates and 76% Fronton de Lurigancho were protected by their defensive scheme and were alive when captured.
What I did not protect them was the barbarism of the murderers, Juan Cristobal defined as "unjustifiable actors of this military operation, which until today, and forever, will continue to produce as noble wounds suffered heart of our people."
