Today
is International Workers Day, May Day.
Many communist
and left-wing parties began celebrating this day, to commemorate the Haymarket
affair, which occurred in Chicago on May 4, 1886.
This
year the celebration came with groups that wanted to emphasis a day without
immigrants. From the Peace and Social Justice Center of Central Kansas:

We do protest in Kansas. We are not ever going to be intimidated by people with guns, no matter who they are. The right is starting to lose its grip here because it has become so far to the right and people are getting sick of stupid ideas. Their guns don't scare everyone.
