SALUTE THE PEOPLE OF PUNJAB BY CREATING THE IMPACT OF A TORNADO BY STORMING CITY OF CHANDIGARH TO PROTEST THE FASCIST ARREST OF INTELLECTUALS.THE CONTINGENT OF AROUND 12000 RESEMBLED AN ARMY .PROVES THAT THE INDIAN PEOPLE WILL NEVER TAKE FASCIST OPRESSION LYING DOWN AND THE FLAME OF RESISTANCE IS INEXTINGUISHABLE.HAIL THE DEATH DEFYING COURAGE OF ACTIVISTS IN CHANDIGARH TODAY SHIMMERING THE SACRED TORCH OF RESISTANCE WHICH SHOULD BLAZE ACROSS THE ENTIRE NATION TO EXTINGUISH THE MONSTER OF FASCISM.

Red salutes to protest rally of 45 democratic mass organizations in Chandigarh against fascist arrests of 5 activists namely Varavar Rao, Gautam Navlakha, Vernon Gonzalves, Arun Ferreira and Sudha Bharadawa -all crusaders for the liberation of the toiling people .,Protest resembled an ocean and the turbulence of a thunderstorm .Event will carve a permanent niche in the history of resistance against fascism.10000-12000 people attended .45 organizations participated representing peasants, workers, youth, students, women and government employees. History was written today in the glorious resistance against the tyranny of fascism. May the spirit of this rally blaze like a great fire all over the nation to extinguish fascism. The rally constituted 60% peasantry ,5 %Industrial employees and civil rights activists.,10% students and youth and 10%agricultural labourers. Speaks volumes of the great organizational effort or planning. Participating organization included the Bharatiya Kisan Union(Ugrahan). BKU(Dakaunda), Kirti Kisan Union and Punjab Kisan Union which represented the landed peasantry. The Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Pendu Mazdur Union and KPMU that represented the agricultural workers and the Punjab Students Union and the Naujwan Bhrat Sabha that represented the students and youth. Other organizations basically comprised of employees unions. Prominent speakers were Laxman Singh Sewewala of PMKU, Joginder Singh Ugran and Buta Singh Burgill of BKU factions, Raminder Singh of NBS Jagmohan Singh of Association for Democratic Rights.

Of great significance when the Indian nation is facing the concrete threat of fascism. Noteworthy was the manner and extent to which the working class and peasantry of Punjab understood the relationship of the arrests of democratic activists with the suppression of revolutionary democratic struggles of oppressed masses as a whole. Great class consciousness was displayed, particularly by the landed and landless peasantry. Speakers explained the fascist nature of Operation Green hunt and of the arrest of the political prisoners and summarized how the ruling BJP party banged every nail in the coffin to suppress legitimate struggles of every section of the toiling policy and promoted an economic model that denied the broad masses the basic requirements like food and shelter. A tribute to the great energy invested by the leaders and activists of the mass organizations. Most noteworthy that there was unity of all the working class, peasantry and youth sections and also the unity of mass organizations from different trends within the communist revolutionary camp. Tribute to the painstaking efforts and meticulous planning of the mass organization activists. It followed a spurt of joint protests in several districts of Punjab in the past weeks encompassing Bathinda, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, Muktsar, Mansa Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Faridkot. Significant was the enthusiasm of the students and youth and the unity of so many forces within the revolutionary camp with up to 200 people participating in certain protests.

The Police barricade intervened and ultimately blocked the rally which is an accurate reflection of the political orientation of the ruling classes. The faces of the participants of the rally reflected the aspiration s and anger of the oppressed masses of India as a whole.
