India- Punjab government bans the public rally in support of people of Kashmir

Punjab government bans the public rally in support of people of Kashmir. The public rally in solidarity with the people of Kashmir called by the Solidarity Committee for Kashmiri National Struggle, Punjab, scheduled to be held in Mohali on 15th September has been barred by the government of Punjab. On behalf of the Solidarity Committee, three leaders Jhanda Singh Jethuke, Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu and Lakhwinder Singh said that, as advised, they submitted requisite papers to the Mohali administration for approval of the scheduled public meeting. The government refused to give permission without any legal basis or any reasonable ground. Solidarity Committee feels that the Congress government of Punjab has shown that it is not far behind the BJP government in suppressing the rising voice in favor of the Kashmiri people. The Committee said that on the one hand, the Congress leaders are pretending to protest against the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A in Kashmir. Former Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, talked about going to Kashmir to learn first hand about the plight of people and the Chief Minister of the state, Capt Amarinder Singh, called August 5 a "black day" and gathered Kashmiri students to celebrate Eid. However, when the people of Punjab got together to raise their voices in support of the Kashmiri people, all hell broke loose. The Mohali public meeting ground was cordoned off by the police and a notice declining the permission was sent to the Committee. The Committee said that that these steps have shown that the Congress's opposition to the Kashmir issue is only a political stunt. In the first 70 years of its rule it oppressed the Kashmiri people, repeatedly revised Article 370 and crushed the Kashmiri nation's right to self-determination and now even the voice of Punjab is being suppressed ruthlessly. The leaders said that it is the basic democratic right of the people to raise their voice against the undemocratic and authoritarian regime. How can submitting a memorandum to the governor in the capital of his state be a threat to the peace and security of the people? Over the last few days, various farmers and workers organizations had organized large public gatherings in 12 places across Punjab. These large public meetings did not prove to be any kind of law and order challenge in any town. What is the basis for the administration to think that there will be a threat to law and order and public safety in Mohali? It is clear that the Congress government in the state, like the BJP government at the Centre, feels threatened by the support to Kashmiri people. Thousands of farmers and workers in Punjab have come out openly to oppose the highhandedness and undemocratic suppression of the rights of the people of Kashmir. The Committee said that the people of Kashmir should have the right to self-determination; Articles 370 and 35A should be upheld; Black Laws, including the PSA and AFSPA should be repealed; and a democratic environment must be created giving Kashmiri people the right to self determine. Thousands of people across Punjab have already raised their voices loudly and this voice cannot be suppressed. Already in Kashmir, by imposing all sanctions, the entire state has been turned into an open prison. This step of government of Punjab of suppressing the voice of people of Punjab will prove costly for the regimes. Anger is swelling up in the minds of people and it will manifest strongly. The Committee appeals to all democratic and public organizations of Punjab to raise their voice against this highhandedness of the Congress government.

Punjab Stands With Kashmir.
Thousands of peasants, workers, agriculture workers, students, youth and democratic people of Punjab protested all across Punjab in support of the Liberation struggle of people of Kashmir. 15 mass organisations called for a state level protest rally at Mohali( Punjab) and then protest march to submit a Demand Charter to the Governor of Punjab. Punjab Govt. imposed strict restrictions on the protest and deployed huge police force all over Punjab to snub the voice of people.
But the people of Punjab with their unsubmissive and rebellious spirit, defied the restrictions of Punjab Govt. and came out on the roads in thousands. There are reports of 12 huge traffic jams across Punjab by the protesting people. These people announced their unconditional support for the libration struggle of Kashmiri people, and demanded that the abrogation of article 370 and 35a by Indian Govt. should be revoked. They also declared that the right to self determination of their fate is the birth-right of the Kashmiri people and the struggling masses of Punjab will always stand with them. -Manpreet Jas

PUNJAB MASSES HEROICALLY RESIST FASCISM LIKE MANY STREAMS OF LIGHT SHIMMERING JUSTICE. Salute the heroic protest of the people of Punjab against the tyranny of fascism in Kashmir and the fascist prohibition of rally in Chandigarh which proves the neo- fascist nature of Congress govt and how it blesses or morally endorses Hindutva fascism. The protest represents a truly democratic revolutionary mass character and an example to the people of the whole world. No where in the country can anybody witness such revolutionary resistance against the oppression in Kashmir. Great credit should be given to the base of revolutionary democratic movement .snd practice of massline.Resembles several army batallion riding like Phoenix from the Ashes or from the depths of despair to valiantly fight the enemy.Rage of a tornado. Illuminating the flame of liberation in every corner of Punjab like a spark turning into a Prairie fire.-Harsh Thakor
