The Empire spreads thin

Not long ago a Republican candidate for the US presidency made the statement that “The (troop) surge is working” when asked about the war in Iraq. Many Americans are concerned about not only this escalation in Iraq, but violence in a strategic ally, Pakistan and a new troop surge (the term surge is being avoided in this election year) in Afghanistan.
As to the present surge’s socalled success we have from:

The Wichita Eagle, Jan. 10, 2008:
“Militants kill 9 U.S. soldiers in offensive Eagle news services ARAB HAMADAH, Iraq - In one of the deadliest stretches for U.S. troops in months, militants killed nine soldiers in the volatile Sunni Arab heartlands north of Baghdad as the military launched its third offensive in a year to dislodge Sunni guerrillas from sanctuaries deep within the lush farmlands and palm groves of Diyala province. Six of the U.S. soldiers were killed Wednesday at an unspecified location in Diyala in part of the offensive when insurgents detonated a large bomb hidden inside a house. Four other soldiers were wounded, and an Iraqi interpreter was killed. The military did not release further information, but in Diyala, northeast of Baghdad, house bombs have long been a staple weapon for Sunni fighters who try to lure soldiers inside booby-trapped buildings. Another house rigged to explode was discovered in the Diyala village of Khan Bani Saad on Sunday and destroyed when warplanes leveled it with bombs.”
Why is there a sudden escalation o f fighting if we are supposed to be winning this war. Not only that, but the US is not even able to hold its original colony.
“Welcomes U.S. Troop Surge ABC News Learned that the Pentagon to Send 3,000 Additional Troops to Afghanistan U.S. Marines prepare to board a C-17 transport airplane at the Kandahar airport in Afghanistan on Sunday Jan. 20, 2002. (Dario Lopez-Mills/ AP Photo ) Defense officials aren't calling it a surge, but it sure looks like one. The Pentagon is poised to send more than 3,000 additional troops to Afghanistan -- all of them Marines, ABC News learned Wednesday. The plan is a sign that things are not going well in Afghanistan. Commanders say they simply do not have enough troops to deal with the increased threat. “

So even in President George Bush’s jewel puppet government of conquest US troops can’t hold that phony government together. So far none of the presidential candidates are calling for a withdrawal from these conquered territories. They keep talking about an “exit strategy” which simply means bringing the troops home faster, by securing our colonial gains. That means this issue of taking over the Middle-east and trying to “Americanize it” has not really been, nor will it be an issue in this fall’s campaign.

The candidates will no doubt, avoid the war issue as much as possible and focus on the economy, which for the Democratic Party is their safest bet. The only advantage to seeing the idiot Bush finally out of the office of president will be to remove one of the United States of America’s dumbest president’s. A recent example of just how stupid his is:

"Bush: World must unite against Iran's threats
BY DION NISSENBAUM
McClatchy Newspapers
JERUSALEM - President Bush began a weeklong Middle East mission Wednesday by denouncing Iran as a threat to world peace and pledging to shore up flagging Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
Three days after Iranian speedboats threatened a U.S. Navy convoy in the Strait of Hormuz, Bush joined Israeli leaders in issuing a stern warning to the Middle East nation.
"Iran was a threat, Iran is a threat and Iran will be a threat if the international community does not come together and prevent that nation from the development of the know-how to build a nuclear weapon," the president said after a 2 ½-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and key members of his coalition government.
On the opening day of his first official visit to Israel, Bush vowed to "nudge" Israelis and Palestinians into progress. He called on Olmert to remove scores of illegal Jewish outposts in the predominantly Palestinian West Bank and warned Palestinian leaders that they'd have to gain control of militants in Gaza before a peace deal ever takes hold. Illegal outposts, Bush said, "ought to go."
