Human trash?

"Chavs," "Trailer Trash," "Yobos" or "Bogans," All are a description of a class of people in the US, England and Australia that refers to the lower classes. If they are working full time, they are simply poor proletariats. If they are under-employed or unemployed and living off some type of welfare, they may be members of what we Marxist call the Lumpin Proletariat.

First let me say that I hate the term "human trash" and I've heard it from Marxists. If they are talking about leaders, such a George Bush or Richard Nixon, that's entirely different. But there are many people who have fallen through the cracks in our society, for one reason another and if they are poor and powerless, calling them "human trash" is a trait of the right and I strongly resent when a person on the left makes such generalizations.

I'm not saying there are wife no beaters, people who mug old folks for easy money, ect, that do deserve to be labeled "trash." But those people earned the title. Lumping them together with other people who may be dealing with alcoholism, drug addiction of who are mentally unbalanced don't deserve to be lumped together with common thugs under a label such as "human trash." And as far as I'm concerned, lumping such low life criminals with the lumpin proletariat is just as bad.

Prostitutes are often poor women who can't find the kind of job that allows them to feed and care for their children. Many small time drug dealers use their trade to feed their own drug habit or they make about minimum wage.



Sure, there are drug dealers making big money out there, but they are not the people you see on the corner hawking drugs. Getting busted is for the little people and the big time dealers are hidden away out of site and out of the police's (often bribed ) mind.



There are also those on public assistance. After a while they gain a sense of learned helplessness. Sometimes they pass it off to their children. A friend of mine who works with social services for the poor said they learn all about the customs and cultural expectations of minorities, but they leave out "white trash" who also live in ghettos.

After all, where did the term "trailer trash" come from.

For years I read letters to the editor about the "bums on welfare" or the "beer swilling bums that watch TV all day at the taxpayer's expense." Another cliché' "half the countries on welfare and the other half pays for it."

These were comments from the idiot right-wingers who probably never actually met any of these "welfare bums."

There are a lot of reason people fall through the cracks to become part of the Lumpin Proletariat. Some bring it on themselves, many others do not. It is a complex problem as many of these people are uneducated.

One last thing is that I hate judging people solely by their contributions (that usually means money or jobs) to society as a measure of their wealth. Donald Trump is a $multi-millionaire who gives little (about 3%) to charity. He employs a lot of people but Ted Turner, who is also filthy rich gives about half his money to charitable organizations. As far as I'm concerned Trump is the "human trash" and he earned the title. He works for his own selfish interest, is an egomaniac and he's self absorbed. What's he really done for anyone? His workers surely don't make as much as they could.

Maybe it's the corporate assholes who need to justify their existence.
