Maoist insurgency makes the New York Times
The New York Times just ran an article on the Maoist insurgency and the planned government offensive:
“Maoist Rebels Widen Deadly Reach Across India
Keith Bedford for The New York Times
An Indian officer guarded a post in Barsur, in ChattisgarhState, where Maoists dominate thousands of square miles of territory.
BARSUR, India — At the edge of the IndravatiRiver, hundreds of miles from the nearest international border, India effectively ends. Indian paramilitary officers point machine guns across the water. The dense jungles and mountains on the other side belong to Maoist rebels dedicated to overthrowing the government.”
