Despite every effort by determined anti-abortion groups (pro-life), Dr. Mila Means still plans to open a clinic here in Wichita and plans to offer only early-term abortions. She would like to open her clinic in 12 to 18 months.
Even though she has been harassed by politicians passing new restrictions on abortionand anti-abortion groups pickets and harass her,she still plans to go ahead with here plans to provide abortions in Wichita.
According to The Wichita Eagle, Means was raised in a family that considered abortion an accepted, reasonable idea. Her schoolteacher parents, social activists in the 1960s, instilled that attitude early in her life.
he Eagle also said she plans to form a non-profit group to raise $800,000 to $1 million to buy and equip a clinic. She said she felt there was a need for abortion services ever since Dr. George Tiller was shot to death by Scott Roeder in May 2009.
Means has been on The Rachel Maddow Show, discussing all the harassment she has faced since she announced she was planning to open a clinic in Wichita. Means is also being sued by her landlord to prevent her from providing abortions in her present medical offices.
One thing remains for sure. Means plans to perform abortions in Wichita. She believes it is the right thing to do and she is determined to do it.
