Over 45 Countries Ask Cuba for Interferon to Treat Covid-19- The US interferes

It is interesting that countries around the world have learned to appreciate Cuba. Over the last few years Cuba has had a heavy focus on providing doctors and health care to its own people. About a year ago I heard a political activist say “In Cuba we send doctors around the world. The US sends soldiers.”

I have to agree that sending doctors to other countries is far better than sending soldiers and killer drones. All that military might is used to kill those people who won’t bend the will of the US. The doctors help various countries (mostly in Latin America) provide for the health of their own people.

President Donald Trump has been trying to stop the Cuban doctors. At one point he accused Cuba of “slavery” claiming the doctors were being sent against their will. Trump has made all kinds of ludicrous excuses as to why the US still tries to strangle Cuba with sanctions. The US is onece again one of the few countries in the world that tries to keep its citizens from visiting Cuba. I was able to go there, last summer, by traveling on a Mexican Airplane. I could not have gone on a US plane because they are banned from going to Cuba. It amazes me that the US accuses Cuba of denying its citizens their basic rights, but this country denies its citizens the right to travel to Cuba. –SJ Otto

Interferon is produced by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), a Cuban institution that enjoys prestige in the international scientific community.

Created in the 1980s, this drug has been used in cases of acute respiratory conditions and viral infections such as hepatitis B and C, shingles, and HIV/AIDS.

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla denounced the claims by the U.S. government about Cuban medical collaboration in the countries affected by Covid-19.

In an official statement, the Cuban government representative stated that Washington's hostility towards his country cannot affect Cuban solidarity with nations in need.

On his official Twitter account, Parrilla denounced the U.S. allegations about Cuba's reasons for providing medical aid and medicines. According to the Cuban Foreign Minister, these statements show the little credibility of the U.S. government. He also qualifies this as inhumane as the permanence of the blockade during the exceptional situation due to the virus spreading.
