Trump might go- he was just plain obnoxious and some of us hated him

November 3 was Election Day here in the US. A lot of Maoists don't bother to vote or take part in elections. They don't see any real difference between the bourgeoisie candidates. They also see voting as a way of endorsing the capitalist system. So they don't campaign, vote or participate in any way, in an election.

I generally don't cover elections that closely here because of the lack of interest in most of our readers. However I did decide to write about this year's election. Our present day president is Donald Trump. This country has produced its share of imperialist war mongers and right-wing authoritarians for the capitalist system. Some examples include Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush and now we have the one and only Trump. That is not to say the Democrats are not imperialist authoritarians. My parents were big fans of John Kennedy. For a time I thought he was a good president. Finally I realized that all he really did, besides launching the Moon landing project, was to go around the world attacking communism. He was a Catholic and the first and only president to belong to that religion. I used to belong to that religion as well as my parents. Today I am not a Catholic, while my parents who were, all the way until they died. As for his anticommunist ranting, I would rather do without that. After Kennedy was Lyndon Johnson. He passed civil rights legislation and programs to help poor people. That all sounds good but he was also a cold warrior. He built up the Vietnam War and invaded Dominican Republic. He did that to prevent communist sympathizers from getting something out of the uprising there.

Then there were presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. To their credit they didn’t do a lot and that was a good thing from my standpoint. It is not that they didn’t support our capitalist system or our imperialist foreign policy. And Carter did support human rights in a few Latin American Countries. But they just weren’t as aggressive as the other presidents I mentioned. Then there was George H W Bush. He was an imperialist and war monger also. But that Bush was just simply less obnoxious. He seemed like a nice guy. He was still politically bad, but he just seemed nicer

So from a Maoist point of view, there seems to be little to gain from Joe Biden winning the election. The only advantage is that Trump was extremely obnoxious. He constantly attack all factions of the left, including left of center politicians. Under Barack Obama, there was a thaw in the US and Cuba relations. That could happen under Biden, but he hasn’t promised us that. Trump has shown extreme hostility to Cuba. To put things in plain English some of us just plain hated Trump. He was far to the right, authoritarian and he was real obnoxious. I hated him and it looks like he will be gone. Biden is not a big change. He doesn’t promise to do much of anything that we want done. The only advantage is that he is less obnoxious.
