US tradition—It’s another Halloween/ Samhain

I like celebrating our traditional holidays if they have historical significance. Many of our holidays, Christmas, Easter and Halloween, have been celebrated as Christian holidays. But they were also celebrated before Christianity when pre-Christian religions where practiced all across Europe. Halloween used to be called Samhain, by Druids and the Wicca religions. On this Samhain (this hyperlink goes to Circle Sanctuary, for a really good look at this holiday and its history) day of celebration it was both a holiday to celebrate the end of the harvest season and it was also a time when people believed spirits could come back to Earth. To prevent being harassed by evil spirits people put out jack-o'-lanterns and dressed in scary outfits with scary masks to scare away the demonic spirits. Pumpkins were not known to the old world back then, so turnips and other vegetables were carved instead.

Here are a few songs to go along with this Holiday:

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead (Original)

This is Halloween - The Nightmare before Christmas

Ramones - Pet Sematary

USA- Kansas City Maoists were an embarrassment to the MLM cause

By Steve Otto
Last Sunday I attended a Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) meeting, in Wichita, Kansas. I usually don’t post articles about such meetings here at this blog because most of our readers have no interest in DSA. Some of our readers dislike DSA very much. So such news doesn’t make it to these pages.
However last week I was unhappy to learn that a DSA related organization, that sets up pen pals for people in prison, was disrupted by a local group of Maoists. This incident took place in Kansas CityMissouri. The DSA people, who were present, invited the Maoists, who were wearing ski masks, to take the microphone and address the crowd. They refused. Instead they physically attacked the people in attendance. They grabbed DSA pamphlets and threw them all over the floor. They disrupted the meeting in general. They physically beat up a World War II veteran who was invited to the meeting. He had to have stitches (actually staples) on his head.
I don’t object to militant actions. I don’t object to confronting people of different factions and political ideals. But these actions looked mindless and juvenile. No attempt was made to influence anyone’s ideas or beliefs. There was no discussion or explanations as to what or why this action took place. As a Maoist I was unable to explain to any of the DSA members as to why such actions were taken by this group. There is at least one Maoist organization that I am aware of in Kansas City. There may be more than that. I don’t know if these Maoists were from that organization. As far as I know the Maoists left no pamphlets of their own. Without any propaganda or promotions of the group’s goals, this was just mindless stupidity. I’m fairly opened minded about Maoist groups and I usually don’t criticize other organization's tactics, but this group is an embarrassment to Maoist all over.
These Maoists need some serious self criticism. They are not helping the Maoist cause.

CONDEMN THE LIFE SENTENCE ON PEASANT LEADER MANJIT WHOSE FABRICATION IS A PERFECT ILLUSTRATION OF HOW OUR SO-CALLED LIBERAL DEMOCRACY IS REALLY NEO-FASCIST

By Harsh Thakor
CONDEMN WITH ALL OUR MIGHT THE LIFE SENTENCE ON PEASANT LEADER MANJIT WHOSE FABRICATION IS A PERFECT ILLUSTRATION OF HOW OUR SO-CALLED LIBERAL DEMOCRACY IS MORALLY A NEO-FASCIST SOCIAL ORDER.DHANER SALUTE THE DETERMINED RESISTANCE OF THE PEASANTRY AND ALL OTHER STRUGGLING SECTIONS TO BRING JUSTICE TO MANJEET DHANER.REMINISCENT OF AN INEXTINGUISHABLE FLAME AND THE SPIRIT OF A GREAT ARMY.OVER 12000 PEOPLE AT THE HEIGHT OF STRUGGLE PARTICIPATED.GREAT TO WITNESS THE MASSES OF PUNJAB WITHSTAND THE RULING CLASSES WITH SUCH TENACITY WHICH REVEALS THEIR POTENTIAL TO FIGHT THE ENEMY AT ITS STRONGEST POINT.

The movement for the release of Peasant leader Manjit Singh Dhaner is the event of the greatest mass political significance in state of Punjab today creating the impact reminiscent of a ripple in a stream turning into a tidal wave. No judgment by the Court so perfectly illustrates how ne-fascist is the so called liberal democracy. morally. and how all democratic institutions are mere appendages of the ruling classes. A great organized movement has sprung up all over Punjab in solidarity shimmering the torch of resistance for justice.

A joint committee of 9 organizations held a heroic protest outside Barnala jail on October 22nd demanding the release of Manjit Singh Dhaner who has been framed by the govt. for murder. An event of great revolutionary democratic significance for the whole country symbolizing the neo-fascist nature of the rulers. Very admirable and resolute determination displayed by the Punjab Students Union and Naujwan Bharat Sabha yesterday proving the effectiveness and impact of students and youth in political struggles.Of great significance was the contribution of the Punjab Students Union and Naujwan Bharat Sabha supporting the trend of the C.P.I.(M.L.) New Democracy.

Great preparation was undertaken by several sections of the revolutionary camp like the Bharatiya Kisan Union(Ugrahan), the Bharatiya Kisan Union(Dakaunda), the Punjab Students Union, Naujawan Bharat Sabha and the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union. A red flame literally burnt in the hearts of the peasantry in all the preparatory meetings.Meticuluos work was also done to spread the message amongst rural students in schools and colleges. The propaganda work of the BKU (Ugrahan) played a major role in building the base of the organized protest.

Earlier last month, for 5 consecutive days the grain market in Patiala turned into an Ocean shimmering the torch of justice against the life sentence on peasant leader Manjit Dhaner. The Punjab govt. awarded a life sentence on the peasant leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Dakaunda) on grounds of raping Kiranjeet Kaur. It was a spectacle witnessing the fury of all sections of society in Punjab -industrial workers, peasants, students and youth assembled who are till this day determined to take the struggle to the end.The sentence is as good as convicting any mass peasant leader and morally an attack on the peasant community as a whole .Notable participation from virtually all section sof the democratic revolutionary camp in Punjab like the Bharatiya KIsan Union (Ugrahan), the Bhartiya Kisan Union(Dakaunda), the Punjab Students Union (Shaeed Randhawa),Punjab Students Union, Naujwan Bharat Sabha,Kirti Kisan Union,Technical services Union etc. The unity of such forces had great significance to the overall building of the democratic revolutionary movement in Punjab. On the first day of the protest the authorities prevented the agitators from assembling at the decided venue in Patiala so they collected like a huge army at the Bathinda-Zirakpur national highway and launched a prolonged jam.,creating the impact of a torrent and resilience of a boulder in defying the authorities. The denial of permission by the state govt.for the rally is of political significance reflecting how threatened the administration felt. BKU (Dakaunda) leaders Jagmohan Singh and Buta Singh Burgill convenor of the Resistance Committee pledged that they will never yield till the govt. accepts the demands of the memorandum for the release of Dhaner. They felt the sentence was the equivalent of punishing the entire fraternity of the farming community. The capacity of the People of Punjab to display such great tenacity in such a struggle to hit the authorities at their strongest point was very encouraging.

Supreme Court Dismissed the Appeal of Manjit Dhaner Chandigarh :- Justice A.M Khanilvakar and Justice Dinesh Maheshvary of The Honorable supreme court have delivered their judgment on the appeal against the judgment of honorable Punjab And Haryana High Court’s decision of confirming the conviction of Manjeet Dhaner ,a leading figure of Action Committee Against much talked about gang rape and murder of Kiranjeet Kaur of Mehal Kalan. In their judgment honorable Supreme court has confirmed the judgment delivered by the honorable High court in the above mentioned case by rejecting Manjeet Dhaner’s appeal against his life imprisonment. In response to the verdict of the honorable court a spokesman of the action committee Mr Narain Dutt has said that it is not a just decision. The justice loving and democratic people of Mehal Kalan will continue their struggle to get justice. It is noteworthy that Mr Narain Dutt has been leading the struggle being fought on this issue for the past 22 years. He asserted that on July 29, 1997, Kiranjeet Kaur was abducted and murdered after gang rape when she was returning after having finished her daily studies at her college. Her dead body had been buried in the fields. The murderers who performed this heinous act were the sons of the notorious hooligans of the same village Mehal Kalan. They had full approach in political circles and powerful influence on police. That was why the police was targeting the innocent youth instead of nabbing the real culprits of Kiranjeet Kaur’s murder. However it was only after a prolonged mass struggle that the police had to arrest the real murderers of Kiranjeet Kaur and they were given exemplary punishments of life imprisonments. It was due to mass struggle that the guilty police officers were punished and their accomplices having political faces were exposed among the masses. Incidence, there occurred a clash between some people and Daleep Singh ,an old man belonging to the murderers of Kiranjeet Kaur in the court complex in Barnala. However the leaders of this action committee had nothing to do with this incident.Under a well thought out conspiracy 3 main leaders of the Action Committee, Narain Dutt, Manjeet Dhaner, and Prem Kumar were implicated in this murder case. The Honorable District Session Court ,ignoring the truth, in its verdict sentenced all the three leader for life imprisonment on 28-30 March, 2005. As a result of the vast mass movement the Governor had to pardon the punishment. Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected the pardon in the case of Manjeet Dhaner and reinstated his life   and acquitted the remaining two. An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court in this context. On the whole, the famous advocate Kamini Jaiswal presented the case appropriately. However, the recent verdict has placed a challenge before  us. (Statement of Jagmohan Singh, secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union-Dakaunda).

The US has revived the cold war in Latin America—Chile and Ecuador have left-wing protests now

Lately the US has been very supportive of people protesting their governments. After all protesters are fighting for democracy in such countries Hong Kong and Venezuela. Our governing leaders have all given full support to these protesters. They have vilified the governments they are protesting.
US meddling have had the backing of millions of conservative people all across the US. After weeks of hearing about theses protests from the media—it appears as if no one in the US would dare to oppose the protesters in these countries.
After almost a year of protests in Venezuela, in which the US has backed an opposition protest leader Juan Guaidó as that country’s president, it would seem as if left-wing governments are the only place where such protests have taken place.
Now after all this time, it seems that right-wing government are now under attack by protesters. Currently in Chile, the government of billionaire Sebastian Piñera has deployed the army to crush nationwide demonstrations against inequality sparked by a subway fare hike.
In Ecuador, indigenous peoples, workers and students recently brought the country to a standstill during 11 days of protests against the gutting of fuel subsidies by President Lenín Moreno as part of an IMF austerity package.
Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and the old-guard left around the world are celebrating Chile’s violent street protests as evidence of the alleged failure of free-market capitalism.
And is there any news coverage of Ecuador or Chile? So far I have heard nothing by the mainstream press. It is as if these protests never happened.
But there are some news outlets that have been paying attention to the way our mainstream press have treated those who protest right-wing governments. According to a news outlet called Fair:

Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, people are rising up against right-wing, US-backed governments and their neoliberal austerity policies.
One might expect these popular rebellions to receive unreservedly sympathetic coverage from international media that claim to be on the side of democracy and the common people. On the contrary, corporate journalists frequently describe these uprisings as dangerous alterations of “law and order,” laden with “violence,” “chaos” and “unrest.”
This portrait contrasts remarkably with coverage of anti-government protests in Venezuela, where generally the only violence highlighted is that allegedly perpetrated by the state. In the eyes of Western elite opinion, Venezuela’s middle-class opposition have long been leaders of a legitimate popular protest against an authoritarian, anti-American regime. Poor people rebelling against repressive US client states are considered an unacceptable deviation from this script.
‘Crackdown’ in Venezuela
Corporate journalists have never been able to contain their enthusiasm for the right-wing Venezuelan opposition’s repeated coup attempts, which are regularly cast as a “pro-democracy” movement (FAIR.org5/10/19).
In 2017, Venezuela’s opposition led four months of violent, insurrectionary protests demanding early presidential elections, resulting in over 125 deadincluding protesters, government supporters and bystanders. It was the opposition’s fifth major effort to oust the government by force since 2002.

Latin America today is like a replay of the old Cold War. On the side of the left are CubaVenezuelaBolivia and Nicaragua. Most of the other countries have had right wing government voted in over the last 10 years and they are all lackeys of the US. The CIA and other American institution worked hard to get left-wing government voted out in such countries as Ecuador. Changes in that country allowed the US to get Julian Assange turned over to them. That is because they got the people of that country to vote in Lenín Moreno, who replaced President Rafael Correa. Correa was not able to run having served two
terms and that is all that government allowed him. Correa was a left leaning politician who refused to send Assange back the USMoreno is the kind of leader the US wanted in Ecuador. As with the governments in Colombia and Chile, they are the perfect puppets of the US. They are obedient lackeys of US imperialism.
Already Bolivia’s President Evo Morales gave a press conference, recently, in which he warned that a right-wing coup attempt is being carried out so as to stop the full counting of votes, and annul the result of a recent presidential election, which gave Morales a first-round victory.
Considering the type of meddling the US has conducted in Venezuela, it is not a stretch of the imagination to believe the US is trying to overthrow Morales’ government. He is following the same kind of socialist policies as Maduro. Unlike Maduro he is very popular and his economy has been very successful. Considering the kind of anti-socialist meddling we have see from President Donald trump, it is likely we will see the same kind of absurd accusation against Morales as we have seen in Venezuela.
Trump and his ilk are working hard to eradicate socialism from Latin America. Trump has admitted that. It is unlikely to work in all of those countries. We have seen how ruthless and barbaric Trump is. He may have pulled US troops out of Syria to allow the Turkish government to destroy the PKK. Trump has admitted he thinks the PKK is worse than ISIS (the Islamic State).
So while much of the rest of the world has seen stodgy right-wing oriented governments pushing out any kind of left leaning governments, the left is still alive and well in Latin America. As leftist here in the US we need to keep supporting left leaning governments, such as CubaNicaraguaVenezuela and Bolivia, as well as supporting anti-right-wing protesters in Ecuador and Chile. Not all these governments are saints. The government of Daniel Ortega, in Nicaragua, may lack legitimacy. But we need to keep the US from interfering in that country. We need to support socialism and oppose US interference.

A reply to a troll who stole my space to promote his crap

From the article;

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l4Ev7ACWJWKaxGk9RMB2oMLefeA8ldgO/view

For some reason my blogging system refuses to let me post this as a comment under the two comments that were left. I don’t understand machines like this one and I have been extremely frustrated trying to use it. I would have preferred to just post this as a comment under the other two that were left at the end of the above article. The only way to post this seems to be to post it as a post. Blogspot is owned by Google and today their system sucks. I can’t believe this system is so screwed up. If I had known how bad blogspot is I would have looked for somewhere else to post these articles. So there is my reply:

I suppose there are those among us who consider me to be a liberal or anarchist. I do believe in Freedom of speech. I’m a stickler for it. I was in Cuba this summer and they do not value that freedom as I do.
It is for that reason I don’t just erase the comments of those who disagree with our writers. Most of the blogs I know won’t allow comments to be posted until they are checked out. Many of the blogsters I know will delete blogs if they are right wing trolls or jut plain obnoxious people.
I allow people to leave comments with out censorship or being pre-checked out. I have had trolls leave ridiculous rightwing comments that many Marxist would never tolerate. I do tolerate them because I fee it is more important to allow people to have freedom of speech than take the chance that they will be censored. I have had people call me and my people “faggots.” And when I reposted those comments on Facebook, to show the crudity I have endured I was censored by the folks at Facebook for posting comments I didn’t even really make. Supposedly I was posting comments that would offend people—but there weren’t my comments. When a person is dedicated to free speech this kind of thing seems to happen.
I have deleted comments that were pure insults without any political points. Even I have my limits. But lately I came across some left wing comments that where just as combative and troubling as right wing trolls. This latest commenter left a link to a PDF file called: “Marxist-Leninism vs. Maoism,” by Biswajit Basu. That is the name of the article and its author. But who posted it? Anonymous –that brave troller who is afraid to leave us any kind of name—not even a nom de guerre. That guy lacks imagination so he does not even give us a fake name. Apparently this brave individual felt it was important to go to a Maoist blog and attack its ideology. Dialectical Materialism vs. metaphysical Idealism was the headline kicker of this article.
For those of us who don’t fully understand what those big words really mean—it could also mean concrete realism vs. abstract idealism or concrete reality vs. ideas. Basu seems to be saying that Maoism is based more on the ideas or idealism of a dreamer rather than concrete realism. The kind of Marxist Leninism he champions is based on a scientific political system that lacks any need for challenges. In such a system there is no need for democracy or for political struggle in general.

This document is almost a whole book. Rather than taking it apart piece by piece, we can start from the point that we ARE Marxist-Leninists. That is how we started out. We are not vs. M-L, we have added to it. We consider our work as a vast improvement to M-L. We did not demolish it, we added to it. There are examples of working M-L governments such as Cuba. It works just fine. But Maoism leads to more democracy. People under Maoism take a greater role in their government. Let’s look at Communist Party of India (Maoists) and their view on Maoism, as seen through there site Banned Thought:

New, Third and Higher Stage of Marxism
Mao Tsetung elaborated many theses on a whole series of vital questions of revolution. But Maoism is not just the sum total of Mao's great contributions. It is the comprehensive and all-round development of Marxism-Leninism to a new and higher stage. Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is an integral whole; it is the ideology of the proletariat synthesized and developed to new stages, from Marxism to Marxism-Leninism to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, by Karl Marx, V.I. Lenin (Влади́мир Ильи́ч Ленин) and Mao Tsetung (毛泽东), on the basis of the experience of the proletariat and mankind in class struggle, the struggle for production and scientific experiment. It is the invincible weapon which enables the proletariat to understand the world and change it through revolution. Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is a universally applicable, living and scientific ideology, constantly developing and being further enriched through its application in making revolution as well as through the advance of human knowledge generally. Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is the enemy of all forms of revisionism and dogmatism. It is all-powerful because it is true.

This is all just basic Maoism. It explains the essence between Maoism and those who are Marxist-Leninist,  but reject such Maoism as it has moved the Marxist left to the next level.
As for Soviet Socialism, I have never been a proponent to that kind of Marxism. As that system fell, I now realize they contributed much to third world leftism. I have written on the collapse of Soviet Socialism;

Are we really better off without a Cold War? Part 1,

Are we really better off without a Cold War? Part 2.

SALUTE THE LEFT AND COMMUNIST REVOLUTIONARY FORCES FOR ILLUMINATING THE BANNER OF LIBERATION AGAINST FASCISM IN KASHMIR

SALUTE THE LEFT AND COMMUNIST REVOLUTIONARY FORCES FOR ILLUMINATING THE BANNER OF LIBERATION AGAINST FASCISM IN KASHMIR. FOUR CONFERENCES WERE SUCCESSFULLY STAGED OF GREAT QUALITATIVE SIGNIFICANCE IN PATIALA, AMRITSAR, MOGA AND JALANDHAR MOBILISING ALL SECTIONS OF THE PEOPLE.SPEAKERS. VOCIFEROUSLY CONDEMNED SCRAPPING OF ACTS 370 AND 35 A AND SUPPRESSING RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION OF KASHMIRI PEOPLE.

By Harsh Thakor
Front Against Fascist Attacks on Kashmiri People held four conferences in Moga,Patiala, Amritasr and Jalandhar. demanding withdrawal of all armed forces and para military forces from Kashmir, withdrawal of recent enactments repealing Art 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution and restoring communication and democratic rights of the people of Kashmir and withdrawal of all oppressive measures adopted by the Govt against Kashmiri people, release of all political prisoners and to re-establish the Provincial status of J&K.

Front Against the Fascist Attacks on the Kashmiri People has been launched in Punjab. Almost all the left and democratic and revolutionary forces and individuals constitute this front.

On behalf of this, front four regional conferences were organized in Punjab in in solidarity with the kashmiri people. The second conference was held on 14th of October at Patiala district headquarter. The first conference and protest march was held at Moga on 12th of October. The 3rd conference was held in Amritsar on October 15th and the fourth and final one at Jalandhar on October 16th.

The leaders of the various democratic and revolutionary organisations will be addressed these conferences. This front was constituted by Communist Party of India, Punjab Revolutionary Marxist Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (New Democracy) Revolutionary Peoples Front (Inqlabi Lok Morcha), Punjab, Revolutionary Centre (Inqlabi Kendra), Punjab, Revolutionary Democratic Front (Inqlabi Jamhuri Morcha) Punjab, Communist Party of India (Liberation), Lok Sangram Manch, Punjab and MCPI(Marxist Communist Party of India (United)
Marxist Communist Party of India)
 (United) MCPI(United).

The conferences had considerable qualitative impact in raising the consciousness of the broad masses on the fascist assault on the Kashmiri people by the Indian govt. with around 2000 peope gathering representing all the sections of people be it industrial working class, peasantry, students, youth, women and govt .employees. The unity of so many democratic organizations was of great significance not only in opposing the tyranny unleashed on the people of Kashmir but on confronting fascism as a whole.

However there was a political weakness in the stand of the left parties like Communist Party of India and MCPI who did not uphold the aspect of the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people in their stand and merely condemned the repealing of laws 370 and 35, In my view thus it was flaw of the Communist revolutionary forces to unite forces of the Orthodox left parties in such a front. Significant that Lok Morcha Punjab was not part of this event as a clear demarcation line was not made on issue of self determination.

Neverthless it proved the striking capacity of the people of Punjab to challenge the opression in Kashmir.

India- THE MAOIST COMMUNIST CENTRE CELEBRATES ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY

By Harsh Thakor
HAIL THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE MAOIST COMMUNIST CENTRE WHICH CELEBRATES ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY ON OCTOBER 20TH .A PERCURSOR OF THE UNIFIED COMMUNIST PARTY INDIA (MAOIST) (AKA C.P.I.(M), WITH SOUNDER THEORY AND PRACTICE THAN 1969 C.P.I.(M.L.) AND A TIGHTER PRACTICE THAN THE ERSTWHILE C.P.I.(M.L.) PEOPLES WAR. NO ORGANIZATION MADE SUCH A CONTRIBUTION TO BUILDING REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT IN BIHAR.LET US DIP OUR BLOOD IN MEMORY OF PIONEERS KANHAI CHATERJEE,AMULYA SEN AND CHANDRASHEKAR DAS.

On October 20th we will be commemorating 50th birthday of the erstwhile Maoist Communist Centre which is a historic landmark being one of the most defining moments in the history of the Communist Movement. Although not joining the Communist Party India (Marxist Leninist) in 1969 it lit the spark for the prairie fire of the later armed struggle in Bihar and the formation of the Unified C.P.I.(Maoist) in 2004.Few parties ever in history defended the flame of Maoism so resolutely like a boulder resisting a storm. For 35 years it virtually stood on its own legs which was remarkable. Whatever serious errors or sectarian trends it heroically waged an armed struggle and with dialectical precision maintained secret party structure .With the C.P.I.(M.L.)Peoples War ,the MCCI is the precursor of the historic C.P.I.(Maoist) formed in 2004,making a contribution at an equal footing.
It had a more dialectical analysis on agrarian revolution than even C.P.I.(M.L) on aspect of agrarian revolution and building mass organizations. Arguably ,classically it emulated the Chinese Communist party led by Chairman Mao even more than the C.P.I.(M.L.) of 1969 in building Red army corpses or tightness of party organization .or even the erstwhile C.P.I.(M.L.) Peoples War group later. No organization contributed so much to building revolutionary movement in Bihar. MCC displayed the mobility of fish swimming in water ,with the methodology of an architect and the creativity of an artist. With surgical precision and dialectical mastery it launched armed actions to enhance the striking capacity of the masses and spread itself from one area to the other. It’s growth from the embryonic stage to a cohesive machine resembled the CPC more than any organization of it's era. It had a very distinct practice from that of the erstwhile C.P.I.(M.L.) Party Unity and Peoples War parties in its practice being termed the 'jungle' party.

Cadres should study the writings of Kanhai Chaterjee as much as Comrade Charu Mazumdar who made an immortal theoretical contribution. It is my strong wish that all the past documents of the MCC and copies of its organ Red Spark are posted on the internet for cadres to study. After the pioneers like Kanhai Chaterjee, Amulya Sen and Chandrashekar Das we must speak volumes of the great contribution of comrades like Kishenda who late Comrade Sushil Roy felt made an outstanding contribution. I reccomend all readers to read the newspaper report by Aloke Banerjee "Inside MCC Country. In 2004 which highlights its great achievements.

Today the Maoist Movement in Jharkhand and Bihar is virtually the continuity or legacy of the work of the Maoist Communist Centre. Arguably theoretically Comrade Kanhai Chatterjee was sounder than even Charu Mazumdar on massline. At it's height it carried out paramilitary actions in regions of Gaya and Aurangabad in intensity comparable with any armed struggle in the world, let alone the PWG. Sadly in its time it hardly received adequate publicity. It staged successful conferences in 1989, 1996 and 2002. I can never forget the words of G.N Saibaba in 2014 when he praised the contribution of the Maoist Communist Centre on par with that of the C.P.I.(M.L.) Peoples War Group, claiming at one stage it was stronger than the PW and PU group together.
It is fitting that late Comrade Sushil Roy spoke about how liberalism and open functioning killed the Maoist movement killed the movement in Lalgarh, acting against the Bolshevik spirit.
The MCC had its roots in the Dakshin Desh group that from 1964 split of from the Communist Party of India-Marxist.A MagAzine caled 'Chintha' was published in 1965 highlighting all the important aspects of demarcation from revisionism. In October 1969 the MCC was formed.Comrades Amulya Sen, Chandrashekar Das and Kanhai Chaterjee sowed the seeds to germinate to defend legacy of revolutionary ideology against revisionism. It was Com. Kanhai Chatterjee who laid the basic line for their Centre in the very first issue of “Lal Pataka” brought out in 1969.
The important topics dealt with were:

(a) The importance of Maoism (then called ‘thought’) in the present era,

(b) In the present situation the tactical line and tactical slogans, the correct policy towards the participation in elections and a correct analysis of the boycott of elections, saying that though it was a question of tactics, it acquires the significance of strategy in the concrete conditions of India,

(c) The Correct line regarding the armed agrarian revolutionary war, that is, protracted people’s war including army building and base areas

(d) Correct orientation towards forms of struggle (open and secret, legal and illegal, peaceful and armed),

(e) The programme, tactics and methods of the peasant struggle,

(f) Approach and method towards the UF, (h) political propaganda

(g) On the women’s question, the student movement and the nationality question in India, and

(h) Methods of leadership. (excerpted from Peoples March Nov-Dec 2004 issue)The founding documents of the M.C.C. stressed the importance of base areas in he revolutionary process.

A very pertinent demarcation is that unlike C.PI.(M.L), the MCC held mass organizations and mass movements as a necessary component of a revolutionary movement. Statement below was the chief demarcating factor of the M.C.C with the C.P.I.(M.L).

"If we are to build armed agrarian revolution, a people’s army and red base areas, we will always have to remain firm on some basic principles regarding their inter-relation. The building up and consolidation of the armed agrarian revolution, peoples army and base areas -these tasks are related to each other. “If we are to build up an agrarian revolution no peoples army can be built up.

Similarly an agrarian revolution cannot be built up without a Peoples Army. Again without a people’s army no base area can be built up. Similarly without base areas the very existence of people’s army cannot be maintained.

It is only through agrarian revolutionary guerrilla struggle and the establishment of the peoples army that a red base area can be built up Again through this work alone can the revolutionary high tide can be accelerated throughout the country, and depending on the base area and with the help of he Peoples Army, the agrarian revolution alo can be consolidated, deepened an expanded.”

Fascinating that MCC in important ways differed with the C.P.I.(M.L) Peoples War Group before the merger. It described India as a neo-colony unlike the C.P.I.(M.L.) People’s War who termed it semi-colonial and semi -feudal MCC also analyzed the era as that of "Total Collapse of Imperialism" as stated by Lin Biao. Instead of "Imperialism era' as that of C.P.I.(M.L.) PWG. MCC unlike the C.P.I.(M.L.) Peoples War group felt that the Comprador bourgeoise had no independent power. Also felt Muslim fundamentalism was an equal threat to Hindu communalism. C.P.I.(M) while PWG felt it was Hindu Communalism was the greater enemy. Unlike PWG it felt Imperialism was the principal contradiction. Unlike PWG it disagreed with forming open mass organizations initially only forming Krantikari peasant committees. The MCC felt Punjab was semi-feudal unlike the PWG group who classified Punjab as capitalist.

Ironical that MCC was a separate branch from the C.P.I.(M.L) which is testimony that the formation of the C.P.I.(M.L.) had strong bureaucratic and sectarian tendencies negating massline in important respects. Had Dakshin Desh group originally merged into it MC would never had reached its ultimate stature. I support the Maoist Communist Centre not joining the C.P.I.(M.L.) of 1969 from the angle of overall party building.Quoting Kanhai Chaterjee “It is wrong to say that Dakshin Desh Group left the A.I C.C.R because of it’s differences on the issue of immediate formation of he party.A.I.C.C.R. did not recognize any group with aseparate identity like he 'Dakshin Desh Groups as it's constituents. No representative of this group was a member of the East Bengal Co-ordination Committee. –Or of he A.I.C.C.R."

The M.C.C made the following criticism of the C.P.I(M.L) 'Naturally as the party was formed without following the revolutionary process, method and style, some known degenerated elements could capture some posts in the leadership from he beginnings. This facilitates undeclared groups and a tendency of group mentality and bureacratism replacing democratic Centralism.'

In a very subtle manner MCC from 1969 itself practiced a version of armed struggle incorporating mass struggles like the later PWG or Party Unity practiced from 1980,which is ironic. It negated stages theory of Andhra Pradesh Co-ordination Commitee but also 'Individual annihilation of the class enemy of the C.P.I.(M.L.).With meticulous mass approach it's red army corpses sowed the seeds for building later guerilla zones by staging red resistance.

Still MCC reflected powerful tendencies of left sectarianism. Main weaknesses of MCC was replacing agrarian revolutionary movement with military actions, military approach to party building not sufficient emphasis on building democratic mass organizations, negating urban work and ultra- secretist functioning. neglecting open mass work. In spite of most methodical or surgical efforts it was unable to set up base areas like the CPC did earlier. Leninist party building practice was neglected with over emphasis on building of military organization. A sectarian approach was displayed by its ranks which earlier caused it's exit from the All-India Peoples Resistance forum on grounds that the forum did not propagate slogan of 'Boycott of Elections’or giving call to launch 'revolutionary armed struggle. MCC hardly gave importance to the struggles of the rich or middle peasantry like the Party Unity or PWG groups It also neglected open mass movements of various classes. Often when implementing tactic of 'Boycott' it did not place sufficient emphasis on building the revolutionary alternative organs of power and indirectly gave tacit support even to ruling class opposition parties. It also never set up mass based peasant organization like the C.P.I.(M.L.) Party Unity. Also vacillated by joining Revolutionary Internationalist Movement which practiced deviationist trends in International Line. Its mistakes are an important lesson for any pupil on the mass line of Maoism particularly in light of the necessary subjective factors needed for launching armed struggle and contrast between mass line and military line. Arguably theoretically it underestimated or negated the role of the national bourgeoisie like Charu Mazumdar. The important aspect is that the proletarian party is still in the stage of re-organization and not formed. Infact it is ironical that so many groups implemented armed struggle and not a single unified party for decades. Arguably MCC also teaches us a lesson that India needs to incorporate protracted peoples War in truly Indian form nad not blibly imoittae Chinese experience.

Morally MCC lit the first spark in Sonarpur region of West Bengal when it was still known as the Dakshin Desh group. However in a very short time they were suppressed by the state and the struggle was short-lived. Nevertheless it was an invaluable lesson gained by the cadres von the problems and complexities of the agrarian revolution relating to creation of secret units or, self-defence squads or peoples militia. The failure of the Sonarpur struggle made the MCC leadership understand that in such a vast and uneven country like India where the enemy was much stronger than the revolutionary forces guerrilla struggles had to be initiated in geographically favourable zones .Above all it gave them the capacity to locate areas with the long tem strategic perspective of launching peoples war.

After the struggles in Sonarpur, Howrah, Hooghly, Maldah and other places suffered heavy repression through fake encounters -area of Kanska became the new base of Struggle.2 struggles were raised. One was "Land to the hands of the Real tillers," and the other was "Political power and Administration in the hands of the revolutionary Commitees.Thousands of armed peasants attacked government godowns seizing the grains for distribution of the poor set up people's courts and handed out punishment to the opressive among them.” They also attacked police stations seizing weapons o form the guerilla squads. During the period 1970-74, the revolutionary masses captured 11 firearams, directed attacks against the govt.godowns 85 times and hand out punishment to opressive landlords through peoples courts in 45 cases. An MCC document stated thatt he revolutionary significance of the Kanska armed movement lay in the fact that when the C.P.I.(M.L.) suffered a setback due to state repression,Kanska illuminated the flame of Naxalbari.Sadly this hardly got publicity .

From mid-1972 ,another armed resistance movement arose in parts of the Sundarban area of 24 Parganas encompassing Basanti,Gosabi and Sandeshkahli police stations. Here it waged a relentless struggle against the opressive landlords, confiscating their land and distributing them among the poor peasants. It was remarkable the manner the MCC withstood mainstream left parties like the C.P.I.(M.) and the Revolutionary Socialist Party to Make significant penetration. However its work received a major setback from the hired goons of the C.P.I.(M.) and the RSP.

In Bihar the MCC lit its first spark in Gaya and Hazaribagh districts in the Parashnath and Zilga hills in the Dhanbad-Hazaibah zone ,and from the Neru Mehudia hills of the Bargaon area .It turned into a Prairie fire in Chalho hills in Gaya district. and adjoining areas. It knitted the Revolutionary Peasant Commitees to combat feudalism and imperialist control in several areas. Revolutionary peasants launched a series of attacks against feudal forces confiscated their movable and immovable property and distributed land among the landless and poor peasants through the peasant Commitee. Granaries owned by landlords were destroyed to the ground and thousands of cares of land was distributed to the tillers. Genuine organs of peoples power was created in the countryside. Weapons of landlords were confiscated and many were arrested for their crimes. Private armies of upper caste landlords had their flesh and hearts ripped off .Workers were also organized to wage struggles against forest contractors. Social issues were also taken up like rape, obscene dancing performances, liquor consumption, gambling, dacoity and theft, caste conflicts and communal riots.

The MCC expanded its network and struggles to Dhanbad, Giridh and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand. A new slogan was raised that went above immediate issues "Transform Jharkhand into a Red Zone-"Jharkhand Ko Lalkhand me badal dalo"

An important achievement of the M.C.C in Bihar was the destruction of the headquarters of the oppressive feudal forces at Dalocok Baghaura in Gaya in 1987.Thousands of peasants participated in that military campaign, which proved to be the turning point of mobile armed resistance struggle.

One famous action was carried out on landlord Rameshwar Singh. For years the peasants were trampled by the landlords iron feet. On January 6th 1983 the Kisan Committee gathered at is ‘Kacheri’. He was arrested and tried. They not only killed him but burnt his house. This was the first time that he people seriously saw the need of combining mass struggles with armed movements. From Gaya to Dhanbad, the struggle spread to Bokaro, Aurangabad, Hazaribagh and Giridih. Later in land seizure movements starting in fulls wing from 1986 to 1990, 7000 acres of land were re-distributed. They also raised spectacular squad actions.

The participation of women was remarkable which was reflected in the phenomenal mass base of the Nari Mukti Sunhat rallies held in Patna and Ranchi around 30 to 40 thousand participated creating the impact of a tornado. Many women even joined the guerrilla squads .Sushil Roy confirmed that it was the sons of the soil, rather than the daughters who held the fort.

In spite of intense repression the MCC expanded its base to regions like Ranchi, Singbum Deoghar, Dumka, Jamui, Moghyr, Banka, Bhagalpur and some other areas. It also covered places like Chatra, Palamu, Latehar, Gumla and Lohardaga in Graw district. It also extended it s political work to regions of Assam.

"In August 2001 an armed squads under the leadership of the Maoist Communist Centre stopped a truckload of grain and distributed half the sacks of pulses to the masses, before they wee forced to retreat by the arrival of police enforcements.

The next, night they repeated the experience halting, 8000 strong, 5 trucks on the Grand Trunk Road. Slogans were shouted calling for confiscating the money lenders goods to distribute amongst the poor, to establish the authority of the revolutionary peasant committees and protect the people from starvation. Before the goods were distributed, thirty jeeploads of police arrived at the scene. For hours there was a fierce combat as the revolutionaries had laid mines."

MCC combatants heroically resisted the might of the police forces. (From Aloke Banerjee’s Article-’Inside M.C.C Country’)

A special court in Gaya had meted out a life imprisonment to a number of members of the Krantikari Kisan Committee which had led an uprising in the 1990’s that had seen the militant involvement of thousands of poor and middle peasants. The M.C.C called for a 72 hour band in Bihar and Jharkhand in protest. Railway tracks were blocked, Schools and colleges boycotted, courts boycotted, shops and markets closed Etc. Revolutionary raids in retaliation were organized by the M.C.C during the 3 day bandh. In Lohardaga, Gumla etc. Aloke Banerjee-’Inside M.C.C country.
This trend spread all over and hundreds of landlords were brought to he book. Guilty landlords we shaved and paraded in public. The most notorious we sentenced to death. Some even repented and were forgiven. Hey would now operate under his watchful administration of he Committee. All the ‘Kacheri’s’ were razed to the ground.

Famous examples were Moha Khan of Kadirganj I Gaya, Madhumati ingh of Balia, Surakasha Singh of Pachmi, Main Singh the owner of 2900 acres in Pipra and the Mahant of Bodhgaya. The famous words ‘Utha Hai ToofanZamana Badal Raha’ were now echoing all over.(A storm has risen ,the times are changing). The M.C.C also called a historic 72 hour bandh I Bihar and Jharkhand against he death sentence of membersof the Krantikari Kisan Committee who had led ahistoric uprising. Schools, colleges, courts, offices, shops and markets remained closed. All movement of vehicles virtually ceased. Railway services came to a standstill.

Thousands of people lay on the railway tracks. Business came to a standstill. Revolutionary raids were organized in Lohardaga, Gumla and elsewhere.(From Aloke Banerjee’s Article-’Inside M.C.C Country’)

The M.C C. launched a series of military type attacks on the police and military forces. On December 2002, The M.C C was able to disarm 66 jawans in a raid when they captured 50 weapons after attacking a police contingent in Jharkhand. In his appraisal of the Movement of M.C.C Prakash Singh (Former Inspector General of Police in his book The Naxalite Movement in India) States: The M.C.C has been running a parallel judicial system in certain pockets.(From Aloke Banerjee’s Article-’Inside M.C.C Country’)

These are described as Jan Adalat or Peoples Courts. Farzand Ahmed of India Today writes this example,” Silence descends as Laxman, the area commander of M.C.C , a sinister figure with his face covered appears. The 2 accused, with their hands tied behind their backs are brought in.Laxman launches into his ideological monologue ‘In today’s system, the toiling masses working hard but get nothing to eat. On the other hand, these bastard thieves lift goats and diesel. He then asks the villagers to select 5 judges. The 5 judge bench hears he charges and announces its verdict -5 lathi blows and 5 slaps by each children’s publicly.

The verdict ,confirmed by the people by a voice vote is quickly executed, accompanied by the requisite
slogan’ Naxalbari Ek Hi Rasta.’(From Aloke Banerjee’s Article-’Inside M.C.C Country’)

In 2001 the Maoist Communist Centre merged with the Revolutionary Communist Centre of India(Maoist) from Punjab led by Comrade Shamsher Singh Sheri.to form the Maoist Comunist Centre of India

Before the final formation of the C.P.I.(Maoist) a Black Chapter was inscribed in the history of the Indian revolutionary movement with a sustained tussle between the squads of the CPI(M.L)PWG group with the MCC from 1997-2000.In 2001 both parties made a historic self -criticism. In 1998 Amal, a Central Commitee member made a most sectarian statement in the period of the clashes placing the blame on the PWG for encroaching areas of the MCC.A meeting finally attended by Sushil Roy, Kishanda from MCC with Ganpathy, Azad and Kishanji from PWG brought the mutual kilings to the close. All comrades made a self criticism at the very core of their hearts. This step was one of the most progressive and defining steps ever in the history of Indian Communist Movement as well as one of the most touching .

The author thanks the works "Storming the Gates of Heaven" by professor Amit Bhattacharya which is a critical study of the Maoist movement in India, in the mian and also the Article by Aloke Banerjee "Inside Country of MCC" for miltary struggles as well as a brief interview from late Comrade Sushil Roy..

The Hong Kong protesters are foolish cowards

Protests have never been unusual around the world. But what surprises me is the fact that people protesting their governments have called on the US to intervene in their countries internal affairs. That has happenedin Venezuela, here I have seen people on the TV, who are protesting against President Nicolás Maduro, and they have asked the US to invade their country and remove an elected president.
No I see protesters in Hong Kong carrying American flags and asking the US to protect them from their own police. It is outright embarrassing. We seem to  be living in a time when violent protests take place by conservative people act cowardly, expecting “Big Daddy US” to magically come in and save them. These people don’t seem to realize that the US rarely acts on behalf of people in foreign countries. The US, whether troops or sanctions, goes where our so called “interest” lie. US leaders, as Trump, like to talk about supporting democracy and freedom, but what they really support is just their right to make money and they make that money at the expense of other people, in other countries. They take care of US interests and they rarely protect anyone else.
In a major act of hypocrisy, both Democrats and Republicans are pushing through congress a so called “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act.” According to
South China Morning Post, while cover the massive protests:

A spokesman for the organiser said: “Our rally is to urge US congressmen to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act. We also want to show them our stance on freedom.

And US politicians, almost unanimously have passed such a law. According to the BBC:

The bill - which still needs to pass the upper house, the Senate - would mandate an annual review, to see whether Hong Kong had sufficient autonomy from the rest of China to justify its special trading status.
The lower chamber also approved stopping tear gas exports to Hong Kong.
On Monday, Hong Kong protesters took to the streets to support the US bill.

The real hypocrisy here is that the US would NEVER support that kind of protesting here in the US—vandalism and throwing fire bombs at police? No way! All we have to do is look at how protester were treated during the Occupy Movement. They were not violent and yet there was tear gas and mass arrests used to break up a non-violent protest movement here in this country.
For people here at this blog, we are well aware that this country will not do anything to support real democracy. The Hong Kong protesters are naive idiots and cowards. If they really want democracy and freedom, they need to do it on their own and not try and rely on a foreign imperialist power. Unfortunately we live in a time when cowards are rewarded for their deplorable actions.
