Saturnalia- the original Christmas season?!

Each year I write about the origins of the Christian holiday we call Christmas. There were other pre-Christian holidays for that time period. Some early pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice. Some pre-Christians celebrated Saturnalia. All of those holidays were celebrated in a similar way of our modern day Christmas. As the below video says, no one really knows when Jesus Christ was born. It has been almost impossible to figure the exact day of his birth.[1] It is fairly obvious that Christians, in the Roman Empire period decided to pick December 25 because there were already holidays being celebrated near that date. As stated in the film, there are no records made of that, even though it seems logical to believe it. -SJ Otto

[1] Since I am not a Christian, I do not believe that Jesus Christ was divine. Some non-Christians I know don’t believe Jesus existed at all. They believe he was a myth from the beginning. Others, as me, believe there was a Jesus, but he was just a man and nothing more. So some of us non-Christians do believe in the existence of a preacher named Jesus Christ. And for that reason we believe there were some records that give us hints about the man Jesus. That includes his birth.
