McCain: That DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRAL

By 史蒂夫・奥多

Knowing that he may be undone by the fact that Barack Obama is the first Afro-American to run for president, John McCain tried to up one on the Democrats and picked a women for his running mate. Who knows who came up with the idea, but it couldn’t have been McCain, he’s just not smart enough. It must have been the Republikkkan machine, which has some of the youngest and most brilliant minds in the country. After all, they not only have run this country since the days of Ronald Reagan, they have perfected the art of public manipulation and have intimidated the Democrats enough that they still set the tone of the issues and debate over the issues.

This woman has to be smarter than McCain, since McCain has less intelligence than any of my pet salamanders (I still have two who are living).
According to Yahoo News:

DENVER - John McCain tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate on Friday in a startling selection on the eve of the Republican National Convention.
In an announcement, the campaign said that Palin, who has been governor less than two years, "has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of."
"Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today," the campaign said. can National Convention.
Two senior campaign officials had disclosed McCain's decision a few hours before the Republican presidential nominee-to-be and his newly-minted running mate appeared at a rally in swing-state Ohio.
Palin, like McCain, is a conservative with a maverick streak who has shown a willingness to clash with others in her own party. A self-styled hockey mom and political reformer, she has been governor of her state less than two years.
Palin's selection shocked numerous Republican officials.
At 44, Palin is a generation younger that Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, who is Barack Obama's running mate on the Democratic ticket.

Iraq: News from the front

Once again we are able to get news straight from the Marxist-Leninist-Revolutionaries (MLR) of IRAQ, an opposition group to the U.S. occupation in Iraq. Despite the claims of the mainstream press, Prez George Bush and Gen. Betray-Us, it is obvious that Iraqis are refusing to accept the puppet government that Bush had intended to root in that part of the Middle East. Although most opposition groups are Islamic, this Marxist group is not alone in the determination to resist U.S. occupation.

From the MLR (translated by Google):

Can the Democrats learn from their mistakes?

The Democrats just can’t seem to learn from their mistakes. They seem to believe that the left will always vote for them, no matter what they say or who they pander to. All the press on TV yesterday was on Hillary Clinton. She may be important, but it is all about bigwigs endorsing each other, not about issues or concerns people had. The same thing happened in 1968, where the left couldn’t even get a discussion on the Vietnam War in the Democratic National Convention.
Now we have Afghanistan and Iraq.
Mad magazine once put out a back issue called “Where’s Waldo for dummies.” It had just one large picture of Waldo. The Dems think those of us on the left are that stupid. They treated people concerned about the direction of the country as if they don’t even belong here and spent all night sucking up to fellow big wigs.
I’m glad people stood up to this charade and I only wish I had the funds and time to join them. We need this demonstration badly. I also understand demonstrations are planned for Republicans, but they are so abhorrent, that few of us need convincing they are just a step away from a fascist party.

New coverage for the big names!
For the outsiders, this is our welcome!

Here is the latest from the demonstrations:

March with Iraq Veterans in Denver Wednesday, August 27th!
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Support Iraq Veterans’ Just Demands on Candidate Obama & March With Them!Iraq Veterans Against the War delivered a letter to Barack Obama on Monday August 25, with these demands:

1. The immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces from Iraq.

2. Full and adequate health care and benefits to all returning service members and veterans.

3. Reparations made to the Iraqi people for the destruction caused by the U.S. war and occupation.

On Wednesday, Rage Against the Machine, The Coup, Wayne Kramer, the Flobots and others are playing a free show at the Denver Coliseum to support Iraq Vets Against the War.

If Obama has not replied by 3:00 pm Wednesday August 27 that he will comply with these demands, IVAW has announced they will march to the Pepsi Center. These are just demands, and the veterans and their supporters should be allowed to march. We the undersigned call on people to march with IVAW to the Pepsi Center. Ron Kovic, Vietnam veteran, author, “Born on the 4th of Jully”

It looks more like 1968 each day

From the Fightin' Cock Flyer:
The following news story:

While the protesters at the Deomocra卐ic Convention in Denver, CO. had hoped to create the spirit of 1968, it now Appears the police are only too happy to help them by surounding the protesters and preventing them from leaving. It is creating an intense situaation and it seems history mus be repeating itself once again.

Protesters to the Democrats: GET THE FUCK OUT OF AFGHANISTAN

The Democratic Convention has already begun and unlike others, the Democrats will not get off with usual pandering to the most ignorant of voters. Many of us know that all the wars in the Middle East are a part of the so called "Project for the New American Century" They were planned out before 9-11. If the protesters seem similar to those of 1968, it's not a coincidence. Both the Democrats (AKA Di卐icrats) and the Republikkkans said we HAD to win in Vietnam or face a serious threat. They called it the domino theory, the one by one, the countries would fall to communism like dominos. By the end of the Di卐icrats convention, it was clear that there was no one to vote for to end the war. Anti-Vietnam war protesters outside were completely ignored by the Di卐icrats. Protesting the far-to-the right Republikkkans was a waist of time.

We already know that Barack Obama does not plan to get out of Afghanistan or abandon our puppet government there.

According to
Revolution: Newspaper of the Revolutionary Communist Party
"On Barack Obama . . . and Overcoming Differences"
How can, and how would, you overcome the differences between those who are opposed to, and want to see a basic departure from, not only the war in Iraq but the whole juggernaut of war, repression, and torture being driven forward by the Bush regime on the one hand, and on the other hand, those who are determined to support and carry forward this juggernaut? How will the Obama position lead to anything other than the capitulation of the former to the latter? Obama says that he will "listen to the generals," and the very first speech he gave after he became the presumptive nominee was a sabre-rattling, blood-thirsty speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Well, whose voice will have more sway: the generals, or those forces in the anti-war movement who desperately tell themselves and, still worse, others, that Obama "will have to" listen to them? Those who back Israel to the hilt—and who, like Obama himself, threaten nuclear war against Iran; or those who want to see justice for the Palestinians and who oppose an attack on Iran? We don't even have to guess—and we can see already the effect of this, as these same "anti-war" leaders tell people NOT to go out in the streets against the war, lest it "hurt Obama's chances."

There are a number of reasons the US WILL LOSE AFGHANISTAN- NO MATTER WHAT OUR LEADERS DO.

The British and Russian could not prop up puppet governments there; the US can't do it either.

New groups are emerging that are helping to fight the US army, including Communist Party (Maoist) of Afghanistan, which had vowed in their website, before it was closed down a few months ago, that they where in a hurry to start a Peoples war.

The Afghanistans have a love-hate relationship with the Taliban. They are brutally repressive, but not corrupt and as bad as the Northern Alliance, which the US has reinstalled as our new puppet government. The Northern Alliance has been run out of office in the past for being neglective, corrupt and lacking popular support.
Pakistan has been our ally in this but our main dictator there, Pervez Musharraf, has been forced to resign due to popular demand. He originally took over in a coup against a democracy. Since the US is loosing control of that country, it could and is being pulled into the Afghanistan quagmire. They have a nuclear bomb.

An update on the protests:

Will our idiot leader really take us to war with Iran???

If the US get's in a war with Iran, it will find there have been opposition groups to that giovernnment since the rule of Iran's Mohammad Rezā Shāh Pahlavi (محمدرضا شاه پهلوی)who was returned to power by a CIA coup after a Democratically elected government overthrow him in 1953. These various Marxist and Islamic groups, such as the The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran have had experience working underground and organizing opposition. They will not welcome invaders or a pupet government of the US. Here is a written statement from one such group:

The following article is slightly abridged from the November issue of Highlights(number 36), organ of the Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist)
ECONOMIC WAR AGAINST THE PEOPLE:
A SURGE OF CRISIS AND OF RESISTANCE

The Islamic Republic continues it's all out war against the Iranian people: political and economic war, along with security and military crack downs. This economic war has transformed itself into open war against the people. The military and security forces of the Islamic regime have been mobilized to wage this brutal war against striking workers, against the people's rebellion in opposition to gasoline rationing, and against the uprising of deprived and poverty stricken people in small towns throughout the country. The Ministry of Interior reports that the budget for the suppression of the people's discontent has increased twenty fold (Mehr newspaper, 09/09/2007).
Rationing of gasoline was the first cannon shot of the regime against the people. Price inflation is the regime's second volley. The removal of tariffs also is a direct proclamation of war against domestic producers and employed workers.
Inflation (increase in consumer prices) (1), in a matter of just a few months, has produced a huge transfer of wealth from the hands of poor people to the hands of a wealthy group of financiers and to the hands of the wealthy strata of Iranian society who have ready access to holdings and stocks of commodities. Rich families holding top government posts, with access to power of decision making on matters of economic policies, have instantaneously gained astronomical wealth. These rapacious families of privilege have become even fatter by illegally importing consumer goods. In just the first six months of the year, consumer imports increased by 77%. These uncontrolled imports have not only destroyed the domestic sugar cane industry and plantations but also have destroyed the livelihood of thousands of small producers and peasants. The crisis in the sugar sector has caused enormous unemployment among industrial workers and agricultural workers. The same trend is emerging in the domestic tea and rice sectors. Inflation, economic stagnation, and widespread unemployment are the three observable signs of the present economic crisis. Iran's economy previously suffered these same ills in 1976. Today's crisis, however, is qualitatively different. Indices of capital's profit in 1976 were equal to 257 units; but in 2001 these indices were equal to 46. (These statistics are taken from Hadi Zamani's web site, posted 09/16/2007).
According to Iran Economic News, quoted by Central Bank, the rate of inflation at the end of August 2007 with respect to the end of August 2006 was equivalent to 15.6%. As we know, two years ago Ahmadi Nejad declared his number one economic priority is to reduce inflation. According to the World Bank, Iran's GDP per capita is less than one third of the average of the world's GDP per capita; compared with all other countries, Iran is number 111 (Year Manual of 2000). In terms of population Iran is the 18th most populated country but in terms of GNP it ranks the 34th. Every year Iran's unemployment increases by one million. The official rate of unemployment has been 20%; among young people this figure stands at 40%. Every year, 250,000 graduates seek to enter the work force, but only 70,000 of them find work. There are 20 million school children and youth in Iran. The vast majority of them will join the ranks of the army of unemployed (Hadi Zamani's web site).
The Islamic Republic's economy has reached a dead end. It is the working people and poverty stricken people who are paying the price for it. With every economic shock, one more layer of the population is thrown into abyss of poverty and one more layer of wealth is added to the belly of the 1000 ruling family and their merchant and capitalist cohorts and foreign partners. Poverty forces people to engage in pre-capitalist modes of production, and prostitution develops. Increasing the political repression and social oppression (such as the oppression of women and the tightening of the chain of religious subservience) by the state, is another product of the economic crisis.
This economic crisis is complete mirror image of the contradiction between the ruling reactionary / oppressive production and social relations with productive forces (mainly the productive potential of the people). These reactionary production and social relations waste and destroy human and non human resources.
The economic crisis in turn, intensifies the contradictions between the regime and the people as well as the internal contradictions within the ruling class and pushes the regime more to the end of line. Different top individuals and factions of the Islamic Republic hurry up to criticize economic policies of the government and put the blame of this horrendous economic situation on each other. For example even Khamenii (the Leader of IRI) declared: "I am not aware of all actions of the government"! Or Tajzadeh (a spokesperson for the Reform faction of the II) says: "Corruption has spread to every corner".
The working people and toilers have no way out except to launch waves of resistance against the waves of economic crisis. The courageous striking workers of the sugarcane industry of Haft Tappeh are a typical example of this wave of resistance, which must not subside because the very immediate lives of the working people depends on the spread of waves of resistance.
THE ESSENCE OF THE CRISIS

Statement by Dave Pugh on his Detention during his Fact-Finding Trip to India

August 16, 2008

Yesterday I returned to the U.S. after spending three and a half weeks gathering information about the anti-displacement movement in India. I traveled across five states in central and eastern India to the sites of projected industrial and mining projects and real estate developments. I spoke with hundreds of villagers who are threatened with displacement and with many dedicated activists who are helping to organize the people's resistance.

On the evening of August 12, I was returning to the state capital of Orissa, Bhubaneswar, after spending a day in the area of Kalinganagar. This was the site of a massacre of 15 tribal farmers in January 2006 by Orissa police who were protecting the construction site of a large steel plant owned by the Tatas, one of the biggest industrial houses in India. Since then the farmers and their allies have stopped construction in its tracks, much to the consternation of Tata Steel and the Orissa government.

At approximately 8 pm, the car transporting us was pulled over by local police for a traffic-related reason. My translator Pratima Das, my guide Pradeep, our driver and I were taken to a police station for questioning. For the next eight hours, all of us were interrogated, first by the local police, and then by the chief police official of the state of Orissa. The latter was particularly hostile, accusing me of being an "anti-government agitator." When I insisted that I was a teacher researching the issue of forced displacement in India, he insisted that only "communists" would be interested in speaking with villagers.

After a night of harassment by the Orissa police, I was dropped off at my hotel at 4 am and told to stay there while they "verified" my story with U.S. Homeland Security and Interpol. I was questioned once more in my hotel room the following day. Whether due to the efforts of my local friends, or the police leaking the story to the press, or both, I was interviewed by two TV stations and a local newspaper in my hotel room. A press release issued by Visthapan Virodhi Jan Vikas Andolan (the nationwide Anti-Displacement and People's Development Movement) produced many phone calls and emails to government officials in Orissa and New Delhi. In addition, supporters of the International League of Peoples' Struggle called Indian embassies and consulates in many countries. These calls undoubtedly made it more difficult for the Indian authorities to detain me any longer.

Shortly before I left Bhubaneswar, I heard that Pratima and Pradeep had been arrested and charged with serious political crimes that can keep them behind bars for many years. This is an outrage which has to be vigorously protested. Pratima and Pradeep are guilty only of being anti-displacement activists and introducing a foreign friend to the realities of India's villages and the devastating impact that capitalist "development" will have on tens of millions of people in India in the coming years. As soon as I hear from friends in India, I will send you information on how to support the immediate release of Pratima and Pradeep from jail.

Make a difference at the National Democratic convention in Denver

For some time I’ve been showing musical videos of 1960s and 1970s protests against the Vietnam and Kampuchea wars. I Intended for the readers to notice similarities between the wars we fight today and the war torn period of the late 1960s and half of the 1970s. We have an unpopular and dangerous president who disrespects our own constitution. The economy is bad and young people feel a need to take action.
In the 1960s we had Richard Ni卐on and today we have, one of the nation’s worst presidents in history, George W. Bush. Democrat candidate Barack Obama is already beginning to back-pedal on the war. So, as with the Democratic Convention of 1968, where Democrats ignored war protesters, we may have a repeat of something similar to
“Don’t ask Jack to help you,
He’ll just turn the other way” from the song Chicago" by Graham Nash

So this year the World Can’t Wait organization is planning it’s own demonstrations next week as the Democratic Convention in Denver. -史蒂夫 奥多

Their plans are:

The Democratic Convention starts a week from Monday. The political battle over whether anti-war sentiment will get expressed in a mass way on the streets there is intensifying on both sides:
Tom Morello, Daniel Ellsberg, Howard Zinn, and Camilo Mejia (courageous Iraq war resister and leader of Iraq Veterans Against the War) have signed a Call to Come to Denver. We are out to make August 24 the biggest anti-war march there since Vietnam. This letter - an effort to unify the movement based on the need to resist and stop the war and not temper our demands in order not to anger the Democrats - is still circulating. Sign it here and send it on!
How does this protest happen? People in Denver are housing 50+ World Can't Wait organizers who are getting to Denver at their own expense. Materials and signs are being produced; event venues rented where they are not donated; and vans rented where they're not borrowed. Simply said, No one funds this effort but YOU. Donate online now, or send a check ear-marked "Denver." See tax deductible details below**.
Rage Against the Machine is playing a free show Wednesday August 27 at the Denver Coliseum. At the DNC in 2000, in Los Angeles, Rage was playing a concert (in a cage!) for 8000 people when the police attacked. It was a police riot. In 2004 Rage had broken up, so the fact that they're back together and playing for the protest is beautiful. (see their comments below):

“Rage Against the Machine Denver 8-27-08
Interviewer to Rage Against the Machine singer Zach de la Rocha: It's an election year here in the U.S. -- did that factor in to your decision to debut new music now?
Zach: I'd be lying if I said it was coincidental. I think that it's an interesting moment. The lowest approval rating in the history of any presidency -- and for Congress. There's this interesting rupture developing, and I think it's a healthy one. To watch the Democrats, who were really our only institutional obstruction to this extremely rightward swing, fall in lockstep behind this new imperial fantasy that became reality -- that was a pivotal moment. A lot of people began to question the whole nature of both parties. Now more than ever, there's a more fertile ground for artists to try to reveal the nature of both parties, who are mainly the public relations team for transnational corporations. Guitarist Tom Morello told the Rocky Mountain News in a 2007 interview "real change doesn't come from crossing your fingers and hope you get a better president next time. We've had abominable wars under Democratic administrations as well . . . It feels like we're on this train that is hell-bound and there's no way to do anything about it . . . what we fail to do now will determine the path the country goes in."
ticket info

An important part of the battle going on the next two weeks will be over the political repression of protest, and it's already started. I wrote "Gitmo on the Platte: Secret Service, CIA, Military Plans to Suppress Protest at the DNC in Denver Please post it to other sites, and send links around to this exposure. We knew about the "freedom cages" at the Pepsi Center, and then Wednesday learned about the detention cages in a Denver warehouse that the city is preparing. Denver activists protested there Friday. There's more in the Colorado Independent.
Major news stories have warned about "massive protests" in Denver for more than a year and Denver got $50 million for security because the convention is designated a "National Security Event." If the Democrats wanted to present a different image than the police-state loving Bush regime, certainly they could. We have to ask, beyond the usual vague warnings of "terrorist threats" used to justify political repression, what are the authorities really trying to prevent? And where will all the new tools - material and organizational - go after the convention? Will all the political surveillance they gather be destroyed when no "terrorist" incidents happen? Or will they signal another leap in what World Can't Wait so correctly identified when we began in 2005, "The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come."
Remember the line that follows that in our Call? "We must act now; the future is in the balance." Never more true than now!
Sending a shout out to our friends at Come Up to Denver "The Come Up to Denver Campaign started in March 2008, when Graham Nash gave permission to Colorado activists to re-record his song "Chicago" for the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. In 2008, the DNC will be in Denver. That version, "Come Up to Denver" is now a rallying cry for anti-war activists from around the country to converge on Denver for 2008 DNC to protest the war."
Here's how the song, written in 1970 when the "Chicago 8" were on trial (later all charges were overturned), ends:
We can change the world!
Rearrange the world!
It's dying - if you believe in justice

dying - and if you believe in freedom
dying - let a man live his own life
dying - rules and regulations, who needs them

Violence in Bangladesh

The following story concerns the leader of a Maoist party in Bangladesh. The Maoist movement is quite large and militant there and things seem be getting more violent.

Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) NAXALBARI PRESS RELEASE

The murder of Comrade Mizanur Rahman Tutul, Secretary of the Purba Bangla Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) Lal Pataka (CCOMPOSA member) by the notorious Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of Bangladesh is yet another instance of the use of murder in custody as a tool of suppression by the so-called caretaker government now ruling Bangladesh. Conveniently named 'crossfire', this has been a permanent feature of the counter-revolutiona ry strategy used by all the regimes that have ruled there. The present government has continued and intensified this policy.Comrade Mizanur was a leading figure in the Maoist movement of Bangladesh. In 1997, along with comrade Kamrul Islam Mastar he founded the Purba Bangla Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) Lal Pataka. Comrade Kamrul was martyred in 2006, murdered while in the custody of the RAB.Comrade Mizanur played a leading role in initiating a thorough summation of the rich history and experiences of the party and of the Maoist movement in Bangladesh. He was keen on unifying the genuine Maoist forces of that country into a single party. He was an active participant in CCOMPOSA and very eager in learning from the experiences of other countries. His death, coming in the wake of the loss of comrade Kamrul, is a heavy blow for the PBCP(M-L) Lal Pataka. But it will surely overcome this and move forward along the new initiative taken by comrade Mizanur. The martyrdom of comrade Mizanur has deprived the CCOMPOSA and the international communist movement of an outstanding leader.
We dip the red flag in his honour and grieve his loss along with his comrades and family.

The Beauty and Glory of War

It may be necessary for some wars. The New and Improved Communist Party of Peru (Sendero), the gains made by Maoist in India and the recent victory in Nepal, show that it is sometimes necessary for people to fight for their rights.
However……

Where ever there is war in the world, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Philippines, Colombian, Iran and a few places I'm sure I forgot, we can bet that the US, under both the CIA, our esteemed president and his supporting congressmen are involved.
As I've said before they all sit in their cosy offices to avoid any danger. Their kids are exempt. But here is a video of one of the less lucky ones in the way of one someone’s wars. He's Asian, but the loss of a limb looks the same weather it is on an Asian, an Arab, a Latino or one of our own soldiers. War is easy when the bullets aren't aimed at YOU!!!!

This picture may have been intended as a joke, but it’s not really funny.

If anyone can laugh about war, Prez. George Bush can.

McCain hopes to follow.

They can always count on Senator Pat Roberts-Kansas to support them.

Paris trashes McCain

Finally Paris Hiltion has done something positive we can all be proud of. She has fought back at John McCain, with ads of here own, debunking McCain’s trashing of Barak Obama as a “Celebraty, such as Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.”
In this case the words came back to hound him as Paris makes a fool of him. Now we know she isn’t all money and looks.

From:
The 'Paris Hilton Factor' in Campaign 2008
John Diaz
August 10, 2008

Blame it on Paris.
Even before Paris Hilton came up with her spoof campaign ad against that "wrinkly white-haired guy," this was the year that viral videos arrived as a significant factor in presidential politics. But Hilton's video this past week raised the power and the art form of freelance politics to a new level on the Internet. Sen. Barack Obama's campaign strategists might not have known quite how to counter Sen. John McCain's attempt to compare the Illinois Democrat's celebrity to Hilton and Britney Spears. Hilton, however, knew exactly what to do.
She mocked back with an online "Paris for president" ad that questioned whether a candidate who was old enough to remember when "dancing was a sin" was ready to lead. Her response from a lounge chair was quick, self-deprecating, witty - and effective in turning the tables on McCain. The ad rocketed into e-mail in-boxes throughout the land.

If you’re a Republican and feeling really dumb today

By 史蒂夫 奥多
Why do the people of Kansas vote Republican? Why does anyone in the US vote Republican?
It's become a kind of disease. It's like de-evolution. People turn to primate instincts and listen to sound bites rather than actually look at the facts.
*Off shore drilling is bad for the environment, will produce only a few drops of gas, not affect the price at the pump, but Even Barak Obama won't argue this with his Republican rival.
*The War in Iraq never had anything to do with 9-11. Don't tell the Republicans and their voters. They just want to see us shoot someone – anyone!
*Rich people and congresspersons fight our wars from their pulpit, in safety, including their families, while poor and working people get sent off to batte and may come back missing limbs or in a coffin.

Republicans don't even want to pay for the damage they inflict on our people:

"Roberts Votes Against Defense Authorization Bill
Opposes pay raise and improvements in health care for troops"

Senator Pat Roberts voted with Republicans Thursday night to block the Defense Authorization Bill. The bill would have authorized appropriations for fiscal year 2009 for military activities of the Department of Defense.

"I'm disappointed with Sen. Roberts failure to vote for this bill and demonstrate his support for our troops," Slattery said. "After 40 years in Washington, Sen. Roberts misplaced priorities amaze me."

The bill included a pay raise for troops.

"At a time when we are asking so much of our troops, they deserve a well earned increase in pay," Slattery said.

Also included in the bill were improvements in health care for troops and their families, including a rejection of a proposed fee increase by President Bush.

"We must ensure that the men and women who serve our country and their families receive the health care they need," Slattery said.

"Sen. Roberts rejection of this bill is indefensible and demonstrates how desperately Kansans need a new senator in Washington who is committed to change."

MONEY BOMB FOR THE PEACE MOM - AUG 6TH

From Cindy Sheehan:

At the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends, Martin Luther King Junior
Nancy Pelosi was entrusted with the responsibility of ending the war and took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The war rages on and Nancy has refused to hold those accountable for this immoral war based on lies.Cindy for Congress is asking the country to stand up against injustice and stand with Cindy Sheehan again on August 6th
August 6th is Hiroshima Day. Hiroshima is a vivid example of the potential destruction US Foreign policy can bring to people all around the world. The USA is the only country to ever have used a Nuclear weapon in battle. It's time to stop!
We must hold the administration that led us into an unjust immoral war based on lies accountable.
August 6th is also the third anniversary of the day Cindy Sheehan first sat down in the ditch outside of George W Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch to get him to answer the question, “For what noble cause,” did he send her son Casey to die in Iraq!
Stand with Cindy again on August 6th!

The return of the communes

It’s been a while since anyone has put communes together. Communes go back to the Paris Commune revolt, where the rebels were called communards. I received this article about attempts to re-establish communes in Nepal:

Maoist communes in Nepal
This article was adapted from The Red Star, a national magazine published by the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist.

There are four full-fledged communes operating at present in Nepal. They were established by the people under the direct leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist. Two of these communes are located in the Rolpa district that served as a forefront of the Maoists' struggle for over 10 years.
The biggest among the four communes is Ajambari, located in Thawang, Rolpa. It was built after villagers were forced to flee their communities due to intense militarization by the Royal Nepal Army (RNA) forces. After Red fighters of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) victoriously thwarted the RNA, the villagers established the communes to strengthen their community.
The second commune is located in Jaljala, Rolpa. The third commune called "Juni" was formed in 1998 in Jajarkot district in western Nepal. It was established with the goal of protecting the welfare of families victimized by militarization, massacres and other human rights abuses perpetrated by the toppled monarchy. The fourth commune is in Balidum, Rukum district. These areas are bastions of the PLA.
Every community member actively participates in the production work of the communes, even as they strive to address all the needs of its members. With the help of the Red guerrillas, schools, hospitals, banks and other social service institutions have already been built. Other communes, on the other hand, have seen the rise of hotels and restaurants.
Adult commune members work in the farms, with some assigned to care for children and the elderly. Centralized production is employed to ensure proper and sufficient distribution among commune members, especially in the face of the global food and oil crisis. Additionally, as testament to the communes' successful operations, they can now produce their own soap, confectionery, shoes, biscuits and pashmina shawls.
Members of the commune come from different sectors and social classes. People from various national minorities and castes live in freedom and democracy. Equal rights are enjoyed by both men and women, a remarkable leap from the backward practices of the feudal system. Old traditions and superstitions— remnants of the old system—are gradually being eliminated.
Apart from the four full-blown communes in Nepal today, there also exist over 50 cooperative communes in the country.
The commune system's superiority over the old feudal system in the field of production and distribution of the fruits of production has been proven in years of existence. Centralized production has resulted in increased production for the community. Each member enjoys access to the commune's resources, with the efficient distribution of the fruits of the members' collective labor. It is evident that the living standards of the people have been vastly improved under the commune system.

Roberts Linked to Indicted Senator Ted Stevens
Made trip to Alaska, supported Senator's earmarks, accepted campaign contributions

Topeka, KS – Yesterday, Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska was indicted on seven felony charges for failing to disclose over $250,000 worth of materials and labor gifted by an oil company for renovations to his Alaska home.
Stevens is good friends with Kansas Senator Pat Roberts. Roberts flew to Alaska in 2000 to emcee an event dedicating an Anchorage airport named after Ted Stevens.

Stevens, the longest serving Republican senator was first elected 40 years ago in 1968. Roberts too has been in Washington over 40 years.

"When you've been in Washington as long as Pat Roberts has, you get far too cozy with characters like Ted Stevens," Slattery said.

Roberts supported Stevens' exorbitant earmarks in the Senate. Most notably, Roberts voted for the notorious "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska, a wasteful $230 million project.

"Pat Roberts should not claim to represent the best interests of Kansans when he supports wasteful pork barrel spending in Alaska," Slattery said.

Stevens and his leadership PAC, Northern Lights, have donated nearly $20,000 to Roberts' campaign. Yesterday, Slattery demanded that Roberts donate an equivalent amount to charity.

The $100,000 bill picture I use to symbolize the greed of our politicians is was issued in 1934, lasted less than 10 years and was only used by banks. It was then and is now illegal for an individual to own one. Today they are all in museums.

The largest bill that was circulated to people was a $10,000 bill which has not been printed since 1933. Some private colectors still have them.
